A chemistry professor who raised an earlier warning flag about toxic lead levels in toy jewelry didn't have to look far for evidence of similar risks in Easter items such as plastic eggs.
Thirteen of 45 items purchased off store shelves and tested by Ashland University chemistry students had paint made with lead, according to Jeffrey D. Weidenhamer, who has made the toy testing an annual spring rite for his students.
Hae the kids be careful. I guess nothing is safe anymore.

It is ridiculous how everything that kids touch these days seems to be covered in lead. But, you know what? When we were kids (or at least me) everything had lead paint and no one worried about it. LOL We worry so much about these things, and yet we all survived our own childhoods. It is kind of like the whole bottled water thing. Everyone wants bottled water, never tap. And yet, more than half of the bottled waters are exactly that, tap water from places that have decent tap water. We are worrying ourselves into ulcers and stress. Personally I think it is time that we all relax a bit.

thank you finally someone agrees with what i have been saying. it seems that nothing is safe for our kids anymore. yet for some reason kids seem to have more wrong with them today then when i was younger. if its not the toys paint its the water and if its not that its something. people need to relax and start living again. i have a friend that is really bad about this kind of stuff. she was so bad she didn't even let her son play in the dirt and he was bad at 4 he had to have outside toys cleaned off before he would sit on them. not my kids by the end of they day they were so covered in mud and dirt about all you could see was their eyes.lol yet my kids aren't sick that often(other then my middle sons ashtma)and her son seemed to be sick all the time. you would think that people would see this. use your head people!

Aretha, my kids are like yours. All five of them have always been exceptionally healthy, and truly, I let them be kids. Play in the dirt, run in the sprinklers, play with their toys. I figure if I stress over everything that the media tells me, I would die of ulcers before even one of them graduates from high school.

I am surprised that toys are still being made with lead in them. How many stories have we heard about this in the last few years? Sigh.

I thought most things were not painted anymore - but dyed?
If the manufacturers having these things exported into our country can not abide by the FDA regulations, well for goodness sakes after a couple violations shouldn't they be banned from selling products here?

These days everything is getting polluted and it should not be jaw dropping that toys are getting painted by lead paint. Even the food we eat is getting polluted, mountains melting, greenery dying, KYOTO protocol not followed, etc. what more buddy but they are trying their part to warn the public that is what appreciated and i like that part.
