" Mylot " New Care give-a-way Contest. First to reach 100,000 dicussions wins

a brand new car. Would that be " cool for mylot to do " $10,000.00 cash prize for 2nd runner up. I bet this would really get some excitement if Mylot ran some contest like this. 3rd runner up, $5,000.00 cash prize. So many would be thrilled just to get the 3rd place winnings. That's not all, prizes to the next 1,000 to be announced.
It's no doubt people love incentives, prizes, cash money too. Maybe one day Mylot will get the idea to do some contest to really make a big splash on the net.
How would that sound to a you all ?

That sounds like it would be a good one. I don't think it will ever happen, but if it does, I hope I can keep up at the rate I have been. I love the idea of making money. Have a great day!!!

Yea, Mylot loves the idea of making money too, just a matter of sharing the wealth to grow more memberships.
As speedy mentioned in his post, something about a banner contest. That's good and all, but does nothing for me, but I suppose something is better then nothing at all.

that will be very interesting and challenging if mylot does that... but i don't think they are going to do something that luxurious as i am wondering where they will get the funds from... anyway, let's hope that it is really happening... :-)

Yeeah, i do agree with you that mylot should organize some these types of cool contest to do some excitement in all responders and mylotters. It will increase a total no. of mylotters and also people get excited to win and win...

yes it would be very cool if we had such incentives, but the point is mylot earning that much in order to reward us like that?
i am not expecting that much from mylot but i will be very satisfied if it announces 100$ random cash prizes by a lucky draw each month that too to some 25 people.

You know, people are not doing the math here what so ever. People ar making comments as if the contest would start, the contest would be over in one week and could mylot afford such a nice prize.
You sit down,, wait, your already sitting down. Ok, pull up your calcualtor and do the math. Your average post per day and how many days would it take you to reach 100,000 post.
Plus, you would have your share of no responses too.
As for 25 people for $100.00
To have a membership base of 125,000 and only awarding 25 is pretty cheap to say.
When it should be around the neighborhood of 1% of the data base.
Then you have a high to low prize award on the $ amount.

well that would be really great offer in mylot and i don't ever think i must have left my computer idle.i must have banged my head posting and posting...well but this may not be great for me because i have just started i week back..

Let's see how it would cost Mylot to much money. They did have a cost of writing the script and setting the site up. We don't know how many is on payroll. It could be a one person thing or could be a small few of JV partners running the show.
Then you have the hosting and bandwith cost.
As for the cost, well, we're all getting paid from free money including Mylot. Mylot shares their earnings with us.

I've outlined the fairness with replies above, everyone starts out fresh per say, the day the contest starts would be the count of the post you have at present. To give you an example, your post is 5187, this would be your zero / beginning point.

I read this and I thought that if we have to deal with weeding through alot of pointless discussions now, imagine what we would have to sort through then. Imagine all of the one word responses and 5 word discussions. I would love to see more incentives arout here but I think they should try harder define what a discussion or a response really is. Just my two cents.

You know if I really wanted to be full of knowledge I would spend my day at the library, better yet, just pull up the library on the net.
As for the number of words, that's easy. Must be at least 20 words or the post don't submit.
Just exactly what is quality. You have high school drop out, you have others on Meds. People make discussions to move on to the next to get paid.
Along the way, members develope a crowd, they all picth in and help each other out.

I think the reason they wouldnt do a contest like that is they dont want people posting a bunch of nonsense just to post. They would be spending forever going through legitiment posts compared to a bunch of garbage. I like the idea though personally.

That is why there are catagories. They would spending forever going through legitment post ? Don't think so... there not doing that now, they depend on the members to bring questionable topics to there attention.
You know they may have some feature in place based on keywords. But, would you sat all day reading post.
They probably have a running board set up where they can view each and every discussion as it's submitted.
People worry about things that are so not important. There are garbage comments already posted. But what may be garbage to you may be of interest to someone else.
As long as mylot has the feature to do sentence fragment post, then there were always be sentence fragment start discussions.

That would be so cool if MyLot really did something like that. I would love to win some cash but I wouldn't turn up my nose at a new car either, LOL! Maybe some day they'll run a contest similiar to that with smaller prizes. I'll keep my fingers crossed until then. Have a great day.

Oh no, don't keep those fingers crossed, they may get stuck and be set lifetime being locked in a fixed position. I certainly wouldn't hold your breath. But, should one day Mylot does this, then it would be a really suprise for us.

I don't think a contest like this would work for a few reasons. First being that people who have been doing this for years have a great advantage over someone who just started here in the last month. Second, a contest that focuses on the quantity of posts only invites people to start as many posts as possible without thought to what they're posting. You'll get a lot of "Do you like red or blue?" type questions instead of something that's actually thought-provoking. Or worse, you'll get people cutting-and-pasting from other websites (which I see happens often here anyway) with the idea that because it's lengthy, MyLot will consider it to be quality.
Instead of having a contest, it would be nice to just see the amount we're paid increase for those who contribute and dedicate time to a quality discussion. That would probably increase the amount of people who actually put some thought into their posts, while making others want to spend more time here to earn more money.

That would be a wonderful idea. But unfortunetly I don't see mylot doing anything like this. At least not with those kind of prizes. I know they have had banner contests in the past where the winner got $20.00 and the runner's up got something too. But I haven't seen them do a contest in quite awhile.

You know, it would have to be with what your present count is. You run a referral contest, you announce the mylot dream give-a-way. Then you have a start day the contest begins. Everyone starts at zero per say, but you still have your running count as we see now.
So, as you posted here now, your count is 181. 181 would be your zero start, from then on out, the fun starts.
