In my original discussion http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1435377.aspx#
I posted the link to the youtube video of past Wright giving his now infamous sermon and to my utter surprise it has been removed from youtube. Until now I have never heard of tube tube removing or restricting a controversial tape. It would really like your opinions on who and why do you think was responsible for this. The pastor's words cannot be removed from history, the video just proved that he actually said them, showed his true feelings, what about freedom of speech? Is the media now going to be silenced and pretend it never happened? I think it is too late because unless you live under a stone the words of Pastor Wright are already indelible.

wow, i cant believe they took it off. The media is so biased though. some of the major stations did not even run the story but instead just the interview with Obama where he says he never heard those statements in person. I am sorry but yeah right. you dont know someone for 20 years and not know what they stand for. I am sure that the video clips circulating are not the only times he spoke these words of hate. Why is it ok that "obama denounces the statements" and the story is over? I dont think so. i think if Obama becomes president there is a strong potential that a division in America will resurface. Look at how defensive his supporters have become already. When he is in office, that will get worse and racial tensions will once again become hateful and mean. I live next door to a wonderful black family...on both sides of my home...they have been my neighbors for years and yesterday they said maybe they made a mistake casting their vote for this man who may represent hate all over again.

If they realize this now that is great because they still have a chance to change their minds in November and not let this devisive person be in control of the reigns of our country! No, this was not the only time this pastor brought sermons like this! It may be that it was the only one on tape but believe me this was NOT a one time affair! America, when Barak Obama stood and denounced what his pastor said in that tape (notice he denounced WHAT he said not the man) and told you that if teachings like that had gone on while he was his pastor he would have changed churches; HE LIED TO YOU!! Not an avoidance of the truth but a flat out and out lie! As far as it being removed from U-tube the owners of the site could be Obama supporters!?

It has been a long time since I could look at a presidential candidate and not see deceit and a major lack of integrity. Barack Obama however, does have integrity and I can't help but think you already know that.
There is allot of tension created over Hilary and Barack on this campaign trail. Racial tension has not been quashed in America, it is sitting nicely in the background waiting for the masses to use it as a tool whenever people get over excited and need something to chew over.
In the heat of elections comes all sorts of verbal rape that is nonsense, but is a useful tool to sway peoples emotions. It works well doesn't it. Obama doesn't represent hate, he represents hope. America needs to change, and one of those changes is to never ever use color, race or religion as a political tool again.

yes rodney I agree. Obama is lying. I really want someone to find a video of him attending a sermon where Wright spoke like this. This way once and for all everyone in America will see his is a liar. I remember someone telling me in another post that he was a different kind of candidate...well..that person is right he sure is. He is a candidate who supports a man who hates america and promotes hatred of whites in america. that is not a candidate I want in charge of my country

I think you are correct as there has also been nothing in my local newspapers either.

I saw your first discussion & this, & as you know the video had been removed by then.
I am surprised, as the free speech usually overcomes all objections.
The only thing I can think of, is that this Pastor was inflaming people & promoting violence. On those grounds a video could be removed in Australia (if someone objected).
I understand our laws are a little stricter than yours in that regard.
As to who removed it, I guess it was the admin of youtube. They would have received complaints I guess.
As I didn't see or hear the speech, I could be inaccurate in what I am suggesting here.

Thanks. I got to see it. I was a bit stunned at how extremist he is.I do agree that it is important that everyone who wants should be able to see this video.
I dont know how My Lot went weird yesterday when I responded to your discussion? Like you said, one of the many glitches we are all having at the moment.

I think you are right. We have all heard the words now. I think though that whoever put the video up may have decided that it had served its purpose and took it down. It has caused the stir that they were hoping for.

Isn't it interesting how its being removed, covered-up, excused and what not. I remember when I first started on mylot there was a discussion about a televangelist being removed from TV. I had claimed it was unfair, but realized that its up to the programmers and producers. However, I also claimed how some people are being silenced while others who preach far worse are allowed to keep their speech (guess Rev. "Reich" was part of that club -_-).
There's also no way Obama couldn't have known how the Rev thinks and preaches. 20 years people... you don't associate with someone for twenty years without knowing how they think and what they are saying. I am open to the possibility Obama didn't attend the sermons in question (though the odds of that are far out). But what also needs to be considered is the Rev's placement as part of the Obama campaign team. Even that should speak volumes about the situation. The "response" by the campaign was rather dismal too. An uncle that says random things he doesn't agree with... Like I said earlier, if I had family saying horrific and racist things, I'd be severing ties.
Hmph. Back to the Rev. At the very least if he's going to spew hate speech, could he please show a basic command and knowledge of history and society!? Many of the things he was saying were farfetched, disgusting and inaccurate (the US created HIV to eliminate other races for example... -_-, criminals should be excused and not jailed... etc)

I'll add this since I forgot to. On youtube people will flag what they don't agree with (what a surprise -_-). In terms of news, people are already employing the shaming language (guilt by association). I explained it in another thread too, people will protect certain politicians for their own reasons:
"i like how he/she sounds",
"i like them because of [insert non-political or superficial reason here]", "what will he/she do for me",
"how can I protect this person",
"anything (right or wrong) this person does to get there is fine",
Not surprising in my view.

I have no idea why they removed. I did search youtube and find another one.
If they want to keep it off the internet, which is absurd, they are going to be very busy over at youtube.
I have a sneaking suspicion it will be reposted again as soon as they delete it.

Nah Lakota, it was probably my [Wall of Text] that threw you off.
You are alright! Your posts aren't being removed it seems.

I certainly have not idea who removed it or why but my question is, who cares and why should it matter? It's been played over and over all over the media so I'd guess whoever wanted to see and hear it has already done so. As far as freedom of speech, doesn't somebody own and operate YouTube so don't they have the right to have their own standards as to what is allowed to be posted and how long it remains there?

I am offended by what he said but Freedom of Speech says he can say it even if I think he is an idiot. What I find more hard to believe after watching this video is that Obama has the nerve to claim that he wasn't aware of his Pastor's views yet says he has been a member of this church (with this Pastor) for the last 20 years. It would seem highly unlikely that someone could not know the views of a Pastor who is so outspoken. Since I think he really did know the Pastor's views, it makes me wonder how many of the views Obama shares and just doesn't want to admit to b/c he doesn't want to lose face with the public. I can't help but remember his beginning campaign speech about "this is a time for the black community to stand up and be heard". I'm all for ppl being heard, but it shouldn't matter if they are black, white, brown, green or pink with yellow polka dots.
