WOW...this couple was married for 75 years and never left each others sides. They entered a nursing home recently and the husband died holding his wifes hand. She followed him a little later. This video is bit of a tear jerker...http://video.aol.com/video-detail/till-death-did-they-part/3692308880
Do you know a couple who has been married for even 60 years? I am pretty sure my maternal grandparents have been married for about 60 but I don't know exactly how long. You just don't see it often anymore what with divorces, getting married later, etc.

They sound like my neighbors. I think they were married for almost that long before they both went to a nursing home together. The wife was really sick, but the husband was older than her and I don't think he would have survived without her. I don't know what happened to them, except they were on the local news about a month after they moved out of my building. I know I'd like to go at the same time as my husband if I were married and attached to him, too.

I really think that this couple is so sweet and it is quite sad that they have passed away but then again, it is really a romantic kind of bittersweet fate for them. If I were to fall in love someday, I wouldn't wish something like that in the end, because I couldn't imagine losing my love one. I would just leave it to God to arrange the way I would die and I hope that it would be in a most peaceful and nice manner.
However, this couple that you described had passed away in the most calm and peaceful manner.

wow.. it is a wonderful love story...
i know sometmes, it is really hard seeing such a love story, and sometimes we think that it is not possible for two people to have loved and lived together that long...
i guess we just have to never stop hoping..

How sad, and at the same time, how beautiful.
I think it's wonderful that they had such a relationship. I can imagine it would have been very difficult for either of them to continue without the other at that stage of their lives.
It was all they knew how to be.

This is so sad but it is so cute too. This shows how much love they had each other and the lord will never put you through anything you can't handle.
I hope me and my hubby live a long and happy life like that.

My grandparents have been married for over 60 years. I am sure the same will happen to them too. I think they are both sticking around for each other. If one sadly passes away, I think the other one will go too. My grandparents have been happily married too and they raised 6 children and are still alive and kicking, running their own general store too with the help of my uncle.

I meet a lot of older couples in my business, and it is always a joy to come in contact with two people who have truly dedicated their lives to eachother. You can always tell how much they care for eachother by looking at how they smile at eachother. Me and my guy have been together for four years, we have 56 to go and I can't wait.
