Consuming hot drinks in hot weather

Tea - Tea is one of the most widely-consumed beverages in the world. Some people drink tea in hot weather, saying it makes them less thirsty.

I've heard once that when it's too hot in summer and you're thirsty, consuming hot drinks is good. Do you think this is true? I wonder what the explanation is...

I guess it's probably the same theory as you're supposed to eat spicy foods in the heat...it helps you sweat which in turn cools you off once the air hits it.

I think the reason for this is that if your body is hot and in desparate need of hydration, it won't have to spend it's energy heating up the water to a usable temperature. Appearently, your body can't actually use the water until it's at body temperature. That being said, I think consuming really hot beverages may be the equivalent to drinking really cold beverages - your body will have to get it to body temperature before it can use it for hydration.

well i've drank hot drinks when its hot outside and it seems to make me thirstier than normal. i'm guessing because of your body temp that would want u to drink something cold which could help quench your thirst. but as far as drinking hot drinks when its hot outside could make u hotter. but i have drank hot tea when it was hot outside and it did make me wanna drink cold tea behind it.
