Since we have become slaves of Internet, we have no time to think about our other hobbies and likings, but just imagine if you did not know anything about Internet...what would you enjoy doing the most.....For me....I think I would go more for long walks to inhale some fresh oxygen and enjoy beauty of nature. What about you..???

Ameen - One of the best things that has happened in my life.
We have become slaves alright. I always mange to unshackle myself to go for my evening strolls in the beach. If internet is not there I will sure read a lot more and watch plenty of Hollywood movies which I was doing full time before the internet. At times a period a little before that when I used to listen to the Binaca Geet Mala with the wonderful comments of Amin Sayani in a Holland Philips transistor hugged closely seems to be the most wonderful enjoyment in my life.

Hello DD, This is a very nice topic of discussion. Indeed our world starts and ends with Internet. The usefulness of Internet is undebatable, we all know what a revolution it has brought to the world! However, we are getting slaves to mice and the monitors and in the process putting on some gross weights and becoming couch potatoes. Children hardly go out and play these days!! This scares me a lot! I can go on and on and on but let's not digress. Being a reclusive person I just love listening to soft music and reading books (as you know). Internet has replaced books to a great extent and I regret it a lot. It's not the same reading e-books and real ones, isn't it! Going for a long walk is very alluring and good for health as well if it's a good picturesque surrounding. But that's a myth here in Calcutta!

Yes there is, but far off from my house. Most of them are well groomed but very artificial with everything going perfect. Even the trees kind of wave on time at their gesture and stuffs like that. I miss real countryside ambiance which is why I like it so much when I am at our village. It feels great!

Dear Mimpi....... Nice to see you after long time, and you have said something very right.....our world starts and ends with Internet...and another fact is that this will continue....lol. yeah I already know how well you write and how much you love to read books...try to read real book instead of reading from net.......lol and I am happy that you enjoy your world of soft music.....I am sure there are some good places in Calcutta, where you can inhale some fresh oxygen....lol. Thanks a lot for your reply dear.

Yes, you are right in a sense that we have become addicted to internet. Frankly speaking, broadband internet services has started here in Delhi only few years back. Previously, we need to go to various internet caffes to enjoy internet. But since I got it at my home, things have changed drastically ....and when I joined Mylot....things or say life changed every more drastically........LOL! and I find myself addicted to it. When it was not there, I used to listen to Radio, instead of watching TV. I still love listening to Radio, now a days it has imporved a lot. In yesteryears there were few choices, I would listen to short-wave stations like Radio Cyclon,BBC, Radio Germany and Voice of America etc. However, now a days, one can enjoy the luxury of listening to FM stations, which have started just few years back and Delhi alone, there are atleast 10 stations, where you can catch with latest bollywood, classical, Indian and western music. Moreoever, now a days even Mobile phone comes with in-built FM, so whenever I am feeling bored, I just switched on my mobile or transister to listen to nice melodies at any FM station. I love to read newspapers, magazines and story books. If I am alone, I find out the ways to pass my time. Reading gives me immense pleasure and it is an exercise to my mind also. So English or Hindi whatever interesting material is available, I go for reading. Excellent Post!

wow deepak , you seems to be genius in all ways.......there is so much that you still do together with Internet .......unfortunately I don't get Hindi radio here so I am missing a lot.......but anyhow, when ever I get time I hear songs on PC. I somehow have lost interest in reading magazines etc... I think it is only due t lack of time as I am too tired with my job and house work. I think I spend more time watching TV........Thanks a lot for your reply deepak and have a great day.

Yes apsara, you are right that we become slave of inyernet .But internet has give lot good things and friends to us. We know most of the friends due to internet only. If internet is there than we didi not know more about world. it is because of internet only we can communicate and get information about most of the things at any time. We all may not be good friends and too closed without internet and even unknown to us. If internet is unknown to me than I may stay with my small world of old friends and relatives. Iam totaly unkonwn about my sis. With out internet my best enjoyment would be TV particularly sports channel.

Here I will completely agree with you Mahesh......Internet has taught me a lot, infact it was only after chatting with different kinds of people on Internet that I got matured and broadminded, before that I was like a frog in the pond.....completely unaware of what was happening around the world, outside my world.........Thanks for your reply. And nice to see you back.

I like to do every weekend what we do back then when our son was little. Its feeding fish in a pond, watching them eat, going up a mounting and having a picnic by the mountainside, just riding around town in our scooter, nature trailing in the forest. But since he is a teenager now and has his own life, I take my time to do some craft projects such as crocheting, painting and parchment craft. Well, I can say I am not "yet" (and dont want to be) a slave of the internet as other are other beautiful things to do!

Dear gabrielle.......it makes me sad to think, how our children grow up and then they get engrossed in their own life.....I know this is nature.....but still.......it pains a bit... Anyway, I am happy that you are using your time in better things and not being slave of internet. Thanks for your reply.

That is a frightening scenario for me. In January of 2004, I was diagnosed with ALS. I am in a wheelchair, and I can't speak. If it weren't for the internet, I would have no link to the outside world. Friends and family have stopped coming to see me, so I would only have the TV to occupy me! http://www.ferncohen.com

Well, I was first introduced to the Internet in 2000 so I had alot of years without it. Before the Internet I watched a lot of movies, read alot and did a lot of crafts. I still do all those things although not quite as much but I still do. I don't ever see me giving them up either. !!HAPPY EASTER!! **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

In this past days, I am really too occupied to sitting in front of my PC and going around the internet cyber space. Well, if there was no internet, I'd go back to the basic, that is, reading and writing my journal on recycled notepads. Most definitely going to the nearby forest park for it. This time, though, we have wifi connections, we don't have it on areas where we could breath good fresh air, most of which are expensive coffee shops and restaurants. It is better then to stay in front.

I have life outside the internet, aside from working on a regular day job, I also enjoy time going out with friends and nature-tripping. The most interest that I consider as hobbies are reading and music, either playing or simply listening to my favorite music. I believe that the most wonderful gift that's been given to us is, to enjoy life and appreciate every each and one of the blessings we receive from it.Having experienced that, I'm sure that there's nothing more for us to ask but just live it to the fullest..

So why don't you just do it? I lived most of my life without this and so it is not hard for me to imagine other things to do. I do go for walks and I read a lot and I write and sew and spend time with my kids and friends. I never watched much tv at all and so developed many things that I like to do. I do, however, see how this can be addicting. I limit myself to certain times that I will be on here. Sometimes I do get carried away and have to literally force myself to get up and do other stuff.

Well, I'm pretty much a nature lover. I usually spend my free time in the beach or if not in some parks. If I have a long vacation then I would spend it to my favorite hang out in the mountains. Its my favorite place even when I was young. It a 100 kilometer ride from my place and there's a waterfall there that the water is very cool. There are also cottages there for rent. Now that I am married already, me and my family go there once in a while to enjoy nature and refresh our mind and body from the ever busy city life.
