pay on time and eat and eat was all I did. What sets you off to eating and what helps you to stop and to combat it?

I am totally the opposite, when I get stressed I cant eat. I just have no appetite and if I do eat I feel really sick, I had a really bad time about 2 years ago, I was in a situation for about 10 months where I was stressed out 90 percent of the time, I lost so much weight it was untrue, I could hardly eat a thing. As a result I now have real trouble with a lot of food, its like I have become intolerant to loads of things, it was not a nice time at all.

Only when my immediate relatives die do I get so stressed that I don't eat, but that's short lived, thankfully. One extreme or the other isn't good. People loose the ability to digest and loose enzymes for food if not used. Too bad you didn't at least drink something like ensure until you felt better. It is rough when your body has trouble with foods, thanks to ulcers I had and keep trying to have, there are high acid foods that I either can't eat or must eat in very small quantities and not very often. That's rough enough, your problem, I'm sure is worse. Have you been to a Doctor? Sometimes they have ideas to help. Sometimes they make things worse to, it's a gamble. Take care

No I havent been to a doctor, I can still eat enough to get by on, its mainly bread, certain meats I cannot eat no more, some vegetables, certain crisps, actually when I think about it most of the foods I cant seem to eat no more are actually fattening anyway so it could be the fats in the food that I cant digest anymore.

I can certainly empathize with you on that. Stress has always been my trigger. Unlike the normal pattern that is portrayed in movies, when I am upset or stressed I gain weight but when I am happy and content I lose weight. Have never found a way to combat that but I am sure it lies in the mind. Will power is a good thing, I just don't seem to have any. lol

I find that boredom sets me off. When I am bored, all I think about is certain kinds of food, sometimes it is salty like chips or something sweet like cookies or cereal..What stops me? I try to find something to do, but that is kind of hard since I am home without a car, so I have to get creative..Sometimes I find something to do and sometimes I eat..lol

Oh I would love a home gym myself. I had a neighbor that had a home gym in his basement and he had all kinds of different equipment..You are right though, the winter is the worse time, besides holidays, it is harder to worked off the pounds because of the cold...

It's easier when the weather is nice, I go for walks. But today was so cold that a person couldn't be out for more than a few seconds without being chilled to the bone and getting frost bite. Also why I'd like a home gym

Hey, honey... just remember that that food isn't paying those bills for you... stress requires something physical. Thats why we had three kids, instead of two like we'd planned. Start thinking of food as a reward, instead of a comfort. And make it a small reward... a slice of cake, not the cake! I get 1/2 a banana on my cereal when I've accomplished something!

No, I mean accomplish something, not just DO something! Like when I finish my taxes, or I've steam-cleaned the carpet throughout the whole house, or weeded the entire yard... those goals need to be elevated! When I got hurt the first time, we had nothing, and it got worse... weekly phone conversations with the people we owed money to worked wonders. One of them got us to a legit consolidation service that gave us the breathing room to get back on our feet... including helping with the $77,000 in medical bills. They helped us so much that I sent them Christmas cards for years, until they all moved on to other jobs!

The thing that sets me off to eat when I shouldn't is - food! If there is food that I like in the house I have to eat it. There's this thought in my head that I have to eat it before someone else does. So now I just buy a single serving of something instead of the whole bag or box because I'm trying to lose weight too.

I go through periods of time when I'm like that, too. My three teenage brothers would eat everything in the house if I didn't compete with them. Take care.

Ah! Maybe that's it - I also have three brothers that I had to compete with growing up. Plus only went grocery shoppiing once a month since the store was a good distance away.

I completley know where you are comming from. When I am sad or stressed I turn to food to console me. Consequently I end up gaining alot of weight. I usually cycle in and out of these binge periods and I ahve yet to find a sure fire way to comabt the binge eating. I know that binge eating is not very healthy and that I should stop but it is proving to be a very difficult task.

When I am upset or worried, I don't eat. Think this is almost worse than eating too much. I've been so fortunate that my entire life I have never had a weight problem. I can eat anything and must burn it off. I'm also very active at work and on my feet the entire time. Have you tried chewing sugar free gum or eating sugar free candy? There are some brands that are really very good.

Well this sounds pathetic but self pity has been known to cause me to eat and eat and eat and then I kick myself after. Too bad that we never think at the time that eating will not solve whatever problems we are facing, it will just add to another in the long run. But I feel for you and understand how it is. It sucks huh?

That would do it for me too. Stress over money worry often sets me up on a binge then I check my blood sugar. It goes 200 oh my thats it you idiot why did you do it? So I exercise like a mad woman for forty five minutes and the sweat pops out so check my blood glucose again.100 thank goodness. then I drink a glass of cold water think about my gluttonny and resolve not to do that again. And for awhile it works until the next time.

Depression does trigger my appetite too. I have seen it when I have a no talk day with my husband or if we argue.I have tried dealing with it. I either go for long walks or go to my gym. On the days when I dont have gym I plan up to meet my friends. Or even when thats not possible I go for long drives.I found all these helpful to deal with my depression and stop me from thinking of food.
