According to the news, the price of popcorn will rise soon due to the increasing demand for ethanol, and alternative energy made from corn. Ethanol is a potential source of energy and a good substitute for oil.
My husband and I usually watch movie on Saturday nights. We usually eat chinese first then movie. After paying for the movie ticket he would go buy popcorn and soda.
One time, after paying for the movie ticket, I told him... "Don't buy popcorn anymore so we can save money, besides we just had supper (chinese), right?". He was so stunned when he heard me say that. I thought he would instantly throw tantrum right there and then. But knowing that there were other people around, he talked to me calmly and said... YOU CAN'T WATCH MOVIE WITHOUT POPCORN!" And that's that. He turned around and headed to the popcorn counter.
Really? Is it a prerequisite to movie watching? Does popcorn really go together with the movie?

Honestly I dont follow the conventional way that whenever you watch a movie, you have a bucketfull of popcorn with you. I dont like Popcorn, its taste and the way those particles stick in between my teeth. The first time me and my boyfriend watch a movie together, he was astonished that after we bought a ticket and headed to the counter I told him we will buy nachos dipped in cheese instead of popcorn. He asked me twice "Are you sure." He even offered to buy popcorn with cheese but I said firmly NO. We ended up buying nachos for me and popcorn for him..

I know what you mean, that's what I don't like about popcorn too, it also made me choke. Thanks for sharing and sorry for the late reply.

I never buy food at the movie theater...it's way too expensive. Usually we just eat before going although we rarely go to the theater at all anymore. We used to go pretty often and we'd bring candy with us ;)
These days we either fix chips and salsa or a bowl of cereal or (rarely) a bowl of popcorn and watch DVDs at home.

I agree food is more expensive there. In fact we paid more for the food than the movie tickets. THanks for the response and sorry for the late reply.

I thinks it's already a given that when you watch a movie in the cinema, you have to buy popcorn. I like getting popcorn when I watch movies, I even bought my own so I can pop 'em when I watch movies at home.

Pop corn is not necessarily my theater food. I may just buy Piattos, or Hershey's kisses, Hotdog on Stick, and Magnolia Chocolate/Selecta Moo or any chocolate drink in a tetra pack. Pop corn is usually my last priority when choosing. I can always cook that at home.

I understand. There, we have a lots of choices. But here, you only have popcorn (and some chocolate/candy bars) and soda. So you don't have any choice. Thanks for the response and sorry for the late reply.

I eat popcorn at the movies every now and then but I like the chips and cheese better. so I could go without eating popcorn at a movie.
