I found out today I need to loose 30 pounds! Now I want to do this kind of quickly.
I don't want to starve myself, but I don't want to take 6 months to loose it either.
Can anyone suggest what to do? I can't really exercise. I have a back problem, that makes it almost impossible for me to do exercise.
I know I need to cut calories, I have cut - bread, chips, cookies, cake, stuff like that. I snack on oranges, apples, bananas, strawberries and yogurt.
Thanks for any advice on this.

That would be nice, but I don't know about eating soup all week. I can't have my stove on too much now, we are getting at 80 and above in temps. lol
I will do the drinks and stuff though that helps.
Thanks

yeah with the soup you really don't need to make it that often it makes a ton and you can just put it in containers and throw it in the fridge. i didn't really like the soup that much the taste gets old fast. but if you just do the other stuff your weight should still drop pretty fast

When I did that diet I found myself actually starving...I was so hungry. It didn't seem to bother you? I didn't mind the taste of the soup...actually it was pretty good...but by the fourth day I wanted to throw up lol......I still need to lose thirty pounds...but I have had fibromyalgia for about 20 years and exercising is difficult....I wish I could find the perfect diet and the perfect exercise for me

I am on a 3 month 30 pound deal. 10 pounds a month. I drink alot of water. The sugar free on the go drink mixes are wonderful. I eat whole grains, lots of fruits and veggies and I walk my 10000 steps a day. I have a pedometer. I met my first goal my first month and I'm on my second month. I wish you all the best.

Realistically, 30 pounds will take you at least 15 weeks. You are off to a very good start- add leafy green veggies (skimp a ton on the dressing or lose it altogether- it packs on the fat and calories sooner than you can imagine!) Drink lots of water. Beans are good- garbanzo, black beans, navy, pinto, etc. Get yourself a variety of fruits and veggies so you don't get bored. BTW- you can eat all you want of the leafy greens. I don't know about how long it will take even doing this, though. But it is the healthiest way to do it, that is for sure.

Thank you I will do that too. I have red and white beans, but I love bread with that, so I have to stay away from them.
Greens and salads, I can eat without a problem. I would need some kind of dressing though, I'll check into diet dressings.
Thanks again

I used to use tons of ranch dressing- even the low fat stuff in that flavor packed it on. It was very hard to scale back...but I did it gradually (I was in no real hurry for the weight loss, though) and now I can eat very little on my salads.
I have no idea if this bread is low fat or anything, but it is healthy- http://www.foodforlife.com/ . You could check into that.

I know how you feel. Well I know you can't do any heavy exercise but can you get some walking in? That is always good - it doesn't have to be over hills or necessarily for a long period of time but as long as you do it regularly (a couple of times a day if you can manage it for 20mins each time) that will definitely help.
Obviously cutting out the carbs is good and eating a little bit less each meal is also good. If you get hungry inbetween meals then a bit of fruit (like an apple is good). Pineapple is good for the digestive system, so is papaya - if you can get either of these then they will help.
Can you drink detox tea - that is good as well. And obviously drinking a lot of water during the day adds to a good digestive system! Drink some water before (approx 15-30 mins) you have your meal. It will fool your body into thinking that you are already partially full..
Good luck, I know I need to lose a good 30lbs myself within the next 6 weeks - I'm not going to be able to do it but if I lose some of that then that will be good enough for me. Always lose the weight slowly and then it won't come back so quickly.

Unfortunately, these things do take time. I'm assuming you gained the weight over a gradual period, and that's how it's going to come off again. A healthy rate of weight loss is 2 lbs per week. The most FAT anyone can lose is 2 lbs in a week's time. Any more than that and you're losing water weight or lean muscle tissue. It may take as long as 6 months to lose it, if you do it properly. The problem people have with wanting it to come off faster is that they start taking shortcuts like drastically cutting back calories or doing other things to make it come off more quickly, but their bodies go into shock. If you lose too quickly your skin can't keep up, so you end up looking more flabby because your skin hasn't shrunk along with you. You also aren't teaching yourself those important skills to maintain the weight loss, and most people gain the weight back as soon as they stop dieting and resume eating the way they did before. That completely screws up your metabolism and leads to years of yo-yo dieting. People shouldn't diet, really. A diet is something you go on temporarily. You need to look at this as adopting a different lifestyle, and pick . It's okay to have a slice of bread now and then. Choose whole grains if you do. You want a cookie? Fine. But double the amount of exercise you do that day, or cut back at dinner. Life is about balance, and finding a way to moderate what you want so it fits into your life style. If you want one thing, sacrifice something else so you can have it. Overall you're making good choices. I think if you incorporate more green vegetables (broccoli, romaine, spinach, green beans, etc) into your diet (not corn or potatoes or rice) you'll find that you're not as hungry. These things have fiber, which fills you up, and are loaded with nutrients that your body really needs. Eat chicken, fish and turkey, as these meats are leaner and also fill you up. Eggs are good too. Limit your consumption of what is traditionally called junk food, and exercise and you're in business.

Hi mmiller,
Thank you. I am going for 1 - 2 pounds a week. I don't care how long it takes, I just want the weight gone. I use to be 120 pounds and within 5 years I put on 30 pounds and really didn't care that I was getting bigger. I was depressed actually and my friend got in a habit of buying FRENCH BREAD at the store and I love french bread, so guess what I was eating a lot of. lol I was living with her at the time (my family was too).....long story.
Anyway, I am tired of people I know looking at my stomach and looking at me like you pregnant? See my stomach isn't a fat persons stomach, I look pregnant and I am hating it, because I am not.
I love to eat veggies, I have a 3 teir shelf that has 2 shelves spilling out of canned veggies. I love frozen, but out freezer is not that big, so I have to pick and choose in that department. lol My favorite to eat when I don't know what I want is veg all. It has potatoes, carrots, peas and green beans I think corn, but not sure. I just had some last night.
I do eat chicken, I don't eat fish much (too expensive for 1 person) I buy lean ground meat and I eat eggs for breakfast on the weekends (hubby insists).
I am drinking life water from sobe, and sugar free lemonade and punches. If it has 5 calories or less I am good. I do cheat every now and then and have a glass of coke or just a few sips from hubby's glass, if I don't I will get the migraines back and I promised hubby I wouldn't do that.
I don't eat junk food much, I have litterally turned my eating around in 3 weeks. I started to do this before I found out I was overweight. lol
Thanks for the helpful tips I appreciate them very much.

I know the feeling I need to lose about 40 to 50 pounds the only thing I can think to do is to buy some alli and start a walking program when the weather stays at a good temp. Thats what Im going to try. Nothing else seems to be working for me. Let me know what you find out that works.

I don't advise any pills for loosing weight. You never know what they may do to you.
I am on a 1400 calorie diet with water or diet drink, not soft drink, the pouch drinks like Kool-Aid, but it is sugar free.
I am hoping this works this week.

Ok I can cut the sugar, can't do the water (can't drink too much) or the excercise. I have a back problem so walking is about all I can do and even that will be painful.
Thanks for the advice

Well as you probably know that is going to be a real pain trying to lose 30 pounds. I am lucky and really skinny but some of my family member were once about 30 to 40 pounds overweight. It took about 3 months to lose the weight on a strict diet which sounds like a lot but it is really benefitial. The weight watchers diet actually works according to my family members. Go sign up. It is fairly cheap right now. It will definitely help you because all the material is extremely simple and easy to follow.

Thank you I will do that. I wanted to do Jenny Craig, but they are so expensive over $100 on food for me for the week and I don't spend that on the family in a week. lol I can make $40 last for 2 weeks when I want to. lol
Thanks again

I was doing great drinking smoothies every morning before work and special K sometimes..doing the steamed veggies and raw but then i hurt my back again by picking up a grandbaby so lazy me here comes the weight lol.

My wife lost 90 lbs since last July.. She eats low fat low carb diet. She still has some more weight to lose. Losing the weight isnt the hard part, its keeping it off and not regaining it back..She is with a online-support group too..
Good Luck

The best advice I can give through experience to
help shed the fat quickly...I mean quick.
1- Colan Cleanse {at local health food store}
amazing simply factor many over look
2- Metal/toxin cleanse
amazing what your body can produce when cleaned out.
3- eat health 6 days a week on 7th day eat whatever...in moderation. MODERATION is the key :)
trick your body by doing so; so that you do not reach a
level where your body adjust to your metabolism and stops loosing weight or slowly bounces back and forth.
4- Take a safe supplement.
very safe, very works!:)
this will through your energy level into high
mode like you couldnt imainge and curb the
"breads" mode :)

Please bear in mind that the quicker you lose the weight, the quicker you will put it back on. I would suggest for you to do cardio for like 45 minutes 3 or 4 times daily. (Remember: the more you work out, the faster you'll lose weight). Eat small meals more often, like especially fruits, vegetables and protein (for instance, chicken or fish). You can also go to this website:
http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm
It will help you get an idea of how many calories you should consume daily and how many calories you can cut back on, if you want to lose weight.
Hope this helps!

I am learning that everybody is different when it comes to losing weight. what works for one person might not work for another person. the first thing to do is figure out your eating habits: where are you in the most trouble? is it bedtime snacks? grazing? too much sugar and carbs?
I am trying to lose weight so bad and it just isn't working. part of this is my own willpower issues and i swear my hubby is trying to keep me heavier, lol.
For me sadly the only answer is exercise. I am starting to do it 3-4 times a week for a half an hour. I am not seeing results either. I need to be a lot stricter with myself.
I've learned it's not how much you eat, but what you eat, so you are doing well by eating the fruits. You may be a sugar junkie like me. I read some great books from the library called potatoes not prozac and the good mood diet which i followed for 2 weeks and felt great doing...but of course then i slip into bad habits again! you might need to start substituiting the fruits with veggies.
whatever you end up doing - good luck with it!!

actually you can do a lot of things to take off unwanted pounds. all the comments are worth following. but you should be careful not to loose those pounds too quickly, you might end up looking at stretch marks. i have yet to be pregnant but my waist shows otherwise :D
