I have a friend that constantly sends me forwarded jokes. Every day I get about 5 or 6 from her. I really like her, but with all the mylot reponses and other stuff makes it hard to sit and read the forwarded jokes. I'm really not in to jokes anyway and don't want to hurt her feelings by telling not to send any more. does anyone elee have this problem and how do you solve it?

i think its the case most of us face in life. i have a friend also who used to forward mails in my office mails. i was busy in keeping that office mail within size limit.initially i used to say thanks. now i do not follow up those mails but chat with him. so he understands that i do not like mails but have contact with him.

true its the case with every person , every inbox gets a lot of FWDs, worth or not worth but there r people who do care for you , they just think of u and fwd such mails, even if one deletes them without even opening a thnk u reply will help maintain the relation !

I haven't faced this problem on either of the public mailing sites..But i keep receiving mails frequemtly from my friends on my official mail id.. And that too not just 5 or 6 but in a heap of around 15.. Actually we are on bench so people here in office spend their time either by reading forwarded emails or forwarding emails..
But believe me it becomes quite irritating when you find the next day that your inbox is full with emails or when you are busy doing some work like reading or writing a response here at mylot and suddenly you receive a mail from your friend and that too a one which you have already read... isint it disgusting? I find it more irritating when 3 of my friends send the same mail to me ..so i have 3 copies of the mail.. and moreover it has also happened with me that the mail wich i sent to one of my friend.. he sent back to me..
I haven't got a solution yet but i keep reminding my friends that they all have sent me the same mail.. So still finding a way to empty my mailbox..

You're lucky you only have 1 friend who does it...I have 2 and I hate it! I'm not really into jokes and those sites that tell you what's going on in news, entertainment and the world yet these people send me at least 2 a day. I don't want to hurt anyones feelings either so I just delete them and if they ask me if I liked them I always say yes. Personally I seldom if ever send these things to anyone.

I get such mails constantly from various acquaintances and friends too. I usually don’t open them then and there. Everytime I open my mail box, I prioritize my mails and respond accordingly. If I have nothing better to do, I open such mails and go thru them. There is nothing to tell your friend really, she doesn’t ask for a feedback, does she? Even if she does, you can always say that with more important mails at hand, you did not have time to go thru her jokes. After a couple of such responses, she should understand that you don’t like jokes. And you don’t have to be apologetic about it either…friends needn’t be perfect always.

I've had to deal with this a few times. If it is someone that I am really comfortable with, I have just told them "I really enjoy hearing from you, but I receive way too many emails on a daily basis. So please don't forward me anything. Just send me emails that are from you, not the whole planet." Then there are those, that I know I would hurt their feelings, I just delete all of the forwards from them. Better than dealing with their drama.
Then there is this kid that was in one of my husband's college classes. I just told him to take us out of his address book, because he sends billions of forwards to like 100 people every day.

My grandmother does this. She just got her own email last year. She forwards everything. It may sound bad, but I don't even open them. I just delete them. She does this to my father too and that is his response also.

Ahh yes I have exactly the same problem. I have even told my friend that I do not like them and I never respond to them.
I think they are such a waste of space, I don't need to be told how great I am or how special me and 5000 other people are.
When you find a solution let me know :)

I usually disregard those forwards because most of them are a bunch of crap. I will only read them if something in the title catches my eye immediately.

Well i do have a lots of friends of mine who did this trick a lot more time and they just try to kidding with me & nothing else. But to avoid these things i just try to spam those emails and when next they send these emails they directly goto the spam box. So its not a big problem chase for me.
Happy Myloting!!!

I had that same problem...so I just created a new email address and had all my important things sent there...and didn't tell my friends my new email addy..haha...so they still send me stuff, but I don't have to look at it..well sometimes I do, if it looks interesting enough.
