Well i think i am not that lucky to get 100's of responses in any of my Discussion!!! But i see most of the users get 100's of responses in most of their discussions and i don't know what their secret's of getting huge responses... Does anyone know how they get 100's of responses... Cheers!!!

I wonder about that one too. I think part of it is a reputation issue... I have one friend who seems to consistently get hundreds of responses, and while his discussions are interesting, I think it's partially also because everyone knows him. I think my average seems to about 30-40. Some of my discussions on less popular topics get far less than that, though, and some on more popular topics get a lot more. I've only have over 100 a few times, though.

That's largely because you're new and haven't made many friends yet. A lot of people look at their friends' discussions first, so once you have some friends, you'll have better luck. I would respond to your discussion myself, but honestly I don't listen to the artist it's about. Sorry!

It's all about popularity, of course. About the number of friends you have. For instance I saw two discussions with basically the same subject...on eof them got 3 or 4 answers, the other one got about 40...It's clear that the last one was posted by a person with much more friends than the first. Nothing can guaratee you lots of responses, but there are some conditions that allows your topic to become more popular...It seems that highly technical topics or very very personal ones are not in this category. Mostly, popular discussions are made about usual activities that everyone does and have a thing to say about, or the ones that start surprisingly...the idea is to be visible...to seem interesting...

This is because they build a foundation first. Meaning, these people usually have hundreds of referrals, or friends who just respond to discussions. The responders usually do not post a question of their own but have maybe one or two posters that they visit solely. It is also a money making thing, you can earn more money by responding than doing your own post. It's not 'most of the users' at all, just a few that have a large fan base.

I think there is more than one thing that brings about that many responses. I don't get that many but maybe once. I have been here for over a year now. I don't know what the combination is that causes that many responses. I do think though it depends on the popularity of the member partly. Also putting a discussion in a question form might help. I think one of my discussions had 94 but most of them don't even come close to that number.

Well sweetheart the people who tend to get 100's of responses have lots of friends and get to know people! They also get to know what people like to talk about! I don't get 100's of responses but then I am happy with the responses I do get! Just enjoy yoursself and that will shine through sweety! xxx

The most I have ever had is 35+ replies. The discussions which get more replies are the ones which are open to loads of different opinions, or ones which everyone can answer. the biggest one i have ever seen is 850+ and that was that big because it could be answered by anyone, it was "what would you give up first, TV or Internet?" Thats what you have to do to get one =] Chris :)

The reason why these people get lots of responses is that they make lots of mylot friends. All the friends anwer his discussion and he answers their discussion. This is how they make 100 of responses in their discussion.

Yeah, I also wonder the same thing but I am sure they have lots of friends and their popularity helps to increase the response count in their discussions. My highest response count for a discussion is near 20 which is much lower than many people's but I am still ok. I know it is important to know the people, make friends and do some more effort to make your discussion heard. but it is also sad when you start a very good discussion, it won't be seen by many because you 're not popular enough. Although, the quality is really important on any activity you do on mylot. Both responding, and starting new discussions so keep up the good work and soon you will achieve what you want, at least I believe that way. I am too far away from that right now too :)

I was thinking the same thing myself a couple days ago and decided that I had to start a discussion about something that not only interested me, but was interesting to most people. It worked! I posted a discussion asking if anyone ever stopped reading a book in the middle of it and I got more replies, I think, than I ever did in a discussion. It was an issue that concerned (and angered) me and surely happened to at least one person every day. People felt free to rant about it. There are hundreds of discussions that get little or no response--I've made a lot of them!! You just have to think about what interests you have with other people and start discussing them!

my best welcomed discussions have 30 responses.while i'm not satisfied with it and keep thinking over to do better. in my opinion, there're indeed secrets in it.what i have summed up is listed below: 1.content it's the crucial element of a hot discussion. we should make sensible and universal content which interested most users simultaneously many members can answer it. that means most common users have some experience and opinions to share. one of my discussion 'do you still use cash' is such a welcomed example. 2.friends more friends, more responses.coz, your discussion is much easier to be seen on the right side of your friends hompage. thus, you have more chance to get response from your friend. i prefer to send friend request to each user who has responded to my discussions now.it's proved to work well. 3.update what does it mean? it's easy to understand. every new response or comment to your discussion has updated it,which makes your discussion reoccured in the first page of relative interest. it certainly brings more responses as more users are able to find it again. thus, update your discussions through comment yourself does work.it's favourable to rearouse others' passion to it. 4.place i mean which interest do you choose to post your discussion in? as we know, some discussion are suitable to many interests, thus we'd better to post it in hot interest such as people, life, etc. what i said above is proved by myself and also i'm trying to improve it.you can a try,i hope it does help.

I think most people who get hundreds of responses have also started discussions which only got two or three or none at all. Discussions will trigger a big response if they are original or amusing or about popular activities.

Another really good idea besides asking a question in your title is to have a sense of mystery in it aswell. If you can ask a question a create a sense of mystery like I did with my 'can you read this?' post, peoples natural curiosity will make them open the topic... of course, the more people read it, the more likely they are to respond. By a sense of mystery I mean that the title doesn't reveal the content of the post... something like that obviously works well on here. I created that headline after reading an ebook about 'buzz' marketing and taking the advice contained within it. So it wasn't my idea... I just tried it and it worked. If you're looking to increase your earnings on MyLot... then make sure you also respond to the responses you receive. By responding you earn more and also increase the chance of getting other response to respond to.

I don't think there is a way for any particular way to get hundreds of responses on your discussion, just start the discussion in it's appropriate interest category, label it well with a title and tags so people know what they are replying to, and wait to see what happens.

I found that discussions which get over 100 responses are concerning about simple questions. Usually it is hard for a very complicated to get more responses. Besides, you need to have more good friends here as they are very helpful. Now your this discussion has got nearly 50 posts which is not bad at all

Some of it is reputation. Some people have more active friends lists. There are also topics that garner more responses than others. Typically shorter and "easier" topics get more responses (what'd you have for breakfast, who lieks poniez, what if you won the lottery) . Also, topics on subjects that really impact a lot of people get more responses (US elections). There are even two discussions on the top of my head that placed an incentive for responses ($20 for best response, $1 per response)

I don't have any discussions that have 100 responses, but you are right, I have seen many that do. I don't know why some get more than others, even when the discussion isn't all that interesting, in my opinion. I can only think that they may have a big friends list and they have loyal friends that respond to all of their discussions. I must say I have wondered this same thing as you and I wish I hd that special knack to get more responses. I notice that 95% of my friends don't respond to very many of mine but I try to respond to all of theirs, at least the ones I have something to add to. A lot of the discussions my friends start are news items and I don;t have anymore to say to them. I have to rethink who is on my friends list.

I have thought about this alot too. And I am so glad that you made this discussion because I read through the responses and learned alot. It does make sense that people with a strong foundation and lots of friends would get lots of responses. :) I do tend to look at topics that my friends have responded to or started before I move on to other discussions. I think it also has to be popular interests too. If you are posting in an interest that doesn't have as many people in it then you don't get as much exposure.

Asking a qestion in your topic line can really help. I started one yesterday called 'Can you read this?' and so far have over 40 responses. Am busily to respond to all the responses. Earned 22 cents for yesterdays efforts. Highest earnings in a day yet... no big record since I've only been a member for 8 days :)
