A couple of days ago I was surprised to see that my reputation in mylot went down for some reason. I have a Blue Star and 10 points reputation for How many months. And I must admit that I was a bit affected by the change. Smiles were back when I saw that Blue Star again.. How about you guys.. what are your reaction if you saw your reputation here in Mylot went one step down?? Do you get affected?? Or ever feel bad and think who gave you a negative rate?? Do you honestly care about your reputation on general aspects or things around you??

I am always a little bit sad when my reputation goes down. I sometimes feel that I have been voted unfairly. Mylot is a website that is open for debate but many users will rate a response negative if the response is challenging their point of view. I do not feel that I should be judged on my opinion of a situation. For example: there was a topic started telling mylot that someone neighbour's granddaughter was raped and I stated that I did not think it was appropriate for that topic to be started in respect for the young girl and her privacy. I was rated negative and was accused of, if it was my daughter, letting the child suffer and not getting her help. I did not say that I would not help the child, I said that i would not post it on the internet for alot of people to see. As a result of wanting to respect the girl's privacy I was given many negative ratings and my reputation dropped. It's not the reputation that I care about so much, it's the way that if you do not agree with the topic started then you will be given a negative rating. There must be a more fair way to rate the replies. Like having to give a reason why you are rating it negative.

I feel sad to because I went from ten to nine and feel that it was because of my discussion on Jehovahs witnesses and how I disliked being preached at when I had my own relegion. I thought that the idea of a discussion was to present our various views and to respect each others views on any topic. I think you have a good point I would like to know what the reason was for mybeing put back to a nine. I mean is it not free to make a discussion on something you really feel you want to get others views on. i did not do this to bash anyone's religion only to show there are two sides to the door to door relgious approach. I honor their relegion while at times they do not honor mine and that was worth lowering my reputation.i feel it is not quite fair. does not a debate consist of two differnt view points

Coz sometimes different people different attitudes.. Whats funny about some of them who cannot take a little harsh advise to make them feel a little better they contradict to that statement from the fellow mylot member who is just trying to help. And what do we get.. A negative rate because they dont want to be corrected.

I was rated negative because I informed someone that Anorexia is not making yourself throw up and that that was bulimia. Why would i get a negative reaction for that? I have been suffering from disordered eating since I was seven years old. If someone is misinformed about an eating disorder I feel that they should be shown what is correct so no one ends up suffering as long as I have

Yes for me it is important coz that tells you what kind of personality you have and how helpful you are and you tried to work out to reach that reputation star which is hard to reach.. it will take time to gain once it is lost.

Yeah, dear ayou, many of us here do have experienced this every now and then. Definitely we would feel glad to see a lovely blue star sitting above our avatar, and of course we will feel a bit depressed if seeing a red star instead of the blue. Frankly speaking the reputation what we have possessed here is always the best motivation to push us to keep on moving forward.

I have got an answer for this. Last day my reputaion was 9, it was 10 day before yesterday. What i did was like commented to each and every response I gave to other people. I had some 2-3 comments for each response i gave and it climbed immediately to 10 again. I do care about my reputation as I feel a blue star is worth having in front of ur ID. Yes, it afffects me whenever my reputation goes down.

The star beside your user name is your reputation star. You have a Yellow one at the moment with a number 8. To gain a good reputation, your fellow mylot members will rate you.. you can see that negative and positive sign. After reading all the comments posted on your discussion, you evaluate the comment and see if you get the answer that you need to know or you feel that he or she gave the best response to your discussion.

do not feel bad I was up to ten now for several weeks and was shocked to see I had been put back to a 9. I do hope to get back up to ten. I care only in that I had hoped I had made some friends and wondered if I had hurt someone in some way as I never meant to.

Sometimes words can really hurt specially if you are speaking for the truth. If you try to reach out with a member that opens a discussion asking for help and on their end they cannot comprehend and they go beserk because they are being told or given an advise.

My reputation didn't go down since I was here. Fortunately, my reputation, from the silver (7), it went to red (8). I'm really proud and happy when I saw this change. And if ever my reputation will go down, I'll be very sad and disappointed. I think I will reflect if my posts are bad or such. And I'll strive to do better.

Wow! Congratulations! You deserve it , I suppose! I don't know if I deserve mine. I just went around the many discussions that I can and shared my opinion and ideas about the topics. I just noticed when I reached more than a hundred posts that I have the red rating on mine. Then it as I reached 500 posts, I got the blue mark. Wow! It is indeed rewarding. I used to rate those posts that made an impact to me and that I find helpful. Even if I don't put my comments if I find it worth the praise, I rate if positive. I never rated anyone negative, just ignored it when it doesn't deserve some rate. I respect others opinion even though I don't agree with them. Most of the time, I agree but I shout loud my opinion if I don't.
