I really did not realize all of the health benefits of using the spice Rosemary in cooking. I do like its flavor but seldom use it. You can check out the link below to read about its antioxidant properties and how it can help fight everything from GI distress to cancer! I wish I knew more ways to use Rosemary in my cooking. At present I add some to mashed potatoes (along with garlic) and if I make an omlet I sprinkle some Rosemary on it. What ways do you use Rosemary?

I did not know that rosemary has antioxidant properties. but I usually add it in my chicken recipes. I have tried growing it and so with basil because herbs add flavor to our food. I believe they have also add benifits to health. From now on I will have to use it more often.

I have a use for Rosemary that I just love...it may not extend the full benefits of the cooked version..but I take it off my plant outside my door and wash the stems carefully...then I place it in a mesh bag and put it in freshly squeezed lemonade...I leave the rosemary in the lemonade for a few hours and even overnight...I LOVE the flavor..and I can remove it when I want...without leaving the sprigs in the pitcher...but usually just before serving I will put in new just for the great look... I have tried it with many juices and even in water with cucumbers!!! It really adds a great subtle flavor depending on how long you leave it in!! I do use it in cooking...eggs, meats, chicken, fish, potatoes...anywhere I want a little extra flavor!!

I bought this huge container of Rosemary and roasted Garlic at Sam's Club. There was a demo, and they were cooking salmon with this blend. I use the blend on chicken, I like it on pork really well. You kmow, in Victorian times, when each herb and flower had a message or a meaning, they always said "Rosemary for Remembrance", studies indicate that rosemary helps fight the inflamation associated with Alzheimers and dementia.

The quote I was thinking of was from Hamlet, actually, and Ophelia says it. I have read in several health publications that it actually is true. I did a little search, and actually the ancient Greeks believed it was for improving memory. The seasoning brand is Tone's. Maybe you can find it in another store.

HeHe...I'm humming the same song!! The rosemary is WONDERFUL in the mashed potatoes. I put both garlic and rosemary into them when I get ready to use the mixer. I don't know if the benefits diminish with drying..that would be great to find out! What I am currently using is dried, but I just got a plant and will start using some from it as well!

Rosemary seasoning - Very good tasting seasoning
I put rosemary seasoning in chili, spaghetti and vegetable beef soup. I like how it spices up those foods and makes it really tasty. But then I like spicey foods anyway but this does add to the taste.

I haven't tried it personally, but I know rosemary is generally used to garnish grilled fish or chicken. When my rosemary plant becomes big enough to harvest, I'll get to try it! For scrambled eggs, I use basil.

I did not know Rosemary was good for you. I love the way it smells though. In fact, I think it smells better than it tastes. I bought a big container of Rosemary Garlic seasoning and add it to soups, chicken dishes, potatoes, eggs and even pizza. My family loves the flavor but the kids don't like the fact that the little Rosemary bits get stuck in their teeth. I might actually buy a spice grinder and run it through that before using it again.

Try rosemary with lamb. Oh boy! It's so good. Do Americans eat much lamb?

I like it with chicken. I use it with it most of the time. I don't use a lot. Just 'some' so that I know that it is in there. I also use it in mashed potatoes. Not all of the time, just on special occasions. Do you use fresh or dried. I find that I like dried better. I guess that I find the flavor more concentrated. Speaking of which, I need to put that on my grocery list, thank you. LOL

Wow, I didn't realize it too. I am fond of using rosemary in almost all the dishes I cook. It's my favorite because it smells sweet in my food. I usually chopped them and sprinkle in any meat, seafood or fish and chicken dishes. I use it just like I use black pepper... as spices. When you have fresh rosemary... use it when you are roasting (meat, chicken, fish) it gives a great flavor to the food and delicious smell. And I usually sprinkle some chopped dried rosemary on my salad dressing whether mayo or vinegrette.

Wow! Thanks for sharing, I never knew! The things we dont know about simple ingredients like that is amazing. Theres people with terrible medical bills trying to find the right medicine to cure them and maybe a life can be changed by adding herbs to your diet.

We do not use salt so we tend to use a lot of herbs and spices. Rosemary is one that gets used a lot along with Taragon and garlic. In fact, we use just about every spice quite frequently. Cant go wrong using things that Heavenly Father has made. rosemary is great in homemade pasta sauce, soups, cassaroles and so many other things. Chicken is wonderful in the crock pot with lots of rosemary

After all these years, I started cooking with rosemary a few months ago. I use in in any old thing I'm cooking. I put it in spaghetti sauce, chicken, fish and soup this week. I may not be using enough because the flavor is very subtle. I would love to eliminate salt altogether and get by with herbs. ...whit

Good news! Thanks for sharing that! I use rosemary pretty often. I love it in chicken dishes. One of my favorite dishes with rosemary is pork roast. I just get a pork loin roast, mix salt, black pepper, garlic and rosemary. Rub the salt and spice mix into the pork loin; brown it and stick it in the oven to cook. Rosemary goes wonderful with pork!

I actually don't like the taste of rosemary but, I do like the smell of it. When the hubby and I first got our house, his mom planted a rosemary bush in our backyard. Back then it was about a foot tall. Today, 7 years later, it is about 3 or 4 feet tall and about 3 or 4 feet wide. And that is with us trimming it back each year. It makes the backyard smell really pretty.
