Does Your Cat Watch Television?

If s/he does, which show is her/his favorite? My brother had a cat that LOVED to watch that Western show called Gunsmoke. Every night at the same time, Garfield (the cat) would run into his room, jump up on the bed and watch it. He always ran into the room as soon as he heard the theme song play. If you blocked his view or turned the TV to another station, he'd stop looking at the TV and look at you lol! He'd stare at you until you turned the TV back to Gunsmoke or move out of his way. Have any of you ever had cats who did something like that?

Hello dear lancingboy. I am laughing while reading this interesting yet clever cat of your brother's. I think that he loves to watch the show with interest. This is a different cat from most of the others. Thanks for sharing.

Wow that is pretty amazing that the cat does that. I wish mine did! My cat stares at the tv sometimes if there is something moving really fast but I don't think he knows what he is doing really. I think that is adorable though. The fact that it comes running into the room whenever the show is on. It's weird how the cat recognizes it. I wonder if Garfield is thinking.. "wow what will happen next.." lol I have never heard of a cat doing that until now. Maybe mine would if I just found them the right tv show to watch.

Oh, so cute! I don't watch television myself, but family does. They don't seem interested, BUT once when there were animals (wild animals) and birds especially, of course they were interested. I have been long considering of purchasing one of those wild animal videotapes that are sold for cats to watch TV, especially when nobody is home, for their excitement. Have you tried these before? Gunsmoke story is too cute!

I've got one that watches TV. Not sure if she has a favorite program. I'll have to ask her. :)

My kitten always stops what shes doing to watch the animal shows i like watching. If they aren't on she couldn't care less. I previously had a Siamese cat who would attack my tv if a bird was flying on the screen. As terrible as it may sound I found it to be vastly amusing.

I had a cat that loved to watch animal shows. She would really watch, too. Sometimes, she would go up to the TV and try to "catch" whatever was on the screen. She was especially fascinated with other cats. I remember the cat that was on one of the first America's Funniest Home Video shows watching a car race. It looked like the cars were going to come out of the screen, so the cat tried to "catch" them as they "came out". It was so funny.

interesting discussion, but my cats were never interested in tv, though sometimes if they see moving objects they like to grab at them.

My folks used to have a cat that loved to watch the news. She was waiting for the weather man to come on. This was back before all the computer stuff and he still used a stick to point at the map and she'd chase the stick. My mom always watched the weather to see what it would be like the next day and I don't know how she knew what was going on since Cat was always in front of the TV chasing the stick and we were laughing at her!

None of my cats ever watch the T.V. But when i was younger and still living with my parents we had a cat that everytime there was football on he would sit on top of the T.V and try to get the ball with his paw, much to my dads annoyance.

my cat does that in the morning. i wake up to his face staring at me like he is doing esp trying to wake me up so that i can feed him...then i go to the bathroom for my morning piss and he comes after me, meowing. then he walks me to his food area, making sure that i am following him down the steps or he will stop, sit and look at me like he is saying, "aren't you coming?" then when we are near his food area, he gets excites and runs and skips there, anxious to eat. animals have ways of talking to you, telling you what they want, to eat, drink, go to the bathroom. my late dogs understood certain baby talk words...peepee meant go out to go to the bathroom, byebye meant to go on a car ride, yumyum meant food or eating time. i cant remember the rest...my late dogs are in Heaven...

I use to have a cute that would only cuddle on couch when I was watching TV. Otherwise she just wasn't interested. My cat now is scared by loud noises and runs away when the TV turns on.
