I watch news everyday, always covering many parts of our lives. But when it comes to politics,I seldom read them through, maybe just skim on the titles.
Actually, I sort of believe that the politics is none of my business, although I am a resident in this country as well as a member of this world.I just do not like it,and I think no matter how detailed I know about those things, I still cannot do anything.
So, do you care about politics,or you just live your own life without bothering about that?

Everything you do is connected to politics; the amount of tax you pay, your schooling, your health services, the road you drive on or the way you travel to work, the amount of money you spend, it is all decided by politics.
The way your local town or city is run and the way the world is, all depend on political decisions.
Nobody likes politicians but we are all responsible for giving them the power to make decisions which affect our daily lives.

Politics in this country is a joke. The point of keeping up with it is so that you can make educated and good decisions about who you want running your country. The real fact is that your votes and your voice do not matter. As long as there is a buffer between the people and the elected official (Electoral College), there will never be a point in voting. I recently read a quote about democracy, I can only exist for aprox 200 years. and in that time we will go from tyrany, to freedom, to prosperity, to apathy, and back to a dictatorship again. We are right at the end of our cycle. The end of the united states as we know it is coming.

I've heard Australians think exactly like you. Of course, it's just the generic stereotype, but most of my Australian friends could care less about who leads their country.
Personally, I can't really be bothered to care yet but I like getting into debates about politics. I won't keep up with speeches and all that, but I will look on the Internet when debates come up and see which side presents more rational arguments. (For me, it tends to always be the liberal side. :D)

Oh yes. Definitely care about politics. There's even the "politics" section of mylot and I'm generally active in it.
I do see what you are saying about general apathy towards politics and yes its appalling. So many people don't pay attention, so much so they'll simply ascribe all blame to whatever they want instead of looking further. They'll simply believe the news and not chance other sources or media. Sometimes people are to busy to follow whats going on as well (this one is understandable). You also end up with some people lacking certain knowledge of whats going on in the country (and the world).
There is also a sense of powerlessness from those that know and others that don't know as much in politics. People see rising costs, further hardships, activities carried out by government they don't approve of, neglect on other problems... the list goes on. In general people typically care about the "pebble in their shoe", what affects them immediately. If things are too distant or not of their immediate concern, they'll disregard.
