I always thought it depends on what you believe. If you believe in the Eden story, then the Chicken came first. It was created by G-d and He told it to be fruitful and multiply. But if you believe in evolution, then the egg came first and it evolved into a chicken.

I usually mix the Eden story with evolution so my answer is the egg . it then grew to be a chicken.

oh sounds kind of reasonable.while i think egg can be regarded as a life-form which may also be creatived by god.

The egg came before the chicken.

Things were laying eggs long before there were chickens. There were dinosaurs laying eggs before there were chickens, and before there were dinosaurs, there were egg laying fish.

Nontheless, you asked what came first, the egg or the chicken. Not the chicken egg or the chicken! An egg is an egg, no matter what it came out of or what may be in it! That leaves room for creative scrambling (pun intended) of answers...

birds are decended from dinosaurs, sure, our reptiles are also of that linage, but there is fossil evidence that the smaller dinos were getting feathers, there's some proofs that dinos weren't as cold blooded as previously thought
so, the dinosaurs were there, they laid eggs, cared for their young, so, yes

I think the best answer is god made two kinds of chicken, hen and roost, and let them lay some eggs and then hatched the eggs to form chickens, on and on. I think god made everything. Thank God!

it would depend on your perspective dear. which one that you would consider being the first time happened then it would be the first. this matter could not explain further to get the right answer but from your question, i bravely say egg will come firstly than chicken

I would have to say the chicken. The chicken is the one who lays the egg so of course it would have to be the chicken. The egg had to get here somehow and the chicken is the somehow.
