The mind is willing but the body---Ouch!

Yesterday I went up to the twin cities and helped my sister paint and clean a rental unit that was destroyed by her former tenants. I had planned on doing a bunch of spring cleaning here and I want to start painting two of my rooms. But this morning I am stiff....and sore! I think I used muscles that I haven't used in a long time and I'll probably just do some smaller things today instead of trying to wash walls or remove border. Have you done anything lately that left your mind willing but your body very aware that you used muscles that have not been used in a long time?

One day I was channel surfing and with satellite there were so many channels to surf. I come across FitTv and started doing ( or trying to do) yoga and then some different exercises after that show. Talk about sore and not being able to do much the next day or two. hahaha

hi jill! i hope you've already finished painting two of your rooms.
i experience similar things like that. i would want to do something and in my mind i really wanna do it, but my body wouldn't let me. when i came home from our beach outing last weekend, i wanted to wash some of my clothes and take a bath. but i was too tired from swimming and lack of sleep so i couldn't do anything but face the computer and type idly there. i really wanted to do those two things but my tired body just wouldn't let me. they say its mind over matter but at times, its really impossible to do that.

Know what you mean, went Tuesday to help a friend move, it was an upstairs apartment and I am telling you my legs hurt me so bad I could hardly get up the next morning. Being disabled you don't get a lot of workout and when you do have to use those muscles they hurt. The next day my mind even said No NO No

Well I know exactly what you are talking about. This happens to me all the time. My mind is always willing but my body usually is not. I have been disabled for over 22 years because of my back, have alot of nerve damage in both legs too. So there are so many things that I used to could do, and I just can not do any more.

I know how those muscles aren't used quite as much in the winter months. Some spring cleaning will keep them aching for awhile. Bet you're glad yesterday is over. What a nice gesture.
Funny you mention this as I have been climbing on a step-stool the last couple of hours removing very old clothing and books to give away. Up and down until my back begin to bother me. I have arthritis of the spine and it doesn't take much to irritate the spine. Then I sit for awhile and can go back to it either later tonight or in the morning.

Not for some time but the weather is getting very nice and I do need to do some serious house cleaning. I also work outside some. I like the fresh air and it doesn't bother me to cut the grass. I like the smell of freshly mowed grass. Anyway the first start of cleaning I do get sore and have to push myself the next day or two. But then after that I will be fine.

MOTION...it is the most important thing. Not to be able to move is distressing. When you are sick or you get old with the advancement of age, you feel it difficult to engage in all the physical activities that you were once vibrantly engaged in.Good luck.

Dear friend,
I might be combination of will power and healthy body. If both are there those would be done. Still Once has to have that power to implement that mental strength to withstand the comfort zone. This comfort zone always tend us to be more in those side where our mind and body may not be in good health. But if we are able to withstand that comfort zone the mind and body is controlled by ourself.

Now adays I have also started feeling like this.I am always told that I do not look my age. But everyone who sees me expect me to be able to work like a younger one because Ilook like one. But I am also getting old and stiffer. My body is telling me that you cannot strain yourself like before. But no one believes me when I tell them this. They just laugh at me and move off thinking that I am just showing off. By the evening my limbs are aching as if asking me to take some rest. My mind is willing to do everything because it is young but then my body refuses. What to do?

Yep I do understand, I do it every other week. I work
2 double shifts in a row back to back. After those 2 days I can hardly move. I get so stiff, for me though I think it has more to do with age. I just do not have the endurance I once had when I was young. Hope you feel up to all those tasks soon.

Not really.I didn't do anything that need too much physical strength.I am kind of a indoor girl, don't do much excise.I am very aware that it's not good for my health.I am thinking of having a change.I want to do more exercise so that I won't undergo what you have undergone, you mind is willing, but your body-ouch!
May we do more exercise

I play soccer with friends twice a week, and the next day it is sooo hard to get up and walk around. Trouble is if I miss a week it is worse... so I feel like I need to keep doing it as long as I possibly can. I love playing soccer and I hope it does me a power of good, but the older I get, the more painful it is...

I would just have a nice relaxing day, it is Sunday after all and get stuck in another day. I had a day last week where I really couldn't be bothered to do too much so I just pottered and flitted backwards and forwards on here. Ellie :D
