When was the last time you panicked about losing something?

Today was the day I panicked when I lost my cell phone. I took a walk up the road to bank a check and buy some art supplies for the up and coming fun fair at my son's school. I also stopped off at Noodles Company for a small plate of Japanese pasta with chicken and diet coke, and read my book for about 30 minutes or so. I left and walked home without even realising my phone had fallen out of my bag there. When I got home, I couldn't find it in my bag. I dialed the number thinking maybe I didn't take it with me, but just got my voicemail instead. I never turn my phone off unless the battery went dead. I panicked and tried dialing the number again and still got voicemail. I was going to call Verizon Wireless to let them know I might have lost it incase someone was trying to make calls but then I thought, it would be better if I just call all the places I had just visited first. I called Noodles Company first and was very relieved to hear someone had turned it in. Apparently the Manager had turned off the phone so that's why when I tried calling it, it went straight to voicemail. I know it's just a phone but I use it as my personal address and phonebook and all the numbers, addresses including email ones I need are stored on there. I was just happy that someone was kind enough to hand it in instead of taking it for themselves. Care to share any of your experiences with me?

I am so happy for you. I would never want to lose my cell phone and have to start all over again with everything, including having to buy another one. Good going. I am sure this will never happen to you again.

Look, you are asking me to think. I am not in the mood to think right now, but I will do my best. Let me see. I lose my keys all the time, but I guess that does not count because they are never gone long enough for me to panic. Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most. So do not disturb, I am disturbed enough already, hehe.

No way is it just a phone for me either sweety , I keep everything on there! I really do need to sync it on my pc as I have the software installed now - in fact I think I am going to do that as soon as I respond to this! Erm the last time I panicked about losing something was this morning - I forgot where I had put the sample bottle that I needed to get hold of before she went to the toilet! She really needed to go and I was panicking a lot! Luckily I found it right in the nick of time and all was well! lol xxx

It isn't that fancy sweets - all you need is a usb cable and some software on the computer - means if you lose your phone you still have all your numbers, it is great for uploading photos and puttong music on your phone! xxx

I did something similar with my phone a while ago. I went at around midnight, to an all night Tesco store, near Gatwick Airport. Obviously, being open all night an at the Airport, this store gets busy. I remember it was drizzling with rain and I packed the shopping quickly into the car, and travelled the ten miles home. A while later, I wanted to send a text message... couldn't find my phone. Eeeeeeeeeeek!!! I did the same, and dialled my number but no luck, and no answer either. So, I phoned the phone company and asked them to lock my phone. Then I phoned Tesco. They hadn't found it. The only think I could recall, was hanging my phone on the hook on the trolley, whilst I shopped, so had to make the ten mile journey back. How lucky was I? The trolley hadn't been used since my use of it, and the phone still hung there. Phew!!! What relief!!! Brightest Blessings, my friend.

Phew alright! Glad it was still there when you went back. I was very happy that someone honest handed it in when they found it :)

Yes, I was really lucky, since the store is right on the perimeter of the Airport, near the North Terminal. It could so easily have gone for a walk! I'll bet you were happy at getting yours back. There's too many personal details in those phones, to lose them. It's like losing a period of our life, huh? Have a great day. x

The last time I panicked about losing something was over a cell phone too. I went to use it while I was on break one day and it wasn't in my pocketbook. I started freaking out because it's always with me in my bag, you know? I looked all over my work and I was asking everybody but nobody had seen my phone. I called my husband and asked him if he had seen it and he hadn't seen it either. I was panicking by this time. I finally get to leave that day and my hubby tells me when I get home that he had found it outside in our driveway! It was really cold at the time when this happened. It must have fallen out of my pocketbook the night before and I didn't realize it because I rarely use my cell at home since we still have a landline. I'm just glad it was okay, cold, but okay. I know it might seem silly to freak out about a phone but alot of information was in that phone and other people have info stored in my phone, like addresses and email addresses. I wouldn't ever want their information stolen.

I hear you Flight and that's the reason why I panicked because of the personal phone numbers and addresses and things. I don't often use it unless I need to and when I am out and about town it does come in handy at times when I need to get in touch with my hubby for stuff. Thanks for dropping by and hope all is well with you :)

I can't think of the last time I panicked after losing something. But, if I lost my cell...heck yea! I would panic like panicking was my job! Mine was a pricey model and it has all of my contacts and calendar events in it. It keeps me very well organized. It has personal voice notes for reminders that I have made while driving. And, I just love my cell phone. LOL! So, I can understand your pain of having lost your phone and you were lucky that it was turned back in instead of kept! It is nice to know that there are still some honest people in the world!

I am still living in the dark ages, and do not have a cell phone. So all my numbers are in a book, or on the puter. But I have been known to loose my keys. I have literaly had to train my self to put them in a dish eveyday or I loose them. Just ask my kids, they remember when mom use to loose her keys all the time. I am glad you found your phone Rachel. That is great they found it and you were able to get it back. Happens alot were I work, we always put them up till the owner comes looking.

I have done the same Deea and have placed a small container on the bench to house our house keys, car keys and security card to get into our building. I have been locked out of the apartment once, and my hubby was not a happy chappy. He managed to get it open after almost an hour at it. It was on the night of the Superbowl last year.

I actually don't remember! :) I am a really forgetful person and i have been forgetting where i put my things, especially my keys, i would just find them in my posket after sometime. so what i do is put everything in front of me... Sometimes if i lose something and did not feel panicking, i just know its somewhere near me... is it true for some of you too? that if we dont get panicked its just within our reach? :D

I have almost lost both my engagement ring and wedding ring too. They both are a little loose now (think I lost weight on the fingers LOL) and I take mine off quite a bit. Sometimes I forget where I put them, only to panic and then find them again.

I can relate to that because I have often misplaced our house keys too. I had to place a bowl on the bench so I can keep them in there and know where to find them next time.

The last time I panicked big time is when I thought I lost my wallet. I am organized but tend to be forgetful. It is just payday then and I have withdrawn from my ATM. It happened on a restaurant as I was treating myself a good meal. Then suddenly while finishing my baked ziti, I trembled when I couldn't feel the wallet on my jeans's front pocket. I rummage my bag, took everything out but no sign of the wallet. I look everywhere near my table, still no luck. I remember going to the ladies room,so I decided to go there. As I was going to the ladies room I am nervous that is not there and someone already took it. It seemed that the world stopped at that moment , I am thinking what I am going to do ? how am I going to pay ? I quickly opened the cubicle where I went before and there, I found my wallet on top of the shelf . I quickly grabbed it and went back to my table. I checked my wallet make sure that everything is intact and it is ! It took me minutes before I could eat again as I was so nervous, happy to be able to find my wallet again. I went home feeling the luckiest person at that time. Until now I have a phobia about loosing my wallet, I seem to check it every now and then if its still there.

Losing a wallet and or purse would have me panicking too. I almost did and luckily found it after lots of searching. One other time it was actually stolen and found in a rubbish bin over in the next building. The money was gone but not my bank card. I would of been asking myself those questions too if I had lost my wallet while at lunch. You might have had to wash the dishes to pay for your meal :)

I had a similar experience, also with my cell phone. I got home from work a little early and decided I would go out for a nice little run; I went through and took a nice little jog around the block twice, with everything in my pocket. I specifically remember putting my cell phone in my pocket... yet when I got back home I realized that it was gone. That was pretty much why I took a second run following my footsteps. After about an hour, I realized that I lost the phone. There was no finding it; I actually called my insurance in and got a new phone. It was a panic, mostly because I always worry about it because it's the only form of communication I have besides my computer. It's all I got in terms of a phone. But like I said; I got a new phone and it only took a couple of days.

Argh sorry that you were not able to find it. Was great that you were able to have it replaced - I better ask my husband whether ours is insured since he was the one that bought it.

how strange that the manager turned off the phone... maybe your calling it was irritating her, lol. I wonder why she did not get the home phone number from your cell phone and call you to let you know it was found - unless that is considered an invasion of privacy. The last thing that I really panicked over was my purse which contained a recent withdrawal of 2000 dollars, we were heading to make a large purchase. I had absent mindedly left it in a shopping cart and then the shopping cart in the return section outdoors. I am so grateful for the honest patrons that turned it in!

Oh my gosh Modestah, that is a large sum of money to be carrying at one time! I would of seriously freaked out if that happened to me. Just as well I don't carry much over $5 in my wallet, but I understand with a big purchase though. As for why the Manager turned off my cell? I don't know why either? I didn't ask as he was serving customers at the time I went back for it. It would of been sensible to just leave it on, well that's what I think anyways. Thanks for posting!

G'day maddysmommy, I could totally relate to your story up there. As for my experience, I am the person that goes everywhere with my bike and I could not for one second not going anywhere without my k4 bike. So, there was this one time that I went to the money-changer and I was in a rush. I parked my bike near to the shopping mall, on the pavement for a while while I dashed to make a quick money-change. After about close to 10 minutes when I came back, I noticed that my bike was no longer there. I panicked like hell. I ran like a madman, with the helmet still intact on my head. I rushed and asked people whether they have seen this color bike and etc. All said no. I squatted down and tried to remember whether I've left the key there, but the key was in my pocket. I really was so worried. So, I took the taxi home in a very angry mood and went home to get some sleep. Suddenly, I remembered that I should make a police report and then went down quickly. You know what happened? It turned out that the police representative had "towed away" my bike because I had totally missed out paying my insurance for that year, blimey!! It was not that I purposely did not pay, instead I totally had forgotten about my insurance payment, LOL!! The next day, I went to the insurance side and paid everything and got my lovely bike back. That was 1 incident that made me totally panicked and I could remember it up till now. It was kind of stupid on my part, actually and I really hope it wouldn't happen again. ;)

Awww sorry to hear about that zed! I would of been most upset if I owned a bike and it got taken without me knowing. I suppose police can do that can they? I didn't think they checked for things like insurance payments. Glad you got it back though!

Cell phone? I don't think I have one of those. I have a third arm with an antenna! My last panic attack was the day before yesterday when I thought that I lost my husband's business credit card. I had used it the day before and I was going to return it to him, but I couldn't find it. I checked all my jean pockets, every pocket in my purse, in my wallet, on all the tables and any other flat surface in the house. I even checked all over in my vehicle, but nothing. So, I finally resolved with myself that I had lost it, but as a last ditch effort, I picked up his wallet and there it was! I had put it back in his wallet already. I felt like I was going to pass out .

I definitely know that feeling as I have had it happen to me with my husbands ATM card (our main account we use for every-day stuff and bills). He was angry that I couldn't find it and I didn't blame him since I was the last one that used it. I too put it back in his wallet and didn't even check it until the next day!

I hate that when that happens, it's like locking your house keys in the house and or locking your cars keys in the car.
