The qualities of a good boss or superior are as follows (and these are only in my own humble opinion:
In order to be consider a good boss you must follow these guidelines :
1. Listen to your employees needs and complaints. Devise a system that will allow you to sift through each and give the needed attention. Talk to your employees one on one to find out what can be done to make the work place a better place.
2. If you have authority to change the dress code, allow more casual friday's or allow your employees to wear something that will make them stand out and feel individualized.
3. Do not give the appearance of a stuck up and highly stressed boss, even if you are one. Find ways to calm yourself and never take your anger out on an employee who does not deserve your lip.

I do suppose you have a point, however, even in a big corporation a boss can find an assistant that will listen for him or her and give feedback. Not so much as a middle man, per say, but someone to whom will listen and respond to their demands as set forth by guidelines that the boss has for the assistant.

Hello, goldwin! To be a good boss largely depends on his ability to mix with his co workers and understand their problems.similarly, the coworkers should understand the boss properly and they should work to his satisfaction.to be good or bad it depends on the dealings of both, the boss and the coworkers.no body is bad.so act according to the needs of the boss or face the worst.suppose you leave your present job and join another.there may also arise the same problem or some new problem.how can you manage there? How many jobs you will quit in the process?so better you adjust to circumstance and perform your duty honestly, you will see the boss will like you.thank you.

Hi bbsr13. I do agree with you that both parties must understand each other's need in order to have a positive and conducive working environment. So long as the boss has the right attitude and be willing to listen to his subordinate, the working environment will be positive and will bring benefit to the organization or company. Thanks for the sharing.

A good boss for me should be a good leader, a good motivator and should be able compassionate to his employees. Someone who can push you to do your best and at the end of the day make you feel good about yourself. He/She should be able to communicate effectively to his/her subordinates, he/she should be understanding yet firm in his/her decision-making, he/she should be able to manifest himself/herself as a friend and a superior. Most of all a boss should not abuse his/her authority in treating the employees, afterall they are the people behind the company that keeps the company functioning.
I believe a good boss is respected and idolized at the same time. My boss... hmmm... maybe he possess only less than half of what I mentioned, but I still like him anyway, afterall I am the only one in the company that seems to understand him/his personality.

I think a good boss shoul be someone who is sensitive to his subordinate, he should always be considerate to the feelings of his subordinate. A good boss should understand the feelings of his subordinates, i think a person could become a good boss if he has undergone even just once being a subordinate. In that way he could more understand the feelings of his subordinates.

Hi Jewilim. Yes, a good boss must be sensitive to the need of his or her subordinate and be apathy to their feeling. However not many bosses are like that. Thanks for the sharing.

I like my regional manager because he gives 110% and he has a can do attitude. He listens to what you have to say. He is aware of all aspects of my job because he used to do it. He knows how to talk to people and explain things without making you feel dumb or making you think he likes to be a know it all idiot. If you wanna be my boss you have to be good in your position because its not nice to know more about the job than your boss. You have to be loyal and able to talk honestly about business and be able to put me in my place if i am flawed in my thinking. My boss is a lazy bugger, he rings me for advise on how the job should be done and gets me to do his reports and anything else he can think of. He is also one of those that'll say a job cant be done instead of thinking how we could do it. I cant respect somebody like that. It makes me think i can do his job better and this is enough to make my blood boil because these guys get paid way better than their workers.

Hello Charmallan, lucky you to have a positive and the right attitude Regional Manager. That is the kind of superior that everybody wanted to have in their organization.
Well, the boss is always right, right? Yes, I see that your boss really act like BOSS. He really makes use of his manpower to handle everything and he enjoys giving instructions. That is a poor kind of boss I must say. You should ask your Regional Manager to brief your boss on how to be an effective boss. Anyway, thanks for sharing.
