Have you ever named a pet after another animal?

Like for instance, did you have a dog and name it Bunny? How bout a turtle and name him Mousey? I've never named a pet after another breed of animal, although I think it could be cute in some ways.

I named my cat bear once. His brother we named smokey and didnt realize it was "smokey bear" til we called for them one day. Anyways other then that thats the only animal we named after another animal. My dog now is named after a car. The dodge viper, his name is Viper.

We were going to get a puppy one time that looked like a little bear, so we were going to name him Bear, but never did end up getting him. Someone else beat us to it, which is sad because I really wanted him, but hopefully he went to a good home. Viper is a cute name for a cat! In fact it's not only a car, but a snake as well, which makes it even cooler, lol.

I guess technically I have. I have a dog named Joey. Although naming him after another breed was not the intent. I never even thought about his name that way until this moment. I think more times than not though that that would be annoying. Like, why would you name your pet another animals breed name. It doesn't make sense to me. I think using adjectives to name animals is cuter and is a better conversation peice than naming it another breed of animal. That's just me though. Thanks for making me think!!

No problem! MyLot gives me a chance to make a whole group of people think, without really annoying them like I do off the computer. I tend to be a bit of a blabbermouth, and people get bothered with me fast. I've never named a pet after another breed of animal before either, except my intents to name a puppy Bear, because he was the fattest fluffiest little thing ever. I think it all depends on the name you choose. I also think Joey was a good choice, as it's not only considered another animal but a male name as well.

I had a cat named Bear. I named another cat Tiger. I guess that's in the same family though - isn't it?

Well it sort of is, but then again house cats and big cats are considered two different things in my eyes. You still did it, none the less! lol.
