I was hearing on the news today about new cyber bullying initiative for schools and i have to say i had no idea it was such a big problem. I myself have never experienced it in any form and find it hard to believe it can be that much of a problem.
As far as im concerned if you sign up to sites like bebo then you are setting yourself for a fall, and it should be easy enough to close any accounts if the problem worsens. I don't see why there is a fuss and i certainly don't think its anything near as bad than regular bullying.
Just wondered what other people thoughts were on the matter?

Sad thing is, recently I was cyber bullied by other ADULTS on another forum!!! Kids have an excuse, many of them really don't know better but what about adults? Yes its a big problem! Kids now not only have to deal with bullies at school (which I also did) but over the net too! Gosh.. whats this world coming to?

A lot of school-age children use cyber bullying as the consequence-free alternative to physical bullying. However, several schools and school districts now include cyber bullying in the official handbooks because children have killed themselves over things that have been said online.
It's a serious issue. Children are at an incredibly unstable point in their lives, and anything could set them off.

Well, some kids just shouldn't have access to certain sites. There are people out there that just don't put other's feelings into consideration. Children tend to be more sensitive to insults and will take it personally. I say, it can be just as bad as real bullying. There's no physical contact, of course, but there is the same use of words. (In this case, the people saying the words are behind computer screens. They have nothing to fear.).
