McDonalds'

I ate a number two from McDonalds yesterday which is two cheeseburgers, fries, and a soda. I haven't eaten McDonalds in a long time. So it was good to taste those delicious cheeseburgers. Then I hear on the news that fast food may actually be good for you. And I'm like what is wrong with these people? First they tell us something is bad for us and then they say that it is good. And I'm not only talking about fast food here. What do you guys think about this? And how often do you guys eat McDonald's or any other fast food restaurant? What do you order?

That's very interesting, with the remark on interest and economic reasons. I haven't heard about it being healthy either, which I think is a lie. I think your right about your point, because if we are told it's healthy more people will go there instead of eating at home which is cheaper. So it would boost the economy.

Yeah I know. But when you think about it it's not abou it being healthy at all, it's about eating it in moderations. If you eat it once in a while i'm not saying that it's healthy but it won't have not too much of a negative effect on you. If you just eat it once in a while.

They are constantly saying this. And to be honest I couldn't care less anymore. The only thing that I will look at on the food side is recalls of tainted or contaminated food. They say this gives you that and this gives you this. Like come on now. I thought you guys are suppose to be scientists and you guys don't even know what you are talking about. I put what I want in my body. If I get some disease whatever like cancer as they see everything gives you cancer I know that I have more cancerous cells in my body than another person. It is a proven fact that I have read years ago that it is not what you put in your body that causes cancer it is how many cancerous cells you have. Everyone has a number of them in their bodies. It's just some things that will react to it. But everybodies bodies are different. I go to McDonalds maybe once or twice a week.

I agree with you. These people are so called scientists and they keep coming up this thing. I actually just heard on the news something about coffee being good for cholesterol which I have. And it's just crazy because everytime I hear something like this I just laugh. It's like these scientists don't know anything or can't make up their mind. It's really frustrating too.

I agree with you. I will eat whatever I want as long as I eat in in small portions and exercise. That should be enough to keep me healthy for a few decades.LOL

Coffee and dark chocolate are good for cholestrol. That is even what the doctor has told my Dad. I also heard the dark chocolate one on the TV and on the radio. I say who cares what they say anymore as they are usually wrong anyhow. I will eat what I want.

To be honest I've seen some of the gross things they do in fast food places and I do try to avoid eating there whenever possible. If I have to eat while I'm out, I'd rather stop at the deli in the store and actually see how their doing it then get something that was dropped on the floor or worse. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I do not think fast food is good for you. First of all it is covered in fat. I'm not talking about the good fat that your body needs to function, but trans fats that cause weight gain and health problems. Fast food is also high in calories, and most of the time, not very filling. McDonalds is a good example of this. It never fills me up. So when I go there, I eat more calories in one meal than I should be in one day. Most of these foods are high in sodium, too. I would never believe that fast, deep fried food is actually healthy. Fruits, vegetables, lean meats, and the whole wheat bread products are considered healthy in my books.

Yeah I know it's not good for you but these people come out with the most crazy things. We know that all these fast food restaurants are filled with thousands of calories and they come out and say that it's healthy. But I still like McDonalds' but it's not like i eat there a lot. I only go once in a blue moon.

i still think that fastfoods are not good for you. whatever findings, breakthrough they call it.. its not good for you... how can grease be good for your body?! of course not... they aren't good for your money too. hehe they cost too much nowadays and their burgers are getting smaller by the day... softdrinks have more ice than flavor itself... :D

I know the sodas they put a lot of water in the drink and it tastes nasty. It doesn't matter what they say because if you eat it in moderations then there's nothing wrong with eating McDonald's once a month or every two months.

There isn't much of anything that's healthy as far as fast food restaurants. I eat McDonald's about once a year and just the salads. The only fast food restaurant I really go to is Chipotle. They have lots of fresh healthy options. I get the veggie burrito (or bol) with rice, black beans, 2 salsas, lettuce, guacamole...no cheese or sour cream.

That's pretty cool but I have never heard of Chipotle. But it sounds delicious which we had one around here.

i usually order a cheeseburger too at McDonalds! it depends on the fast food what kind of food i will order. for McDo, its cheeseburger. at Jollibee, its mushroom cheeseburger. at Wendy's, it varies. all their burgers are delicious so whichever i order is fine. but i don't order chicken burger. but i seldom eat at fast food chains now. its kinda expensive if i go there every week or everyday. how can they say that food from fast food chains are good for us? i love the food there but i don't think its healthy for us. the food are high in calories and often, most of the ingredients are not fresh and are just stocks in the fridge. i think they are just messing with people's minds.

I know they are always doing this. But even though it's not healthy it's not doing to do us any really bad harm to our health if we only eat it once in a blue moon. I think they need to spend more time on their research because they sure sound more confused than we are.

I think you can choose healthy selections in fast food places. They have salads and fruits now. Greasy french fries and sandwiches that have been deep fried then smothered in mayo are not what I would consider healthy though! Yummy, but not healthy.
• United States
6 Apr 08
Yeah agreed. And the salads taste pretty good too. But the french fries and burgers are so tasty. It's like a sin to taste so good.

This is why I do not pay any attention whatsoever when they tell me that something is bad for me! I will make my own judgements and eat what I want when I want to!! You keep on with your macdonalds, there is nothing wrong with a treat, and when you have not been for a while, it is so good in there. We eat at macdonalds every few months or so, when we go it is a real treat and we really pig out. I usually see what the special is and if it looks nice I will have that, but I love the big mac that is my favourite.
• United States
4 Apr 08
Thanks and all the power to you Gemini. It's no problem to eat this food every few months or so as a treat. It's not like we are eating it for all three meals in a day or every single day. I don't think any food is unhealthy as long as we eat them in moderations.

every two weeks my friend Nelda and I go out to supper at Burgerkingand have hamburgers and french ries and love it so much as doing it that way is a treat and does not upset both of our diabetic regimes at all and we have a lot of fun eating and yakking too.
• United States
4 Apr 08
Well that's good for you. Going out and having a treat is not hurting anyone. It's fun to go out and eatt somewhere nice with nice food with a friend. Especially if the food is as yummy as McDonalds.

I work full time and I don't have time to cook as much as I will like (just on weekends) McDonald's is 3 blocks from my house. Since I know fast food is bad for you and I tend to get weigh fast I made some little changes to make McDonald's healthy. I buy their "grilled chicken sandwich lettuce wrap" that means that I don't get the buns. I never buy the meal so no soda or fries I drink water, I buy their chicken salad and I put no dressing and I get the yogurt parfait. The only time that I splurge my self id when I get chicken Mcnuggets. It works for me, when I was pregnant I was diagnose with diabetes and I had a 5 hour class on what I could eat or not and my dietitian said, that if I made these changes my sugar level will be ok. After eating this 2 hours later I use to check my sugar (with my little machine) it was always in the 90's.

That's pretty smart what you did. My mother actually loves the chicken Mcnuggets. That's practically the only thing she eats when I go to buy McDonald's for the family. I haven't seen her eating anything else from McDonald for a long time except the salad.

Yeah my family only does it for special occasions and if we have some money around. It's too expensive to be buying it every day or more than twice a week or something. We just buy it for special occasions.

I really don't like McDonalds, honestly neither does my kids. They just like the toys depending if it's something they like. I like Jack in the Box, there # 2 is to die for. We eat fast food every once in awhile. Honestly, I rather have burgers at home that my husband makes. At least if I'm hungry later, I can have another burger and not have to pay for it.
• United States
4 Apr 08
Yeah my family gets it every once in a while because for us it's like a luxury and we just get it when we want to celebrate something. Or sometimes we don't even get that at all we would get subways or order from some other local restaurant.

I usually only eat breakfast from McDonalds. If I eat fast food, I prefer Chik-Fil-A, or sometimes Burger King. I think the way they cook the foods, is not really good for us, but neither is a lot of food that we eat at home. Many people need to prepare food fast, which is frying foods, or eating TV dinners, or other microwave/quick prepare foods which are normally high in sodium, calories, fat, etc.
• United States
4 Apr 08
I've never eaten at Chik-Fil-A 'cause there's none around where I live. But I know what you mean. Fast food has a lot of fat but so does the soda that we drink every day and the junk food and stuff. But like someone else said here if we eat in moderations we will be okay.

some fast food places are trying to have a healthier menu. but at the end of the day a majority of it is bad for you lol. but im confused first they tell us that its bad for us next they tell you its good for you whats next a big mac is the cure to living a longer life rofl.
• United States
4 Apr 08
Yeah they try to change it but it's still the same. yeah okay if that was possible then I would eat a bic mac for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And then sneak in some milkshakes in there for snakc. LOL.

They always do that about everything. I noticed it a couple of years ago, when they were talking about eggs. They would say that it was bad for you then they would say 6 months later that "studies show that eggs are actually healthy for you." They have probably been doing this for a long time.

I haven't ever eaten at McDonald but I have ever eaten at KFC. Both of them are fast food. I have heard that fast food has a lot of fat content. If eat too much, it'll make people become obese and die early. So now, I don't eat it
• United States
4 Apr 08
They do have a lot of fat content. But you can treat yourself every once in a while. If you eat it every once in a while it won't hurt you. All you have to do is eat in moderations.

Some fast food is probably good for you, and some is probably bad. I figure as long as I'm not eating grease, and I excercise regularly, it doesn't matter whether eat fast food or salads. I don't eat at McDonald's too often, but that's only because I have other favorite fast food places. But I do love McDonald cheeseburgers.
• United States
4 Apr 08
Yeah so it doesn't matter if you don't eat it all the time, you exercise and eat in moderations. If you do that then there is no reason to worry that much about it.
