Random topics and reponses

I'm just a little bit despondent today. How come some of the topics that are really not saying anything, get so many responses and get rated so high? I spend hours and days meditating and thinking and deciding on topics, trying to submit something that is worth reading and that could mean something to someone else and sometimes I don't get any responses at all, or just 1 or 2. Do you guys also feel like that (I'm not talking about the "good rated" Mylotters here!), or is it just me? I haven't been on Mylot for quite a while because my life is a bit hectic at the moment, so missed a lot, and subsequently my earnings are also still very low.

I get the same feeling too from time to time. There are times that I expected a lot of responses to my post but ended up with just one or two or none to my great despair. But I have learned to accept it and have realized that what we many find interesting may be a bit too much or boring for others. To each is his own. But those 1 or 2 responses that I get, still makes me stay and i think that the post is worth all my thinking and effort.

I agree with you. It keeps me going just to know that I can talk to people here. The money is an issue to me though, because I'm really in need, but the writing and reading here on myLot helps a lot with the loneliness etc. Thanks for your response.

But will it help if I rate people, because you've got no control over who rates you and what your ratings are??

oh...same feeling ...lol...i still don't know the reason too...maybe the "GOOD rated"Mylotters are good at making sentences beautiful and smooth so that others will pay attention to and they are good at feeling in others' situations so they can always earn many support...don't worry, just continue to try , like me...take care!

It seems that you and I are almost at the same level. I think I've got about 43 posts, although I started a month ago already. I think that when you think about something, you must write it down and submit it to Mylot! Maybe that will work :)

Its like this because those random and short topics are E-Z!
They require little or no thought and can be responded to by a child...
The longer posts don't get any attention due to how long they are and the need to match the discussion with a suitable response.
Also Kathryn, for newer members, its better to respond more to discussions and members to get your name out there and your friends list populated. That'll improve your chances of getting responses to discussions (or at least being seen in the first place). Having the larger friends list and establishment in mylot, that too is a reason some people have high response discussions.

I have noticed this too. I thnk the reason for it is that the easy not so thought out discussion is probably the easiest to respond to, like this one. I bet this discussion got a lot of responses, and I will see as soon as send this responses to post. I am 3 months behind on my emails so that is why it took me so long to respond to it. I like it this way because then if the discussion gets deleted it is gone by the time I get to it, so I am not responding for nothing.

I know what you mean. I don't make a whole lot of discussions but I love to respond to others. I have had to delete alot of crazy discussions today. I usually don't have that problem. I don't know why some members get more responses than others do and they have a higher rating. they must have alot of friends who make sure to rate them all the time and respond to them.
