Belief in God

How do you respond or think when someone says he/she doesn't believe in God? First thing comes in to my mind is to go up to that person and ask: Can you explain the magic of birth & pain of death? or the beautiful things we look around like the sky, trees, flowers, rivers, mountains, animals, birds, even humans - where did they come from & how are they made? Well, I guess that explains that I am a big believer of the great God. No one knows the mistry of him or has seen him, but we all feel him in our lives one time or the other, especially when we need extra inner strengh or special needs in the time of crisis. Let me know how many of you really belive in God, or if you've ever experienced his presence. It doesn't matter if you are a Christian, Muslim, Buddist, Jewish or Hindu & call your God Jesus Christ, Budda or Krishna.

It is my belief that belief in God comes by revelation not persuasion. Of course, words may form part of that revelation but I have no set formula to respond to one who professes no belief in God. I respect their belief but at the same time am not ashamed to share of my own experience and to engage in apologetics if its warranted. Usually I find apologetics are of more use when speaking with a seeker with reservations than a professing athiest. More me, the creation itself is one of the greatest revelations of God that there is. Also I believe that inside everyone there exists the knowledge that there is a greater being to whom we must give account - hence the desire to deny that - who wants to be held accountable for their lives? People are undoubtedly more than just chemicals, we are spiritual beings with a spiritual awareness. Be it shamanism, wikka, Christianity, hinduism or whatever else, all peoples everywhere have an awareness of the spiritual. Only really since the bizarre ideas of postmodernism came onto the scene do we find genuine atheists having evolved and reputing what has been known for centuries. Even athiesm is a faith, though athiests will often react fiercely to such a notion, yet athiesm is based on literally no evidence, and can not be proven, so has to be taken hold of by faith. So to come back to your question. I usually say, well, I do believe in God but I have not always been a Christian. And see what the response is. I'm perfectly happy to move on to some other topic of conversation if they are not obviously interedted in knowing more. People I find hate having religion pushed at them and sadly that is a lot of peoples experience and is so counter productive. God managed to talk through the mouth of a donkey once so I'm sure that He could manage it through me if the time was right.

I believe in God, and honestly when people tell me that they don't I just go "oh, ok". Because I really have no idea how to respond because I don't know how they can just deny it. I respect that they don't believe however, because it is not my job to convince people to believe what I do. Even Jesus let people believe what they wanted, so why should I force my religion on someone? They don't have to answer to me when they die, and I don't have to answer to them. As long as people know what I believe and can respect it I don't have a problem with what they believe.

I firmly believe in God and the concept of ultimate surrender to God.My religion has named Him Sreeman Narayana , and i believe that our destiny is controlled by this Supreme Force who guides us in the right path. To your first question as to how I would respond to a person who does not believe in God, I feel it is a waste of time responding to this person because anyhow, the argument is going to be never ending and futile. As long as this person is not within the closest circle of my family[say, my children] it does not matter. I couldn't care less. Each to one's own and let the other person have his beliefs.

There is God. By looking around, we are given proofs that He exists. Of course, these cannot be an accident.

" GOD " ,the utterance of this very word evokes different emotions in many of us . Some feel good , some feel helplessness , power ,anger , happiness ,betrayed, a hoax and some feel nothing at all . To me God is nothing but just the reflection of my conscience . God has always invoked a sense of goodwill in me towards others . Whenever you get depressed you can always find solace in his arms . For me you need not even worship god to be feel his presence but just do good to others with your atmost conscience . Everyone, at one point in life needs that extra surge to cross hurdles. If we have that feel good factor coupled with our god's grace we can pull off anything . Our faiths and beliefs may change with time and place but the purpose remains the same " Be good to others " . with regards www.chocolatesavy.com

When someone says that they do not believe in GOD,I think to myself why? Some people just loose faith in our GOD because things go bad for them or they experience hard times.I never loose faith in MY GOD,things may get bad for me.I always have trust and faith in My GOD,I know things will work out sooner or later because I got GOD on my side,in my life and in my heart. He is always with me through good times and bad times no matter what.FOOTPRINTS!!!

I believe in God. I hold him in my heart as i would have all that i believed in. Though i have not seen him, i know and can always feel his presence through the things i have seen in my life. i have been through so many things at a young age, trials and what have yous... in good and in bad times i felt God's presence. I do not hold it against anyone who would tell me they don't believe in God. its their own personal belief and decision. God Manifests himself to me in almost everything, from the moment i wake up, the good feeling of having a new day, the sun in my eyes, the wind in my face when i walk home, the falling leaves, the flying birds,my friends, my love's wonderful smile... i am just wondering how could all these good things come to being when there is no greater being that is responsible for them?

Hi 1vishva, Yes, I know that God is real! The first thing that goes thru my mind when I hear of someone not believing in Him is pity. It has to be very depressing to live a life not knowing the Lord. I really believe that everyone knows deep down that God does exist. Many do not want to believe in Him because they are comfortable living in their sins and don't want to change even though their sins will eventually destroy them. We must always spread the Good News of the Lord everywhere we can! God bless!

Well, I think it is not possible to give a knock out argument for believing in God or otherwise. But ultimately with the evidences or the lack thereof we have to make a choice. And I think it makes sense to believe in God... and with God as the paradigm it makes lot of sense to see the world and explain it.

yes i believe in god with all my heart...although we don't see him since the beginning of our life but the evidence of his creation is proved that he exist...many individual do not believe but they can explain the wonders of the human life...even doctors and scientist don't have evidence about the DNA of a human.
