is it ever acceptable under mylot rules to call a person a moron?

guess this is a rant but i merely made a response to a poster with a discussion about wanting us mylotters to convince him that various religous beliefs can be proved scientfically. His comment on my response was to critize my punctuation and my grammar and ended giggle moron. I am furious as I do not ever call people names in any of my postings even if I think they are being a jerk. I feel that this poster was way out of line.

I saw the discussion you're referring to and some of his other discussions and I think it's obvious he's just looking for a scrap with someone because he was pretty rude to quite a few others too. I see from one of your comments you've reported him for it already. That's the best thing to do. Just forget it because people like that aren't worth spending time thinking about.

Hatley, please don't let this person get to you. You are such a sweet lady. I have always been impressed with the graceful way you handle adversity on her. you are a sweetheart. This person is not worth the time it takes to give him a thought.

Thank you he just posted a very obscene retort to my response and I have again reported him to MyLot as he is actually making me feel ill. He is only twenty. I am eighty two and he has no respect at all for me. everyone is seeingwhat he said and that really hurts.

You are certainly not a moron Hatley. I've read a few of your responses and if you're a moron i guess i'm one too, and i'm no moron. I think that there should be a rule against this sort of behavior. People should understand that if you post something then your're going to get feed back, and it may not be in your favor. Don't let that get you mad after all that's his opinion and he's entitled, but that shows us the kind of person he is...Not to big in my book.

hi hatley. i am a filipino and there is a discussion here once that was reffering to filipinos as stupid. the discussion was not deleted. it was really very offending and i am sure a lot of filipinos got offended. i think it is not against any guidelines of mylot but your ratings can go down (not affecting the earnings) if somebody gets offended on what you say. on what happened to you, there are a lot of mean myloters too, they laugh at even the simpliest mistake. but dont worry i know there are a lot of myloters you loves you. smile and have a blessed day

thats more like it hatley... smile. you know that you are not a moron. you know who is the moron? it is the one who says you are moron for he knows and identify someone who is like him lol. i also agree with LoudandProud just ignore. some people are too much for the earnings that they will start a fued for you to comment back. and some are after for the attention. i am happy now that you are feeling okay.

No, Hatley, I don't think it is ever acceptable anywhere to call another person names like that. I saw that discussion and the comment as well. He called a few people a moron as he went along. It said very much about the type of person he was. I began reading through his discussion as I at first thought it was quite interesting. I was initially impressed with his intelligence. After reading the word "moron" a couple of times and some other rude responses, I began regretting even responding to his discussion myself and I certainly was not going to give it any more of my time. There is a vast difference between being well read and actually being smart. Here you had a perfect example.

that was my first thought in reading all he had writteden that he was really well educated then when I saw all the slams he put out I thought he might be educated but he isn't very smart after all.

Won't be the first time. And some others will not call you this directly, but it'll be between the lines. Unfortunately for that case nothing can be reported. For your case though you have the evidence. I'd report the post for being inappropriate.

Hello Hatley, The best thing is just to ignore a persone like that. I bet they would like nothing better than you starting a war with them. I don't think name calling is a nice thing to do. I don't see the point of it. It does not make an argument more or less valid. I have been told on Mylot "just to shut up" and a name such as ar**h**. I never reacted and the person was really frustrated. I know this from one of their discussions the next day. Cheer up and enjoy all the posts from the nice people on Mylot.

People should not call people names at all..If they don't like the response they should accept it as it is since that is what that person thinks. Some people just can't stop to be so rude. Don't mind them much Hatley..Next time report them.

honestly sometimes you just have to let it slide...Seriously, there is no point in getting upset over it...sometimes online its hard to tell if a person is having a bad day for example and seem to be mean, when really they are just cranky (I'm terrible for that actually)...not that I'm saying this was the case in this situation but the point is dont let it get to you...As for it being against the rules, well yes it is BUT its not always applied if that makes sense..

No it is not acceptable and it is against the rules. You should report the post (!) If everyone who reads it reports it he will not be at myLot much longer. Even mild name calling in a response deserves a negative rating (-). I gave my first negative rating to a comment yesterday because I thought it was rude and unkind to the person who had been good enough to try and respond to the discussion.

Two morons were standing on a street corner at night, one had a flashlight with him. He turned it on and pointed it up towards the sky. He said to the other moron, "go ahead and climb up the beam." The other moron responded, "what do you think I am, a Moron? I'll get to the top and you'll shut it off." Why didn't the moron get on the bus? The driver said, "no more on." Just about everyone that has responded has said the same thing, basically, let it slide off you and don't lower yourself to their same level. There is some truth in that. Sometimes, when we allow ourselves to get caught up in those kind of verbal battles, we do only lower ourselves to the level of the party that sought to demean us. Was this person being a "moron"? Possibly so, a jerk at least. I'd say pick your battles, sometimes it's just not worth the effort to stoop to their level. Makes it hard to stand up straight again. LOL. You know that they were being a moron, and now the whole community does too. Let that be enough to let you have some satisifaction.
