I just watched Flicka, and I thought it was a great horse movie. It was about a young girl that was trying to convince her father that she could tame a wild mustang. She played a very strong willed character, and wouldn't back down, even when she got hurt. I think I'd definitly recommend this movie. Beware though, it got me to cry, which is a good sign, I like a movie that gets me emotionally. What are some of your favorite horse related movies?

I haven't seen the new Flicka yet but I will when I get a chance. I do remember the old My Friend Flicka movie starring Roddy McDowall though and I have of course read the books. Good stuff.
I have seen Hidalgo, that was certainly full of beautiful horses. I did like the movie but the ending made me sad.
I haven't seen "Horse Whisperer" yet but may someday.
I have seen the Black Stallion movies. 'The Black Stallion' and 'The Black Stallion Returns.' They are very good. I've read the books too by Walter Farley, those are super good. There was also a fairly recent movie 'Young Black Stallion' that was good but not as good as the first two movies. It didn't have the same characters and was sort of a pre-quel to the Black Stallion movies.
There was a series on TV years ago about the Black Stallion 'The Adventures of the Black Stallion' starring Mickey Rooney and Richard Ian Cox. It was an excellent series and you can get it on DVD now.
I saw a movie on TV once called 'Two Bits and Pepper.' That was a good movie. Two little girls are "kidnapped" sort of and an older horse and a pony have to save the day. The horse and pony talk though only to each other and not to people or anything. It's a cute movie.
Some of my favorite horse movies were done by Disney many years ago. There's 'The Horse in the Gray Flannel Suit' and 'Miracle of the White Stallions' I loved those movies when I was growing up and I love them now. In fact, I had to buy them on DVD last year!
Disney also did 'Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken' That was certainly a good movie. In fact, I need to buy a copy of it on DVD for my adult daughter for Christmas, she'd love it!
There's an old movie, really old, called Misty. It's based on the book by Marguerite Henry "Misty of Chincoteague."
While not strictly a horse movie, the zebra movie 'Racing Stripes' is a cutie and fun to watch.
There's some animated horse movies that are pretty good [even if they're supposedly for kids!], 'Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron' is a good one.
I know there are a lot more horse movies out there but right now I just can't remember any more!

I have not seen Flicka, but have heard it is great. The many I love are listed. Seabicuit is one we watch over and over. The Horse Whisperer is great, love Racing Stripes, Dreamer, etc. Acouple more we like Breaking Free and Coyote. If you check ebay, sometimes you'll find titles you haven't heard before. All time great is International Velvet. Anthony Hopkins is coach. Good cast.
