People have told me it's best to eat slow, because you eat less and you enjoy your food more. You should set your fork down after every bite. I rarely do this. When I'm hungry, really hungry, I eat so fast. I might get indigestion, but when I'm done, I can move on to other things. I must admit though, some things do taste better when you don't inhale them. Still, I don't want to be at the dinner table for an hour, just because I'm eating slow. What about you? Do you eat fast or slow?

There is a guy on The Learning Channel that was talking about this yesterday. Its a new show thats on... he was talking about the importance of eating slow and how it results in weight loss. Its amazing.. I dont think I can do it though. I'll settle on watching what I eat and exercising!

I've heard that when you eat slow, you get fuller faster and tend to eat less food than normal. Thats what I've always been told, anyways. I dont know how much truth it holds.

HI Marcola..
I enjoy when it comes to my favourite dish. Usually I eat at an average speed. But when I am in a hurry or very hungry I almost try to gulp. (I know this is a very bad habit.)

I eat faster than anybody does on the table but I don't get choke. Whenever, I feel hungry or not, as long as there is food in front of me, it will be finished within 5 minutes. People who dine with me telling me there is no competition on how fast you can eat, please eat slowly wait for me! . Despite their words of persuasion, my speed of eating is uncontrollable. They even suggest to me that I should eat grain by grain of rice, one by one at one time. I think by using this eating method, I can stay at the table from dawn to dusk.

You are kind of like me Marco. If hungry (and alone) I'll eat a bit faster. Most times though... I'm a slow eater. Even on rare lunches with co-workers... usually I'm trying to catch up!

I eat a bit slow at times, if i am with my closest friends cause i enjoy my talks with them that my food is hardly touched. I eat fairly fast at home though cause i am always in a hurry to do something else.. like immediately got to the pc, watch tv, etc.

Well, the people that tell you that is best to eat slow are right. Food should be chewed properly for better digestion. Also being in a rush when eating doesn't allow you to enjoy your food the way it should and you might tend to feel hungry again earlier.
How long you take eating might also depend if you're eating alone or not. Usually when we're eating with other people we tend to have a conversation and take longer eating. The whole meal is pleasant and people have time to eat slowly and chew properly.
WHen one is alone there is a tendency to eat faster. Still proper chewing of food and eating a bit slower will be beneficial. Doesn't mean that one hour is needed, but slowing down a bit might be a good idea.
I do eat slow. I taste the food, chew it properly and enjoy it. But I do tend to eat faster when I eat alone,it's only natural.

I eat way too fast, I think I always have.
I know it's better to slow down, but I can't.
My husband eats slow and it drives me crazy that I'm always done way before him and then I just sit there. I'll try to eat slower, or wait before putting more on my plate, but still he is way behind me, so I usually end up eating more.
Sometimes I'll finish and have to leave the table because I know I'll eat way too much. Not very sociable of me, but my weight is already and issue.

I eat fast and I don't know that it's considered as bad habit. I don't know what's wrong with that when you're just used to it, right? Well, I eat fast because aside from being used to it, I feel I won't be full if I eat slow. I don't like chewing food so much that it seems to become liquid when you swallow. I want to feel a little lump to go down to my throat to my stomach otherwise, I don't feel like I am eating and I won't know when I would be full.
