Valentines regrets

It was valentines day and we were hurting for money. So I told my husband not to worry about getting me anything. I figured chocolate would just make me fat, a card would just get thrown away and flowers would just die. So I told him lets just save our money and use it for more important things. Well Valentines day came and went and my husband didn't get me anything. I knew I told him not to but I was still mad. I was upset that he actually listened to me and didn't get me anything. I knew better than to be mad at him because I told him not to get anything but I really didn't think he would listen. I felt so bad and guilty for being upset with him.

Oh I have done this a few times, I would say the same as you about not bothering and saving money for other things and then at the last minute I would think I can't not get him anything and so would buy just a little something. Then I would think that because I had done it, then he probably would too, only to be severly disappointed when I had nothing!! And it does hurt and upset, I dont know why but it does, this year I set us both a budget of what we could spend on each other, so that way we were not spending loads but at least we were getting each other a bit of something!

I made my husband a Valentine treat and a card and bought him his favorite snack. I thought he'd at least make a card or something...but I got nothing. I wasn't real happy about it and he felt a little guilty so he got me a little something a couple days later.

Any woman especially the younger ones would always like a gift especially on Valentines day. At the back of your mind, you really want and expect a gift. But reality says it's not possible and you just did what is expected of you being a considerate wife. You may have received nothing tangible, but you have given your husband a very special gift...YOU. Your husband must have loved you more for being very understanding and supportive in all undertakings your family is going through. Right now, maybe he is telling everyone his appreciation and his love for you and how lucky he is for having you...and that is a more lasting gift than material ones.
