A couple of days ago my daughters laptop package arrived complete with my upgrade to wireless network so we finally had our own computer time whenever we needed, well today my eldest daughter arrived back with her laptop too and also got connected, then we have an old computer that is set up just for my little boy to paint and write and play games on that doesn't connect but he wanted to feel part of it. Earlier today I was online so were the two girls on their laptops and my litle boy playing Croc on his. I looked round and just thought this is so funny and just like an internet cafe or a busy office only difference was that we were all still managing to carry on conversation whilst being online. Its fantastic as my eldest really does need to do a lot of revising and my other daughter stay in contact with her friends and I also get to go on MyLot all at the same time. Have you got wireless or more than one computer, do you sometime feel like your home is an internet cafe rather than a home. Please share. Ellie :D

hello
oh yes i know exactly what you mean our place is just like an internet cafe some nights, the four oldest kids have a laptop.and theres a computer in the main room, all the laptops are wireless, the girls go on myspace ect ang the youngest on his music sites and the oldest boy goes on his aviation sites.so it does look like an office sometimes yes.

LOL I thought about taking a pic earlier so would love to see, weather so bad today, usually this time of year we would have gone doen to the beach for a long walk. Our beach is two miles long, but we all ate a large meal and stayed in instead. Would love to see pic if you find. Ellie :D

my wife and I IM each other from across the room because we are usually listening to very different music. We also have a twitter accounts specifically for the the two of us. You have to think really hard what you want to say to another person to get it in with 140 characters and spaces. As sad as that sounds it kind of has brought us closer together really thinking about what we say.
On the down side if you send an IM and the reply is LOL and you know no such thing happened it makes you wonder sometimes.

Oh we haven't got as far as IM each other yet but the other night I had a discussion going on here about fancy dress costumes for boys beginning with intial J and as I was reading them out she was emailing or IM her mates with the ideas, so we now have the Joker, James Bond, Jimmy Saville, Jedi, Junkie and Julius Ceasar all going to a party. LOL. Thanks for sharing. Ellie :D

All it will take is one of them finding a picture of a hot guy and deciding they need to send you the link so you can all enjoy. We also conference people in, mostly old friends who don't live close by anymore. We all came of age using the internet when text based bulletin boards were popular and the only way to really chat online. hell that is how my wife and I met back around '94. She was a friend of a friend and we knew each other for two years before a job brought me out this way.

I'm really pleased that you've all got computers now.. No more fighting! As you know we have a wireless network. In fact I have just been watching a film whilst using my daughter's laptop because she has gone to spend the night with a friend. Now I'm back on the main computer as I have drained the laptop's battery. We tend to not sit in the same room, but all over the house. But that's largely because none of us want the other to see what sites we are on and who we are chatting to. Happy computing.

Well as you know up until three weeks ago I had exclusive use anyway, but with daughter retruning home and eldest back from uni for a bit this wireless facility has come just at the right time. The laptop my daughter got with the package is a really good one too, so we are all happy. (Believe it or not I had two new responses on the Compromise - when two people want to use and only one computer from 3 weeks ago!) Glad I made the decision to upgrade. Hope you enjoyed film and enjoy the rest of the Easter break. Ellie :D

I will share my experiences that I have with clients. I have worked at a technical support dept for an ISP before and also handles networking. I noticed that most of our clients then are installing wi-fi at their house. MOstly those who have office laptops or students that are sharing room. It is convenient for them to have a wireless access point to access the interent. Just a tip, make sure that your wi-fi is secured, so that not just any other people can access your internet. This would cause the connection to lag down, if your entire neighborhood is able to see your network. You can call your ISP for this one.

Hi Thank you so much for sharing your experience and advice. This was actually a major concern for me as I do know someone who goes online everytime his neighbour logs on somehow so I have already spoken to mu ISP provider and they done some configurations of some sort and gave me special security codes to use, which I think makes it secure. My desktop I use isn't wireless just the facility is there for the laptops my daughters have to use. I really appreciate you posting. Ellie :D

My home is like an Internet cafe for a long time now. At least for the last 8 years. I have home based business with few servers and computers. I always have one computer for house guests to use.
HUGS

Thats lovely that you also have one for visitors and your grandchildren to use. I wish had had done this ages ago now. I can come home from work and get straight onto MyLot without having to wait for them to finish conversations and log out of whatever they are doing. Its great. Ellie :D

It was so funny seeing them all sat there on the laptops and computers yesterday it just felt like an interent cafe, but with both girls home it makes it so much easier. Theres no arguments here now, they prefer laptops and I prefer the desktop so we are all finalyy sorted. Bliss. Thanks for sharing. Ellie :D

I am the the only one using the computer in my apartment, cos I live on my own.LOL.It's very convenient having your own computer and connected, you can use it all day long without warring about the money.I used to go to the internet cafe before I have my own computer. They charge you a lot,and the air there is very bad,too many people smoke. The earphone is so tight that give me a headache. Now I don't have to suffer anymore.Thank God!

Hi hun, what a sweet scenario you've discussed, no wonder it made you think it was funny! I have a desktop PC as I don't like working on laptops - the keyboards are too small and I prefer large monitors too. My hubby has a laptop which he sometimes uses when I'm online so it might be amusing to see us sitting in different rooms using our technology but he's actually not very active online. He's on Facebook but rarely logs on and when he does, he asks me to help him with the various notifications and requests he has received (hahaha) but mostly he's looking up football new and scores and world news. I guess I can't really say my home is like an internet cafe, considering hubby spends so little time online. Hope you're having a lovely Easter break hun. x

Hi anonymili, Thanks for sharing. I also prefer to use the desktop so when I got the upgrade complete with a laptop I let daughter have that one and eldest daughter returned back yesterday with her laptop so timing was perfect. You have a lovely Easter break too. I'm back at work tonight but get a day holiday later in year for it so don't really mind. Ellie :D

that's great. In fact my home has used the wireless router for a long time. So we can get online anywhere we like at home. Our home is also like an internet cafe. Unfortunately my neighbors are not interested in share the internet fee with me, otherwise I can share the internet with them and both of us can save some money.

Yes, I do have a wireless router at home. Its really funny since my wife and I have each of our own laptop and sometimes my instructor friends come along and carry their own laptop. So our house is also like an internet cafe. The good thing is my wireless router has a long range and sometimes we just sit outside the house with some coffee and with internet connectivity.

My home is usually like that, but at the minute both my sons and my hubbys laptops are out of action due to the cables breaking! So now there is only mine in action, and I tell you what, as soon as I move to go to the loo or make a drink one of them is in my chair that fast I am suprised they do not burn their butts on it as my chair is still hot from mine!! I always say to them, I bet you wont follow me into the grave that quick! So today I am ordering new cables for them and hope they get here fast. Grrrr its my computer.
