And the new $5 bills are here today!

You'd think it'd been one of the first to be "remodeled" instead of second to last! The $100 is the last one to be done.
I just had 2 20's and a 10 in my wallet the other day - and took them out to get change and looked at them...they were all three different - old, new and newest! it was odd to see three differnet kinds of bills - all current and valid!

I think that is part of their training! When I was trained at McDonald's as a teenager, I learned how to spot counterfeit bills! In those days, nobody ever made counterfeit ones or fives, mostly hundreds were counterfeit! (I asked the trainer, and I was told low bills were not made by couonterfeiters!)

Ever notice tho, that anytime you give a new, crisp bill, the "taker" always looks at it like it could be fake - yet hand them a wrinkled, torn bill and they don't give it a second thought!

The 5 on the rear bottom right corner looks bad. Almost looked like a photoshop when I first saw it. I wonder how the next wave of currency updates will be designed (a giant blue 20 and a 45 degree angle yellow 100? -_-).

So maybe you'll like it when we do like some other currencies and start using multiple colors :D
Just don't try to use monopoly money to buy goods and services.
And above all, if you are going to try using fake money, use realistic denomiations (not "4s", "7s", "11s" or "R-notes")

Well actually, my current monopoly money is from the I Love Lucy version of monopoly ...it has Lucy's face on it ... so since everyone loves lucy I shouldn't have a problem using it!!!

I have always like Monopoly money - after 30 plus years of not playing I still remember - 2, $500's, 2, $100's, 2, $50's, 7, $20's, 5, $10
s and 5, $5's and 5, $1's. Seems like a good assortment to me!

I like the new dollars too! I do not know how people can tell if it is real anymore, as there have been somany changes! As long as the experts at the bank can tell, that is what counts! I heard that a few banks recently found painted steel where the gold was supposed to be! It is important to watch out for what backs our money!

painted steel. - In a way I'm not surprised...TV shows so much of our country "secrets". I watched a full hour thing on Discovery or History channel, about Fort Knox - and how it all works and how they count it and just an enourmous amout of infomation about how our fortress 'works". Criminals are evil, not stupid!

That's true! This country also spends a lot of money fighting criminals and even more money housing them after they do get caught! I only know that when I look at all the new money, I cannot tell if it is real, all the money has changed so much and I do not handle money on a daily basis!

I know what you mean. I have 3 bills in my hand and they are all totally different! I just assume they are the real thing since I got them either at a store or bank. and like you said, I don't either, handle money every day or that much when I do! How can stores keep track of which bills are real or fake!?! I thought that pen thing they use to do when they first started making new bills was silly, but now, could be hte best thing to identify the fakes!

Oh wow,I didn't know there were colorful american dollars out. I took a look at the link you posted and I never knew. I live in Canada and all of our bills are different colors but I guess I haven't seen too many american dollars lately and I didn't know. My mother goes to the states a lot on bus tours, she just left on one today again, and she always has american money on her, but she has never told me they come in colors now. Maybe she doesn't know either, since maybe this is a new thing, or is it not so new?
