I'm trying to post new discussions... but I'm running out of ideas!

I usually start responding to my friend's discussions, and then I look for discussions with no responses to see if there's anything I can do to help... but yesterday I decided to change strategies, and start my very own discussions...
Guess what? I ran out of ideas in no time! So this pushed me to ask the rest of you, to my dear friends who post 50 posts a day... where do you get your ideas from? Newspapers, magazines, coworkers? Please share!

Hello marinarovi. I think that if we pay more attention to our daily life and work, we would have more ideas for posting new discussions every day. Yeah, it is a very good source to do lots of reading from newspapers, magazines and such. But I have to say that I am still not that creative in starting new discussions as I can not always find some interesting topics to start a discussion with. I am sure that you will be very good at posting new discussions soon once you focus more on posting new discussions. I will be very happy to read more of your new discussions in no time. Happy posting.

Thank you so much, Williamjisir, for your response. A gentleman as usual.
I do hope I'll get more ideas soon. I'm working too much lately, Mylot is like a little vacation from all that.

Hi marinarovi! =) I am quite new to myLOT but have thought that surely a lot of discussions have been posted already. I worry that the discussion that I'll create have been presented before. And I think it happens that we run out of things to discuss sometimes. Don't worry, your creativity will take you over on good days, and if they do, write as many as you can. You can also read newspapers, mags, and some discussions from your co-workers, from the ideas that you gather, you can think of a way to present it uniquely. and everything will surely follow. =)

I answer a lot. I just wish I had more ideas (in english, that's the hard part!) to share with my friends here on mylot.
I don't start stupid discussions just for the money. If my discussions are stupid it's only because I'm blonde, so please cut me some slack!

It seems to me that the people who post more than a few discussions each day mainly steal "their" ideas from other people, and that is a shame. If they spent a little time looking at what other people do with the idea of trying to be good and helpful friend, as you have, then they would certainly be serving myLot better, and themselves, too. That is my view. A new discussion doesn't have to interest everyone, but it should have enough substance to allow the poster's friends go get some mental stimulation. It shouldn't just be all about the poster, as in the case of one member who posted a new discussion that served no more purpose than to inform those who were kind enough to give her replies that she didn't have time to comment on their answers so she would just thank them all at once in order to be able to go start more (useless) discussions. Go figure.

Thank you so much for your response, Drannhh!
I think the same, I try to post interesting topics (at least interesting to me, hehe) not just any post to get money. That's why I run short of ideas so soon, I guess.
But I'll keep trying! Thank you for your support!

I have never started 50 New discussions in a day. I can't imagine even doing so. I think the most New Discussions I have ever started in a day is about 4 maybe. But when I do start a New discussion, a lot of the time, it comes from ideas I have been thinking on, News stories going on at this time, or things going on in my life at the time. These do come in spurts, and I don't think we need to start a New discussion every day as well. But I can relate with the running out of ideas. This is about the time I find myself signing out of myLot for awhile until my mind is ready to focus again on subjects of interest in here.

i will not even try to make 50 postings in a day,i have got quite a lot to do for a day and i am really more interested in making reasonable postings rather thatn juty making a post, its about the impact that really matters to me,and about running out of ideas everyone experiences that once in a while so we just have to get used to that

in the mylot doldrums? i have been there many times. When it gets bad i stop posting new topics all together, when it gets really bad i stop responding. So far my worst time lasted 3 months and im just getting over it now. I dont know where i get the ideas from, they tend to be random ideas and ive often already started posting the discussion before ive finally fomalised the way the discussion topic will work and, of course, responders will often take the discussions in some wonderfull and unexpected directions
blessed be

I think there are lots of small small things in our life that we can use to start as discussions. Most times we fail to notice things. Another thing is that if we keep on thinking how to start on discussions we might get very little ideas. When we try to concentrate on different things in our life we might be able to start discussions on these different things of our life and our daily activities or things we daily do or things we daily see.

Reply to more dicussions! There's no use sitting there racking your brains trying to think of something to write. I usually find myself wondering about certain topics during my day to day activities, whether it's when I'm driving or doing the dishes or at work. When I'm next on mylot I usually remember these things and make a discussion about them. If you're thinking of silly things to say just for the sake of making a post I think it shows and people will be less inclined to reply. Remember, quality not quantity! Good luck.

I usually respond a lot. To my friends and to randomly found discussions which topics I find interesting. It' just easier for me.
but sometimes I wish I had more ideas to post my own discussions, to get answers from my friends...
It's not posting any silly discussion what I'm looking for. If that was the case, it would be easier! I try to write interesting of at least funny stuff for my friends to read...
Thank you for your response, Coffeeshot.

i think everyone at one time gets what is called the writers clot it is when you just go blank i do experience this so many times but whenever am in my peak i make i keep writing until i go dry.besides i deas sometimes will come to you when you are taking a walk or when reading a book, newspaper, magazine or even when you are just quiet at this point just pick a pen and a jotting pad and write then improve on what you have written before posting.

I usually respond to other people's topics, and my ideas are in spanish, so I get the fun of it in the translation. Still, I do try.
Thank you so much for sharing, Julyteen!

I think the best way of coming up with some form of discussion is to look at your life or peoples around you and think about anything you have not been quite sure you have the answer to, that way you can post it and see what others think, but I think it is pointless in just writting things for the hell of it, i only write something that I think people will help me with or give me the answer to.

I do not post alot for the same exact reason. Plus, when I do a search, most of my topics of conversation have already been used. So...I just respond to various discussions hoping that an idea will come to me. It might take days or weeks, but one does usually come. LOL

the fact is there is hardly a post you will make that someone has notb make before .the most important thing i for you to know how to word your posts in such a way that it will interest your audience also you can make postings about your personal experience and this can make others who need to read something in that line respond to you

You may have a point there but you also need to make your own personal postings so that you can increase your earnings as well as your credibility in this site, this will really help you to build up a kind of followership,i have some people here that i will always look out for their posting its just that simple

What I have done in the past is walk around my house and get ideas from the things I have. For example, I started a discussion about the number of TV's I have and that got me into starting a discussion about what shows I watch, and that got me into starting a discussion about renting movies. Or another one is I saw that I have a self cleaning oven so I started a discussion to ask how many others have one or if they have to clean it by hand. Or I saw I had a slow cooker so I asked how many others had one. Things like that. But I have now run out of ideas too and now I am not starting too many any more. But if you can think of discussions to start it is a lot quicker posting because you don't have to read a ton of them before finding one you can respond to. Also you make more money by starting discussions because the more responses you get, the more money you make.
I have a friend on my list that only starts discussions about news item. I think she must search them out in the internet because most of them she has a link to the story. But in saying that, I don't respond to very many of her discussions because there is nothing really to say about them. But I try.
