I am a Chinese and my ancestors are the Chinese nomads - Hakka (Ke Jia) people. They migrated to Nanyang which is today known as Singapore. I still do have relatives in mainland China and once in a while I would come back and visit them.
I have been to quite a number of cities in my visits to China like Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, Jingzhou, Yichang, Guangzhou, Kunming and Shenzhen. And yes, I will be looking forward to visit more places here if I can and time permits of course.
So far I feel it is really a great country and a very self reliant country with a relatively low cost of living in fact considered to be one of the lowest in the world. I would say the people are generally friendly and hospitable. Food wise is just very varied and wide choice. It is one country that is relatively rich in history and culture.

Hey silentsnow,
Yes I do enjoy my visits and trips to your country and will be looking forward to visit more places in time to come. Who knows I might just be around your neighborhood in time to come. Nowadays, travelling is so much convenient and faster - may be one day we catch up over at your place. Just might never know as the world is getting realitively smaller now.
If you are coming to my place may be you can drop me a note too. I could bring you around if you want. Cheers.

Hello skysuccess.I'm so happy to see that you say you are a Chinese.Although we belong to different countries, we have many similar traditions, such as the Spring Festival, the mid Autumn day and so on. We both learn Chinese culture and we love its rich culture. Li bai is a poet we all know,a lot of things like that. I think you will not feel strange to go back China to visit you relatives. Singapore is a fast developed country, China should learn from it from many aspects, the environment, the education.
Both china and Singapore love peace, the two countries are good friends, and I hope you come to China often and enjoy each time.

Hello again, Silentsnow. I enjoyed your discussion about the childhood memories, I decided to see what else you've started.
This new one somewhat touches on my favorite pasttime: food!
I know from my studies of Chinese food, that when Chinese people greet each other, they say things like, "How was your rice?" or something along those lines. It means they know that food is very important for the body, mind and soul.
Now, besides the typical noodles and rice dishes, my newest thing to love love LOVE are steamed buns....oohhhh...with red bean paste. I first had one just this last month at the Asian New Years celebration here in my homestate and they sold Peach buns (or birthday buns). Not only were they warm and moist, they were delicious. I also love the large buns with the different centers.
Luckily for me, I have this steamer that up until last week, have only done rice in it. Now, I'll do dumplings.
Oh, and potstickers, don't forget those.
I've read that the people of Schwean (spelling, I know. I'm too tired to look it up, please forgive me) have their foods so spicy for a reason. In the summertime, eating that kind of foods will make them sweat so much, they eventually cool down. In the wintertime, it warms them from the cold.
Thanks...now I'm hungry for Chinese food.

Hi,Kaeli72 again,I responded here to you but I was offline suddenly, what a bad luck because I wrote a lot of words to you yesterday. But it doesn't matter,I'm writting to you now.I feel so happy to read your reply here.I'm very surprised that you pay so much attention on Chinese food.Steamed buns with read bean, what wonderful food,I love it too.Speaking of buns,I recommend China's most famous one,it is a delicacy in Tianjin city,a very big city near capital Beijing. It's called "Gou bu li bun".You know how to pronunce "bun" in Chinese? It's "Bao zi",remember it:) "Gou bu li"means dog pays no attention to it.
You mentioned the food of Sichuan(you spell as Schwean). It is a province in southwest China. The Sichuan dish is famous all over the world because of its spicy flavor.Very very famous and very delicous. You even know why people love spicy food in summer and winter, you are really something:)you know so much about it.I'm so lucky because I had been to Sichuan Province, the hotpot is very delicious.Put the hot spicy soup in it,the mix is usually the secret in some famous restaurant, then put many pieces of beef and sheep in it, vegetables, everything you like,it's so nice.Of course,it's only one part of Sichuan dish.Since you love Chinese food so much, what a pity if you can't come to China and taste yourself.I really hope you will come here for a visit,it is worth visiting. This year, the 2008 Olympic Game will be held in Beijing,China.I do hope you can come to experience China, the food, the friendly people, the various aspects of China.May you happy,Thanks again for your sharing your childhood.I feel so happy to have a friend like you.

I haven't been to China yet, but I would love to go to. China is a large country with a varied landscape from the big cities like Beijing and Shanghai, to the country area with much natural beauty. The Chinese people have black hair and brown eyes. They look like the people I saw when I was in Hong Kong. They like to eat lots of rice. I would like to walk on part of the amazing looking Great Wall. The traffic can be very busy in the large cities but light in country areas. One day I hope to go from England to China by train via Russia.

China is great and Chinese are invaders in world wide market. They are peaceful people, they do not concern with so called terrorism. They are on the road of development of their production. They have their own traditions. They have their own global village. China is a rich populated country but population is no problem to them. They are hardworking and they are great inventers. We Pakistani are proud that china is our best friend.

Hello silentsnow
I have been staying here in Shenzhen China for quite long and it seems like it's my second home already. This place is already developed and Chinese people continue to develop it. I like places in Nanshan and Futian District. Tourist spots like Happy Valley, Window of the World, Mini Great wall... Places like Hong kong and Macau... I've been in Zhu hai also I just forgot what's that place but it's wonderful... I really had great time then.
I've got a lot of Chinese friends here. We have differences of course but we get along.
The foods are yummy but too oily and spicy. They have so many tea that's why I also learned how to drink tea and got used to it already.
This country's economy is really doing great... one proof is the value of their currency.

Hi jhoana_joey,it's very nice to see your reply. It seems that you are staying China happily. You know Shenzhen a lot even much than normal Chinese.Chinese place,Chinese food,Chinese tea. What you said is quite right.Although we have differences, we may get along very well.
By the way,it's very cute that you like the tea.In China, tea is so important just like the coffee in western countries. The tea set, the hot tea, the unique taste can bring you some state of history period.Tea is also a very good drink for health. So keep drinking tea is a good habit. Most cities you visit are in the south, you can come to Beijing or the northeast someday to experience the four seasons clearer. May you happy.
