Planting flowers..

I hate this time of year because the weather is nice yet not nice enough to start planting my flowers. It makes me antsy. I cannot wait for that last frost of the winter. This year I plan on doing a hand made flower box on my deck with a trellis. I am going to plant some really different flowers in it- http://michiganbulb.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_70158_A_Climbing+Shell+Plant_E_ is the one I have been looking at.
I also have a flower bed that I put in last summer. It is a lily bed and will have all sorts of lillies planted in it. Hopefully in a couple years it will be well grown. I cant wait.
Do you have any flower bed projects coming up for this spring or summer? What are your favorite flowers to plant?

Wow, that is the most interesting plant! I would like to have flowers around the house, but it will have to wait- with being a new construction, our yard is nothing but a pile of dirt right now. I am hoping to have a vegetable garden as well, and that will have priority over pretty landscaping. Lilies are one of my favorites- we had day lillies at one house I lived in they were so pretty.

Last fall I ordered a unique lily called a Traffic Torch Lily- red-yellow-then green on the bottom. I cant wait till that one blooms this summer. I hope it actually blooms.

I would love to have some of your lillies!! That is my favorite flower and I am planting them all from bulbs, so they'll take so long to grow in nicely but I know it will all be worth it in the end. I just need to have more patience!!

My husband just turned the soil over for me and yesterday I planted some petunias. They are very hardly little flowers. I got purple and yellow. Then when it gets alittle warmer I will plant geraniums and some other little flowers. Enjoy your planting.LOL

I am lucky in that I live in a place where it is beginning to warm up so I will be able to plant some flowers soon, like this week. I have started some inside just cause it is cheaper to do it that way. I love geraniums, and am trying some black eyed susan vines this year. Can't wait to see how they are going to turn out. I like the impatients too for in the shady part of the yard. I have to put just about everything in pots cause it is so hard here to dig because we have red clay. But I love the spring time when everything is blooming etc. My blueberry bushes are beginning to bloom too, so lots of blueberries this summer.

Oh wow, that's an interesting plant. I've never seen anything like that. Good luck with it!
I'm renting here so can't do a lot, but I've got some things coming up that I'm moving around.
I don't know what was in the front, maybe annuals, but I've moved some daffodils, daylilies and grape hyacinth to that area, and have started some seeds indoors to fill in when those flowers are done blooming.
I need to get some edging for that spot too as the landscaping timbers have rotted away (termites?). I did find some rocks to put in there too, so I think it's shaping up pretty good.
So far it hasn't cost me a dime - wait, the one pack of flower seeds was just that - .10 !!!

I love plants and right now have many blooming. This is one big plus to living in Southern California where we don't have seasons. I'll admit some plants don't like my climate, but sure do enjoy the ones that grow well here.

That shell plant is divine! I've never seen one before, but you're trellis will look fabulous.
Best of luck with your flower planting. Apart form some calla lillies which I've planted in big pots outside the house, if I can't wat it then I don't bother planting it myself.
Instead of a flower garden near the house I am trying to put together a herb garden. It'll be lovely when it's done but it's taking allot of work to build all the beds and there's so many more important jobs to do that I wonder if it will ever be complete.

I agree with not liking this time of year. I'm in Michigan and winter doesn't want to let go. The snow just melted and I found a layer of leaves that I didn't get to last fall. I used the leaf blower some yesterday but the wind was fighting me. I can't even think of a flower project until I can find the grass. Favorite flower: impatiens, probably not spelled right.
