We get told that we should sleep 8 hours a day but i get far less. To be honest i have seen it those who do get enough sleep are always feeling fresh where i just dont. I also sometimes when i can over sleep which i am told is not good for your body, Do you get enough sleep? how many hours do you sleep a nite? also do you nap in the day? how does your sleep affect you?

Sleep is very important to me. I make it a point to sleep at least 7-8 hours everyday. As long as I have enough sleep, I can go about my daily routine without feeling too worn out at the end of the day. Sometimes, when I haven't had enough sleep, I try to grab at least two hours to take a short nap. Then when I wake up, I find myself refreshed and ready to continue my daily duties. It is really important to have a good amount of sleep everyday.

i never get eight hours a sleep except maybe on the weekends and then i just over sleep and ruin my whole day and feel like crap but my normal thing is i got to bed at like 2 or 3 not beucase i want to just because i can never fall asleep i'm like an insomniac and i just think to much about things i need to be doing but i get up at 8:30 so i get about 6 in a half hours at the most but thats only on a good night. but i tried sleeping pills and i would take them to late and then not be able to get up in the morning. and almost every day i take a nap which is probably another reason i can't sleep at night. i wish we just didn't have to sleep ha

I usually sleep at about 6 hours a day and sometimes it feels ok, but sometimes feels tired. I think there should be another way to balance your sleeping times. Even if I sleep 8 hours a day, it sometimes feels more tired when I wake up when compared to a day which I slept only about 6 hours.
I don't know what really effects our sleeps but I really would like to be able to do my daily routine by not sleeping or sleeping much less. Because it is really a big loss of time and you can do so many things if you don't feel tired and need for some sleep.
Can you Imagine? For example, I am going to have some exams next week and I need to study, however my mood is not letting me do it because I am a little sleepy and tired. This is why I am mylotting now. And after that, I will sleep. What if I didn't feel tired? I would study for my exam now and I would post responses whole night until morning, and in the morning after having a breakfast I would go to university etc etc but it is really clear I could do max of a day!
Well, it was just a dream though. But also I have alseen a book with the name "Only fools would sleep 8 hours a day" I haven't read that book yet but as my girlfriend says it mentions people can do without sleeping 8 hours. It also says einstein and many other people had developed their own techniques and they used to sleep very less than us. I am not sure about the accuracy but seems true

Hey you are so rite about the sleeping 8 hours and feeling tried and sleeping 6 and feeling good...its strange because its so hard to sleep 8 hours as that means for me going to sleep to early which is not me at all, as that for me is a waste of my day but its hard because we really cant win....i find it strange that there are people out there who actually get the full 8 hours its good cus they always feel and look fresh....but you are at uni so i bet its many lates nites for you but if you are young you wont feel it but takes my advice and sort a routine out as it will come back to haunt ya....thanks the ruler...x
You actually a double of my thoughts..x

Unfortunately, I only sleep around six hours a night which is not enough for me. It seems there's so much to do and things I'd like to accomplish that it makes sleep difficult.
It bothers me that I don't get enough sleep since studies have shown lack of sleep raises your levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, which can reduce your immunity and make you more susceptible to illness. Lack of sleep can also promote weight gain. Something to think about, huh?

I used to sleep for at least 8 hrs. But laterly, I am very busy. So I sleep for far less, usually around 6 hrs a day. It works good for me. I nap during the daytime though. In a word, I put work first, then the sleep. By the way, I am a mathematican.

Some since kids sleep very less............those are not affected due to lack of sleep...........but the disadvantage is that it takes indirectly a heavy toll on your body health :(
Some ,sleep less only due to the work. They are very much affected if they lose even an hour's sleep. They try to compensate as much as they can.Its better than the above type health wise.
So,both has advantages and disadvantages. So find in which category you belong!
Cheers !

i think i will never have enough sleep no matter how many hours i sleep at night... i love to sleep and i usually sleep around 6-8 hours at night... if i sleep less than 6 hours, then the next day i will feel horrible and i can't function properly... yes, sleep is affecting me so much of how i will perform the next day... so i always try to make sure that i have enough sleep everyday...

I always try to get eight hours sleep because if I do not I find I get quite irritable which is unlike my nature as I usually tend to be quite cheery. There are times when I don't so I will usually play catch up on a Sunday afternoon by having a kip on the sofa. The biggest problem I find I have is actually getting off to sleep but once asleep usually sleep sound. Ellie :D

I get about 6 - 7 hours sleep a night, I could get a lot more but I do not go to bed until late because I always have something better to do than sleep!! I perform best on 8 hours, but I can just about scrape by on 7. Although I have days then where I cannot get going at all. If I sleep for 9 or 10 hours it is too much and I always feel like I am getting a cold so I would rather have 8 hours and then get up even if I do not have to.

Actually, I sleep in the morning, maybe 4am or 5am and wake up after 5 hours - 7 hours. Sometimes I'm lack of sleep and sometimes I'm overslept. I'm still sleepy but I need to stand up because there's a lot of tasks that I need to be done. My head is always aching because of my habit in sleeping and whatever I manage to do, I can't sleep early.

Yes, I think I had enough sleep everyday. But I sleep super late like early in the morning. I'm nocturnal type of person. I usually sleep around 4-5 in the morning and wakes up by lunch time.
It's so rare that I sleep in the afternoon or anytime in daytime. I can't sleep when the sun is up, I hardly concentrate and get my mind off from whatever's there in my mind.
Sometimes I oversleep and it causes me so dragging for like the whole day.

Hello! I usually work best with 6 hours of sleep. Sometimes I even feel good with 5. I think though that eventually it does catch up to you, because about once a month, I sleep in until 10:00 a.m. or I turn in early finding that my I can't keep my eyes open. These once a month sleep marathons usually get me through for the rest of the month. I guess its all a matter of what our bodies are used to and what they need. Sweet Dreams!

I never get enough sleep.Since 92,being in the business of bonding people out of jail,it was a 24/7 day week job, with very little sleep. After many years of this it really took a toll on me.I would spend many hours all during the night going from county to county from jail to jail getting people out, having 5 children and 10 grandchildren at the time, there was always something going on that i couldn't sleep during the day.I have never been one to sleep during the day,i feel like i'll miss to much lol. But,after awhile, and falling asleep at the wheel one night in the mountains of north georgia,i went to the dr.,feeling there was something else making me feel so tired and not just a lack of sleep, some test were done and there was in fact.I had Hypothyroidism, very severe, almost so severe to be in a coma they told me.So, if you feel you are getting enough sleep, and still felling tired, exausted for no reason,it is a good thing to have your thyroid checked. It is just a simple blood test.Good Luck to you..don't work too hard yasmin :)Have a Beautiful day

Seldom do I get a full nights sleep. Due to my sugar issues I have to get up several times a night to relieve myself, to put it politely. Then we have the animals running amuck getting into things. Top that with the hubby snoring. Forget it. Sometimes I just have trouble sleeping period. I have been known to go a week with only a few hours sleep. At that point I'm not real agreeable. I can get mad in an istant, or get a case of the giggles. We all prefer the giggles, trust me. I work so I can't nap during the day, but I have occasionally on the weekends.

I usually only get about six hours of sleep each night. And sometimes, I wake up a few times a night but lately I've been able to sleep through the whole night. I don't think six hours is enough because I often feel somewhat tired during most of the day. I have tried to go to sleep earlier but if I don't get to sleep by midnight, I will only get about 6-7 hours since I usually wake up around 6:30 or so. Once the sun rises, I can't go back to sleep for some reason.

I feel refreshed and recharged after adequate hours of sleep. I sleep whenever I feel like sleeping because our body naturally demands for sleep. If we sleep in inadequate amount, we feel like sick and need some rest... so it's important to have enough sleep everyday to gain back energy.
