Ever since I was little, if there was a warm summer rain coming down, I would sneak out of the house and dance around the lawn with my face turned to the sky. My mother would yell at me through the window and I would ignore her and send my mind to other places where there were no moms, no yelling and lots of fairies dancing with me. No one ever came out to stop me and I have never in my life caught a cold from dancing in the rain. These days, I take my kids out in warm summer rains and we dance and laugh and just enjoy the time together. I may be crazy, but I do love the rain! lol

Hello sparkofinsanity,
Welcome to mylot, I hope you will continue to delight this this community with your sanity!:-)
When I started discussion, I did think of adding that enjoying rain can be a geographical phenomenon since places where it almost always rain, people rarely like it but then I left it as such to keep it open.
It appears that you truly enjoy wonderland of life as it presents itself. And, there is nothing particularly crazy about enjoying rain, it's refreshing rather, and quite enchanting too! Thanks for sharing!:-)

I love it when it rains. Something about a steady, gentle rain is calming. If I had a porch I would be sitting out and watching it rain. Right now I use an umbralla and watch it till I get too wet.
I do recall when I was a young one that I would dance in the rain. Perhaps your never to old to do that :)

Well then, balasri, you and I share our dislike for sweat. I love cool environment and have difficult time dealing with burning sun and suffocation, mostly because I get all my clothes and undergarments wet with sweat. And, I don't like that feeling!:-)

Hello balasri,
I have observed that people who live in tropical areas or where it almost always rain, like here, don't like it that much and I can understand that. But, you still enjoy it and that's admirable! You have an interesting point about special bondage. Yes, there are things we may not like that much but we can't live without them somehow; strange but true! Thanks for sharing!:-)

I like the rain and thunderstorm is the temperature is moderate, it's no fun when it's really cold. During some of these rain and thunderstorms I will go out and get drenched and just enjoy it.
There is so much power in the air, you can feel. It helps to put things into perspective and to just realize how insignificant we really are in the greater scheme of things.
For all of our modern marvels and vast technology, we still can't touch the weather. I hope that never changes.

I love that combination too, filmbuff! Here, sometimes, it's very windy (quite wild) when it rains and I love the feeling and the sound of it even though it destroys my umbrella when I go to University! I could never believe that beauty of technology would ever touch that of nature. The simplicity that nature presents is much more powerful than all the charms that we create! Thanks for sharing!:-)

True to your adventurous nature, you like tornado! There was never a tornado where I lived, only whirlwinds. But, I had to go to places where there are only mountains or wast deserts. And, standing on mountain/hill one could see several of whirlwinds, raising to not more than 100 feet or so and 2m in diameter. I loved that sight!

You're welcome. I feel the most alive in the middle of a thunderstorm. If their are tornado's a foot that is even better. I do not chase tornado's, I go the other way, but just knowing they are there or have the potential to form, it's awesome.

Hello asawako48162,
I am glad that you enjoy the rain at one site and snow on other, it appears that you have a healthy appetite for experiencing nature. I guess, it would be hard, for both of you, to have unsynchronized liking for the time of the year to visit her homeland. Is it because she dislikes snow or because she likes her homeland winter!? Thanks for sharing!:-)

hmm,who dont likes the rain ?? :)
I guess every other person in this world likes rain :) but personally i feel the rain which we pakistani people have here cant be anywhere in this whole world:)
The way we people enjoy rain even after we have entered a mature level of life but still we enjoy rain like we did in our chilhood :)
The rain is like because it aint come 12 months a year otherwise noone will wait desperately to have it,kids wait hours and hours in a cloudy season starring on to the sky for rain and when a small droplet kiss their cheeks,a smile that appears on their face is precious.
I myself used to wait for rain but at that time i couldnt went out to enjoy it,we used to live with our grandma and when all used to sleep @ day time,my bed was beside the window ,i used to see and wait for the rain but we were not allowed to go out of the rain until its 7:00pm :-s,and that was really very annoying u can see rain outside there but you are helpless :)
And now when we have grown up and can go anywhere according to our will,so now we are living in an appartment, again i can just enjoy the rain just by standing in to our gallery and see other people enjoying the rain :)
The most enjoyable moment related to rain was,we friends last week decided to walk to the main campus instead of waitin for the bus to come after half an hour in a cloudy weather, and almost we walked on to a track for 2.5 kms :D and really that was amazing.
The weather was cool, breezy air ,friendz and havin pranks on each other, teasing and enjoying and a little dizzling as well :)
There are many more events realted to rain, aint remembering anyone.
Yap there i got another incident you can say realted to rain:D
Thats really funny but noone is allowed to laugh on that note :D ..when i was in 3rd standard,i was going towards my tution centre and it was raining since morning.
while walking i thought to go from that shortcut area that was quite muddy and in rainy season noone can even think to go from there,i thought if i will make my clothes dirth then obviously my teacher will send me back to home and this is how i will skip todays class lol D: like others obviously i also tried to skip classes,at that time who actually wants to study.
well,i went from that area but i didnt knew it would be that much difficult for me to pass it ,i got my both feet stuck in mud and when i tried to put them out,my both the slippers were tore out and of no use.I put my both the slippers in my hands and my clothes were more than enough dirty.
i went to the tution centre, havin dirty clothes and face and holding my slippers in my hands and all the 50 students were just badly laughing on me including my teacher,i thought after all this mess surely i willskip this, but no this wasnt the end,my teacher said now u have with these slippers how can you go home with naked feet, just sit here for 4 hours and wait until your father comes to pick you,huh ! i waited for my father 4 hours with those dirty clothes, allowing everyone to laugh on me and got a lesson never to do that :D

Inspite of all this the thing that makes me sad about rain is when i think about those people for whom rain will be a trouble.
for poor people, whose homes are destructed due to heavy rain, whose homes are ruined in floods due to heavy rains, people having accidents while raining, people who earn on daily basis are unable to go out of their homes to their desired places for earning, farmer's crops are destructed which are to be harvested @ that period of time,
poor people finding a place,a roof for shelter.
Only this thing makes me sad and i always wonder that If i am praying to Allah for rain, who knows what this rain brings to others,so i alywas pray for a beneficial rain, that makes us all happy :) by all means.

Hello UBiquitous!:-)
I can feel, personally, where it rains rarely or less, people do wait anxiously for it, I know I used to wait when I was in my homeland!
Yes, who can forget the childhood times and rain, a great time of enjoyment, celebration of nature, playing and yes, lots of smiles and laughter? I remember playing many different games that we used to play only in rainy weather, which was marvellous!
I am sorry that you weren’t allowed to enjoy that much in your childhood, I believe it was for your own good, at least in your parents eyes! But, at least, you can enjoy it now in full!:-)
Who would care for the bus, when one can enjoy the weather, while walking, especially in the company of friends!? Both of your experiences that you so kindly shared are interesting and lovely, the second one too!
Oh, it saddens me too, UBiquitous, thinking about those people. I have a friend, at my workplace, who always got gloomy in such a weather while we others were enjoying it. I asked and he told that it brings misery to his people (he lived in north of Pakistan), who don’t have proper houses, have roofs made from straws; so, rain combined with severe cold made their lives difficult especially when rain made logs wet and they couldn’t be set on fire for warmth in cold.
Thanks for sharing your experiences and feelings!:-)

I love all types of rain. A soft rain is nice. A gray day is a great time to watch some t.v. And a hard rain is great too. I love thunderstorms. As long as I have my rain bonnet and a umbrella I am fine with being out in the rain. But I do prefer to watch a great rain storm from home. There was a time where I was traveling on a highway with my mom and dad and a heavy rain started. It rained so hard that we got off the highway and waited out the storm. Another time the forecast said there was a 30% chance of rain.Since it was July 4th, Untied States' birthday,we went out to picnic. Well it rained and it rained really hard. The fireworks were canceled and we had to ride out the storm in a car. For years after whenever they had a 30%chance of rain in the forecast, we would carry rain gear and would assume it would pour.

Having a love for nature yourself, I could guess nearly all what you said een if you didn't say it, sarahruthbeth22!:-) I love thunderstorms too, the splashing, the sound, the dancing of wild winds, everything! We used to make a special dish in that weather that tastes most at that time!:-)
Weather forecasting can be very deceiving or at least not perfect. I love to play cricket on weekends and whenever weather forecast is fine, we friends make plan to play. Many a time, it has disappointed us! Thanks for sharing!:-)

I love it when it rains and there are just times that I can't help myself savor the rain. I still run outside and get soak with the rain. There is something in the rain that just envigorates me and relaxes me. It is one of the pleasures that we have in this life that we should savor from time to time and it doesn't cost us anything. I also love the air and dampness after the rain. Rain indeed is life giving. It is not only good for the earth and for the body but as well as the soul.

Hello cdparazo,
Very beautifully said! I am glad that you enjoy this charming and enchanting experience that nature has to offer. I do wonder at times that why and how people go for costly entertainments when such simple, yet quite blissful and relaxing entertainments are offered by nature, free of cost. And yes, it does wet our dry souls, relieving us of worries and showing that there is more to life than that. Thanks for sharing!:-)

I remember when I was a little younger. Me and my cousin, used to play in the rain. With our bikes, we go from places while it is raining.
I can never forget those days. Also we play and dance in the rain. We also lie down and let the rain fall in our face. But the cousin I was referring is already gone. She was hit by a car while on her way home.

I hate the rain, I stay away from it as much as I can. I get sick very easily, and being wet would not help one bit!!!
I used to like walking in the Summer rain, especially when it has been hot and sticky and we get a nice shower. But nowadays there is so much in the atmosphere that gets caught in the raindrops, I just feel dirty when I get caught in the rain.

Hello drknlvly6781!:-)
I understand how it can be troublesome or even depressing to some people. I think a lot of it has to do with demography but other reasons, like you mentioned, can't be discounted either. If one gets sick, it's only reasonable to stay away from it. You have an interesting point about 'things' in atmosphere, black rain would certainly make me feel disgusting. By the way, it's sometimes really a bliss to be ignorant (like about atmosphere) to enjoy such things, hehe! Thanks for sharing!:-)

In fact I don't like rainy day at all. Because it means it's so troublesome to go out. Especially when I want to have a good time with my son in the park, that means to say our plan has to be canceled. And we have to stay at all if it rains outside.

Hello youless!:-)
I totally understand your frustration with pouring rain especially when it destroys your other happy plans with your son. I hope you find something to enjoy about it with your son, like playing with him in rain!? But, maybe it's too cold there to play in rain, I think! My friends in Beijing and some other cities get frustrated by the sub-zero cold and snow! Thanks for sharing anyway and I hope you well, with or without rain!:-)

There is only one word that can define raining- Romantic. When its raining I like to stay in and watch it through the windows. I love the way trees sway to wind, their leaves all sparkling with water.
I love all kinds of rain except one with heavy thunder and too much wind. I love cloudy or gray sky. It is gloomy but it kind of makes me happy. I feel like singing or painting when its raining.
Whenever I had to walk in rain, I was in a hurry to reach some place. I always feel irritated then. And when you have to get into a crowded bus, dripping water everywhere, you will curse the rains. Moreover, I have specs and that means vision problem when it rains. But even then I have noticed, I tend to laugh a lot. Raining always keeps me in a good mood.

Hello PatronusCharm,
Welcome to mylot land, I hope you will be enjoying your time here!:-)
Romantic is a good word to describe the scene, especially when trees are responding to the rhythm of raining showers. You are not alone in not liking thunderstorms; many people don't like them as such or even fear them! I, too, don't particularly like wetness from others even though I love the raining showers. Hehe! specs do tend to spoil the fun, so I take them off, if I am wearing them. But, I understand that for people who wear higher numbers, it's not possible! Thanks for sharing!:-)

I don't really like the rain, honestly. When it rains in Florida it's usually really humid and uncomfortable. I do enjoy, however, a nice sun shower. I love when it's nice and bright and not too hot out and it starts to rain a bit. That's when I enjoy the rain. Otherwise, I can't stand it.

Hello Antithesis,
Welcome to mylot, I hope a smooth sailing and enjoyable experience on mylot for you!:-)
In heat and humidity, yes, it can make one uneasy. Where I lived in my homeland, the rains of August and September made environment humid and suffocating, causing sweat to wet clothes, which I didn't like, even though I liked the rain itself! So, I can understand your not liking it there! Thanks for sharing!:-)

Out, out, out! I love to walk in the rain. I love even more to dance in the rain.
I like all kinds of rain. Warm, softly-falling rain is my favorite to walk in, but I love to watch violent storms from a porch or other sheltered place, and then I tend to dash in and out of the rain madly, as if playing tag with it.
I like to be alone in rain now. When I was younger, I liked to be with someone else in the rain, but because of that memory, being out in the rain with anyone else now feels weird to me. When I walk in the rain, I imagine my first love's spirit walks along with me. I have a poem about that, actually.
When walking in the rain, I tend to walk for a while and then stand still and just let the water caress me, and then walk again.

It would appear that you have a perfect, and enchanting, meld with the rain. It is not that difficult to guess that you would like violent storms! Hehe!
I am sorry about your friend, I do hope though, that while it reminds you of him, it may also remind you of the cherished moments that you spent in each other's company.
Letting it caress you can be very blissful, sometimes it feels as though it is talking to you in whispers, while singing, whether loudly or quietly. Thanks for sharing!:-)

my family do love the rain so much esp when its a little bit strong. my kids and their cousins will go out in the rain and allow themselves to get wet. they run about the village with the other neighbor kids and play with them while the rain is falling.
when it rains we cooked something to eat to make us warm like a hot rice porridge with dried fish, drinks coffee or hot chocolate.
when we were still young my sisters and brothers will play with muddy soil to throw to one another as we run and run under the rain. we made also paper boats and let them watch to sail with the flowing water in the canal.

It can be troubling depending on situation. When it is accompanied by wild winds and I am going to university, it destroys my umbrella. Still, I enjoy it otherwise.
