The excitement my dog shows me when I return is a great reward. Someone misses me, even if it's only my dog. My daughter used to be the same way when daddy came home, but little girls tend to grow out of such things.

Well, they're very happy when they see me and they love me very much since I'm the only one who understands them in the house.

we had a siberain husky and she was not a small dog but she thought she was a lap dog. lol
about 3 months ago she got out of the yard when we took my son to school and are hoping the home again chip works and we get her back. but anyway she loved to cuddle, at night we had to put her in the garage because she would jump up on the beds to cuddle and not relize she was to big,or she most of thought we needed to get up and would get in the kids faces and wake them up at night. but i would let her in as soon as i got up and she would go straoght to the couch. she would lay on my lap until my husband got home and then she would play with him till the kids got up. she was more like another kid than a dog.

I love my dog to bits! She patiently waits for me at the foot of the stairs in the morning when she knows that it's time for me to wake up, and when I do, she excitedly wags her tail and would lick me in the face when I come pet her. She loves to snuggle, too. After lying on her back and gets a stomach rub, she would place her head on my lap and would rub her head on my lap until she just stops and lays there. When I go home, she waits excitedly at the window and she would cry until I get to her and she would lick me again. I love her.

Our dogs were beautiful. They always kept their eye on you to make sure you were OK and still there. They would come once in a while for a pet just to let you know that they care.
Oh yes, there was a lot of excitement when we came home - probably too much!
One of the dogs, if we weren't nearby would slip into one of the plastic chairs we used to use outside. But she knew she wasn't allowed to do this because once in a while I have caught her sitting there and then I would get someone to make a noise and she would jump off with that look in her eye 'who me?'. She was adorable.
They rub against you for petting too but seeing as they were big dogs, I don't think I would have liked to have had them on my lap, there's only so much snuggling you can do with a big dog. Mind you put the fire on and we would all be lying in front of it. They had to be closer to it than us, of course!
The most wonderful bit was if you were feeling unwell, they just knew it. If either of us were in bed, ill, then they would both just lie outside the bedroom door with their heads on their paws looking at the bed. Just ADORABLE. You gotta love 'em, how anyone can hurt a cat or dog or any other animal for that matter is beyond me!
Enjoy your snuggles!
