I am not too fussed on what brand of clothing I wear these days. However when I was younger, I felt sorry for my poor mum, as my sister and i were fussy and we only wore surf clothes, such as ripcurl, billabong, which were quite expensive. I bet mum wished we were "Best and Less " (cheap clothing store) , girls lol!! Today I do like to buy clothes and Just Jeans or Fashion Fair, but I don't mind. How about you, are you fussy about the clothing that you wear? Do you have to have the latest trend? Or do you know of anyone that only buys a certain brand of clothing?

hi kiran-when i was younger yes i went for brand names in dresses jeans etc, but know i will go to shops like primark and quality seconds-they sell some nice clothes or i get them from sales. my son however HAS to buy brand name clothes-as he says you get what you buy-fair enough but he will make himself skint for the month when he has a spening spree!

Hi littleowl, I am the same, it seems as we get older we get wiser. Or maybe it is because when we get older we have to buy our own clothes and it becomes too expensive to buy branded clothing, lol. Good to see your son is learning the value of money by buying some of his own clothes. Thanks for your respone, little owl. Take care.

Well, I shop at second hand stores mostly. And I have a few favorite brands/stores to shop at but not because they what's "in". I don't much care about that. For jeans I mostly buy Lee's because they are the only brand that fits right. And only a certain line within the Lee brand. (I also figured out at the thrift store one day that Jones New York is a good one for me, too, but I can't find them anywhere locally.) I love Christopher & Banks sweaters and tops but I always buy them either second hand or off the sale rack. I don't think I have ever paid full retail. (Part of that is I have a hard time paying $50 for a sweater, part of it is I can't really afford to do so even if I wanted to.) I like to shop at Kohl's and Younkers (aka the Boston Store in some areas) but I always shop off the sale racks there, too. My oldest daughter has to have "the" brands- I think most of her stuff came from Delia's last fall- but she lives with my parents so it doesn't make any difference to me. My younger daughter doesn't really care about brands. She wears what she likes and doesn't pay much mind to what brand or style...if she likes it, she wears it.

You sound like my best friend, she is a good bargain shopper, she likes her brands but she very rarely pays full price like yourself. I also think Lees Jeans are a great brand, good quality. Have not heard of Christopher and Banks sweaters, have to look out for them in winter, not sure if we get them here in Australia. Lucky your daughter does not have expensive tastes. Thanks for your response, happy bargain hunting. You must love boxing day, with all the sales at the shops.

I'm one of those American Eagle/Hollister girls, lol. Most of my wardrobe is pretty expensive. The cheapest piece of clothing I own I think is like a 20 dollar wife beater. It's sad, but I don't ever go shopping so when I do I like to buy the pricey stuff. :)

Oh, hah. Preppy type, I guess would be the words to explain it.. And a 20 dollar wife beater is a wife beater that cost me 20 dollars.. (A wife beater is like one of those white undershirts that guys wear. Just it's styled for a girl)

Yes I am always buying a particular brand for my clothes, Once the brand suits you will never ask another brand there is so many reason for asking particular brand (1) when you are wearing clothes it given certain peace of mind & comfortable.(2) Do not compromise on quality & price. Cheap clothes if you wearing which your body is not adjusted there may be rashes in your skin and different type of allergy surfaced. As such I and my family members never compromise with quality and always try to buy branded quality like graviera, Reid & Taylor and other reputed company's brand. pkc3000

Wow you sound like the Brand expert, good reasoning behind why you like branded clothes. Never thought about rashes from non branded clothing, good point. Thanks for giving detailed response on the brands you and your family like to purchase. Happy shopping.

Hi cupid, thanks for your repsonse. Best and Less clothing, you are easy to please. I like buying clothes for my kids there however do not like women's clothing that they sell. Tailored shirts and trousers sounds good.

I can see exactly what youre saying!! One of my daughters is besotted with designer labels..her all time fave being Vivienne Westwood...she really wouldnt consider going out in anything that wasnt designer. Her twin sister however is perfectly happy just wearing chain store clothing, she will happily wear clothes given to her. The thing that maddens me sometimes is the amount of money wasted by my daughter on these `labels`. But thats her choice!!

I understand your frustration, designer labels can become very expensive. Maybe she could save up for some of her expensive clothes so she can understand how expensive it is too purchase them. I did not understand when I was a teenager the value of money. Good to hear your other daughter is happy to wear chain store clothing, few! Have not heard of Vivienne WEstwood, here in Australia? I am glad my daughter is not into designer clothes yet, she is 12. Hopefully she will be happy with chain store clothing for many more years, lol. Thanks for your response.

My husband and I both prefer Jockey underwear, but beyond that we're not too bothered by brand names. If it fits well, if the price is right and if it's at least decent quality then I am there.

The only brand I have to have is for my jeans, and that brand is Aeropostal. Since I can remember thats the brand I bought. I know I have two or three pairs that are a different brand and they don't get worn very often. Only if I really did not feel like doing laudry. And those I found on sale for next to nothing or I would not have bought them. Aeropostal jeans can be expensive but I try to get them when they are on sale and it makes them not too bad. I wear jeans every day to work and going out every thing so I have to be confortable in them. I don't mind spending the money on them because they last for a long time. I have had one pair for about 5 years now - thats not to bad. Anyway other then my jeans for any thing else I don't care what brand. Shoes, shirts, dresses, sweaters they come from every where or should I say any where I find them on sale.

I love jeans too, it is worth spending the money on good quality jeans as they last a long time. The good thing about jeans too, is you can wear them anywhere: to work, out, or shops, etc. Thanks for your response.

Im really fussy with my clothes. When I was younger I never had anything and always looked so awful. So I guess it made me think I have to have the best today. I dont go to overboard but my fav is aeropostale. Its not to expensive really. I usually get good deals when I go there. 20 dollar jeans and shirts for like 5-8 bucks. At walmart its usually 15 for jeans anyways so I figure why not spend the extra 5 bucks. Id spend more if I had to cause I really do like the clothing.

You don't sound too fussy in clothing. $5-8 for pair of jeans that is a real bargain. Here in Australia to buy jeans it costs you anywhere from $50- 150 for a pair of jeans. Thanks for your response.

With particular clothes I'm not bothered at all, I love vintage clothes and clothes from charity shops as I love wearing anything unusual. When I was younger I remember when 'brands' were all important but I always remember my Mum telling me we couldn't afford it. At the time I wished we could but now I'm really not bothered! What I am tempted by are shoe brands such as converse and vans. Also I have a bit of a Dr Marten fetiesh!

I don't really care either way. If I could afford it I'd probably go totally high end, but because I can't, it doesn't matter to me. I just wear what looks good and what fits. That's it! :]

I'm not addicted to any particular clothing lines or brands. If I shop, I choose clothes and buy them according to their style, price..and of course, if it looks good on me and if its comfortable to wear. Brand names would be a plus but should not be "pricey".
