What's the best Games For A Nintendo Wii?

I've recently found out I will be getting a Nintendo Wii as a prize in a contest (Thanks Swatcash -- The Best & Most Generous GPT in the world). Only problem is I am a lifelong XBox fan and really have no idea what games are good for the Wii.
I have only played on a Wii once when I got trashed by a Wii vet playing tennis. From what I understand the sports game comes with the Wii so I'm curious what other games would be good for me.
I love the Halo franchise, the Grand Theft Auto games and Madden's NFL football games. I'm not a fan at all of Super Mario Bro's or Guitar Hero. Any ideas Wii owners?

My husband really liked the Resident Evil game. He also got Medal of Honor but beat the hardest version within a few hours. If Metroid's out yet - I've heard that was really good. When it comes to Wii games, I'm a stereotpyical girl - I like the Sims 2 with Pets.

Yeah my borther's wife likes those Sims games, too. I'll have to look into the new Medal of Honor type games. If its the right type of game I'll love it. I know I've rented some GRAW games and those are fun on the XBox but they get pretty tough when you have to coordinate air strikes and land vehicles. But if its less complicated (like a Halo type game) it might be perfect. Thanks.

Well hopefully your Wii will be coming with Wii Sports, Jorm. Thats already a decent game. There is also Super Mario Strikers(soccer), Smash Brothers Brawl (watch out for possible read errors), Red Steel. There is also Wii Play which is similar to Wii Sports, but has different games. Madden 07 and 08 can also be found on Wii. Also look into Timespiltters on Gamecube if you want a shooting game.
You also have virtual console to get previous games on NES, SNES, Genesis, Turbografx, N64. You can also play Gamecube games on Wii.

Yeah they are saying it'll come with Wii sports but I better wait and see because I think I'll get the most out of the sports games to start out. I'm leaning towards maybe renting a few Wii games first to see how much I would like Madden with that type of controller as Madden is one of my yearly faves when it comes out.

Well, it's too bad you don't like Mario, because Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros. Brawl are supposed to be really good. Try to get Zack and Wiki, Link's Crossbow Training, Wii Play (extra remote) and Rayman Raving Rabbids. (Good work out game, this is. Although, the game is a collection of mini-games. It's still fun, though. Wii Play is also a collection of mini-games, but hey it's fun and it comes with a remote!) You also might like Godfather: Blackhand Edition. (Similar to GTA, I understand.)
