I ran over a bunny this morning

I was on my way to work and 2 bunnies raced across the street in front of my car. In a flash I had to make a decision to swerve, lay on the brakes or hit them. I took my foot off of the gas and missed the first one but I hit the second one.
I. Feel. So. Bad!!!!!
I feel horrible, I can only imagine what the 1st bunny was thinking when his buddy wasn't on the other side of the road with him. I havent hit too many animals, thank goodness. I just feel sad.. bad. Even though it couldnt exactly be avoided without me causing an accident.
Has this ever happened to you? Not just with a bunny, but with any animal? Did you feel bad?

That must have been so horrible, poor little bunnies, it is not your fault though you tried to stop. I do not drive and so I have never done anything like that and my hubby has not hit anything when I have been with him either so I have not had to go through that. I would feel bad about it for ages if I did something like that, I am a bit of a softie when it comes to animals.

I hit a bunny once when I was 16 or 17 driving with a friend...my friend and I cried...it was awful!! I hit someone's dog once, too...that was WAY worse. There really isn't much you can do when they run right out like that.
