Is it actually possible not to believe in God?

I was just wondering. Is it absolutely possible for one to be incapacitated to believe in God. I mean, if one chooses to leave or abandon his/her religion, it does not translate to one abandoning belief in God. But for one to actually not believe that there is a transcendent being, is it possible? Aren't we naturally pressed towards belief in a being higher than us?

There is no god or higher being. We are a product of mother nature. We have evolved. It is easy to believe in the truth.

Evolution, nature and science: nothing in all that opposes the concept of God. Please, don't get back to the Dark Ages of the Inquisition of THEM vs US, science vs belief... We were quite over that, already.

Yes its possible not to bilieve in God but people in that state are you ussualy confused, I myself was in that situation. I bilieve that there is higher being. Why? well becuase when I was kid I used to see ghost and other wierd things that I'm not suppose to see and by calling God all might and praying they go away and come back later. I lost my faith when I was 15 and realized later that when I was litle kid. I used to call upon him to ask for help and this is how I reapy him by not bilieving. It was not good so that why i have faith in God

Lost? I don't know where you got that idea. I'm perfectly fine without a God. I don't need the promises of an eternal afterlife to keep me happy in this life. I actually feel much better knowing that what I do stays with me, and only me. Not some magical being in the sky judging my every moves to see if I 'sin.'

Just remember that what you "know" is as much a belief as it is for those who believe there is another thing after life. Neither "knows", both believe. In either case, live for your life, not what comes after.

I don't see myself ever losing faith in God, but since we can not control the minds, emotions, and beliefs of others, anything is possible. We are only familliar with living our own lives, we can never totally step into the shoes of those around us.

Isn't that exactly what atheism is?

Yes, that's the right term for it. But what I was interested in knowing is if it is actually possible for one not to have a feeling, or a some sort of gut instinct, that there exists a supreme being. I mean, atheism is one's choice. But can that choice be something that stems from a virtual incapacity to recognize a transcendent? I was thinking that it was not possible. But honestly, I am a little confused myself.

Yes I believe that it is true to not believe in God. But I am a christian. I believe that people are going to say what they want. People are going to believe and people are not going to believe. It is really a choice. I just believe that God is not of Confusion. He gives us knowledge and wisdom. I am reminded that our thoughts are not his thoughts. So in order to understand spirituality, you have to be in the mind frame of being in the spirit. Some people are carnal minded. And what I mean by that is people are just using their intellect. I can go on and on. But I want to be a light for GOD here on My lot.

I do not believe in God. I can understand why people like the sense that they are being looked after by someone and also that God keep sus all morally correct. However, personally I do not need this, fortunately I have a loving family and that is all that I need.

Many people find comfort in a magical idea that "god" (whatever his name) is a solution for problems. The idea of it may be, but "God" doesn't makes neither the problems nor the solutions. If he exists, he is beyond them. Or, if you prefer, he is in both of them, because it is our human nature that judges, enjoys and suffers them. God is transcendental. Our petty problems are mundane. But "do others as you want to be done" is a good advice both from a religious and non-relicious point of view, don't you think?

It is very possiable not to beleive in god. I don't think there is a higher being controlling us or that made us. We are just here, and when we die, were not here.

That reminds me of an old saying "there's no atheists in foxholes". For those not familiar it means that we all tend to turn to higher powers when we are in trouble. I don't know. I have always believed in God even when I didn't live like I did. I think it must be pretty terrible to not believe that God is out there watching over us, that this is it and when we die we're gone forever. No one there to protect us from evil or to right the wrongs done to us. I could not live like that. God has done some amazing things in my life.

Of course it is possible to not believe in G-d. And it doesn't have to be a reason. They didn't just leave one religion, or was So angry about the Church's stance that they just thought there is no G-d.No. There are people who Never were part of a religion . They are good people. They just don't believe in G-d.Your religion is a learned practice. But it isn't a must for everyone.

It is very possible. In fact, as the Bible prophesy, more are unbelievers than believers. It's not about religion, but a personal relationship with God through the Lord Jesus Christ. We have the tendency to believe in a higher power but that belief does not mean towards the real God. It's easy to say I believe in God but in actions and in our hearts, it may be different. But it pays to believe in God!

What is more important: that you believe in God, or that God believes in you?

For me, it is possible to have a non-believers in God.. Specially, if we talk about the creation of the world. The God-believer believes that the world created by God and He created all the creatures from smallest non-living things to the highest living creatures. From this theory, the scientists precisely disagree for it because, they really believe that the world is created by the different molecules that found in the outer space and the living creatures started from the single atom then it evolved until it becomes cell. Then from cell, it evolved and undergo a cell division until it reaches and separated then created new species... From this reference, i really agree from having a non-belivers in God..

I am one of those people, so I can testify that it certainly is possible!

There are people in the world who are not inclined to faith and believing in something above them. Many of these people are inclined to believe facts, plausible theories and things that have evidence attached to them. Religion requires faith, science (for the vast majority) can be readily observed. There is a difference between the two and some people simply opt for that which can be seen and interpreted. They choose that rather than depend on scripture changed throughout time or possibly unfounded ideas (faith).

For me, there are more believers than those who does not believe that there is a GOD. Its just a matter of how we believe our own GOD. Wehave different ways of believing that's why we have different religions. The thinking of there is someone/somebody/something that is higher to us spiritually is a fact that almost all of us can't deny. Maybe there are few who doesn't believe of it and believe that they are highest one. Me, I belong to the believers. :)

I doubt it is possible to not have some sort of feeling that there is a higher being out there be it God or not. If you think about the way Spirituality and this whole new-age culture has spread through our society there is a huge push towards "there's something else out there". But even if you say you are atheist there is garunteed to be something that you place as "God" in your life, be it, sport, money, family or friends.
