I have a 5 year old and we are going to color eggs of Friday and all I bought was a basic egg coloring kit. Do any of you know any tricks to getting your eggs to turn out really neat? I want to teach my daughter some different ways rather than the traditional dunk and then put stickers on them. Please give me any suggestions you might have.......Thanks

I was going to make the writing on them with crayons suggestion, but that's already been done. Hmmm... I'm not sure. When I was younger the thing that was the most fun for me was letting the eggs sit in the dye -forever- and make really bold, vibrant colors.
Every now and then blending the colors (dying it one hue and then dunking it in another) was fun, but... I don't know that there's really anything fun or exciting to suggest. It was fun as long as they were pretty.

When my kids were growing up we used to boil the eggs and then draw designs on then (maybe even names) with crayons or even just wax. We would then put them in the dyes and when they came out the mane or design was left without color, the wax would only let the color go through to the eggs. Another thing that we would do is to color only part of the egg and then return the egg and color it in another direction with another color. You could have several colors that are increasingly darker that you started with the darkest color and dunk it only partly and then when that dried put it in the next lighter color so that you will wind up with eggs that are colored in circles.

Years ago when my kids wre small ...we always used to boil the breakfast eggs on easter sunday morning in food colouring.
A few drops in the pan of water does no harm, the colour comes out evenly.
Maybe they could then be decorated with little stick on thingies!!!
