Where does your console allegiance lie? Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, other?

I have had a relationship with Nintendo ever since I received my NES in 1984. I stick with Nintendo because of their great series titles. Most of my graphics intense gaming is done on my PC. I do like the innovative nature of the Wii interface with games. Over the years, I have owned an Atari 2600, NES, SuperNES, Sega Genesis, Nintendo64, Gamecube, Xbox, Xbox360, Wii. Do you have a loyalty to a particular console manufacturer? Why that company?

I was born and raised on Nintendo. I'll stick with them until they go out of business, which is a fat chance in my mind since the company's roots were planted in 1889. My first game was Legend of Zelda, which I played (more correctly mashed buttons) since before I could walk. Everyone in my family played the NES. I remember waking up late at night and watching my father play Tetris 2 (exploding bricks!) and he'd slip me some of whatever he was drinking. Whatever it was my mother would get mad at him. My mother also played the NES. She often played Zelda with me, and it seemed every month she would go to the local KB store and buy another game or two. As a result, I have many of the classics like Duck Hunt, Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Star Tropics 1 and 2, Kirby's Adventure, Blaster Master, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Super Mario Bros 3. My NES collection is larger than any of my other systems' collections even now. When I was three or four, we were going to take a train up to Oregon to see my grandparents. My mother and father bought us each a Gameboy and Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. I remember my father carving our names into the front sticker of the game cartridges. I still have the Gameboys, as well as the subsequent Gameboy Pocket, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, and Gameboy Advance SP, as well as all of their games, tucked away in my room. I remember getting my Nintendo 64 when I was eight. Our first games were Diddy Kong Racing and Duke Nukem 64. My mother wouldn't let us play Duke Nukem, but my father would if we got hom before my mother got off work. I also remember the night we got GoldenEye, my father was having trouble on Dam. It wasn't until we read the screens carefully that we understood what the problem was. If you just shot through each screen, you would be on Secret Agent I think, not the easier Agent difficulty. My father, brother, and I used to spend hours in multiplayer. A few months later, my parents asked me what game I would like them to buy and I said Super Mario 64, but my father accidentally bought Mario Kart 64. I don't think I would have ever played the series if it wasn't for that. I still remember the Super Smash Bros. commercial which made me want to buy the game. Great commercial. I have similar memories with the Gamecube and Wii. I received the Gamecube with Pikmin and Luigi's Mansion but my parents didn't know you needed a memory card so we had to go out and buy one, which we did along with Super Smash Bros. Melee in December 2001 I think. I remember seeing Wind Waker and not even hearing about its release. My mother still has a file from 2003 on the beginning island. I'll probably go back and play through the game with her over summer. I received the Wii as an early Christmas present this last year, with Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Resident Evil 4, and Wii Play. I went out and bought Rayman Raving Rabbits for my father and we still have fun with it. My parents like to bowl as their exercise, until Wii Fit comes out. In summary and conclusion, I prefer Nintendo because they've had major success in entertaining and being a part of my family. They produce systems and games everyone can enjoy and the atmosphere they create seems more welcoming than the one Sony creates. (I have no problem with Microsoft, as Microsoft and Nintendo could feasibly co-exist peacefully and cater to separate markets with minor overlap)

Well that is a very detailed explanation. Thanks for sharing Fudgers. Although Nintendo has been around for a very long time, you never can tell with business. Other companies with long standing community ties have bitten the bullet before. It was looking pretty hairy for Nintendo a generation of consoles or two back with new competitors entering the market and we did lose SEGA. I remember playing for hours the NES games you mentioned and I still have my cartridges too. I can still remember watching the original Legend of Zelda commercial on TV like it was yesterday. I think that I will try to find it on the internet somewhere...

Its Nintendo, as I've had all of their systems, even the current gen. Other systems like sega and sony, I've had those too, but not the current gen.

I have never owned any generation Sony system. My friends and family have, so that's where I have got my reps in. Not too many people I know own the PS3 though. Probably because of price shock. LOL
