Too old for facebook.com?

I recently opened up a facebook.com account and I am having a fun time with it. I have asked a few other folks if they have an account and their response would be "I am too old for facebook." I thought that was kind of a ridiculous thing to say. Maybe the majority of facebook and myspace members are younger than me (36), but aren't these sights for folks who have friends that want to share things amongst each other?

There is a huge variety of people using Facebook and I have friends aged in their 20's to their 50's on there. I think some people assume that social networking sites are for young people but I don't think Facebook is like that. It is what you make of it! I have some friends who are not very computer savvy and haven't joined- perhaps that is what is going on with your friends?

How can you be too old for facebook?? my mum and dad have got an account with facebook and there in their 50's! Though this is more to keeping in touch with the family as we are scattered all over the place! Im glad you are having fun with facebook. Its amazing how many people I have been contacted by from when I was younger and Im 26. It is about sharing things with your friends, most of my friends live nearby but not in the same town and its nice as you can send them all a message and they can all join in rather than sending them a message each!

I've heard that about myspace too. I ignore it. I like both sites and if I have friends in both I'll stay with them.

I don't think you can be too old for Facebook. I joined a while ago and found a load of my friends there, including several people I had lost touch with. I have also found a few new friends too, mainly down to Facebook. I will be 57 this year, and love Facebook

Too old? You must be joking...hahah. You know how I got on Facebook? One fine day when I was still fiddling around with Friendster, my uncle who's in his 40s sent my wife a facebook invite. Though I've received many facebook invites before from other friends my I was in fact too lazy to open another similiar type of a/c. But when I saw that invite my uncle sent I said that's it. Haha. My uncle has even gotten my another uncle who's 50+ & my aunt who's 60 this year to join. If I don't join I'd become a dinosaur already...hahahahahha.

Hahaha, I was great friends with a man that was like 60 years old on FB!! He was like a best friend to me. You are never too old for online community forums. Personally, I wondered why such an old man was so addicted to the app we met on, but I blew it off! There are certainly no age requirements.. Enjoy it and have fun is what i say!!

I've seen people in their 60's join facebook. I don't think there is an age limit, if it appeals to you why not join it?

If you are having fun with it then you are not too old for it. I'm sure there will be a few older members who enjoy it too. I think your friends reaction is because of what they have heard and read about the site. It is very popular with younger people but if you have no problem with that, you have as much right to enjoy using the site as anyone.

hello!! to make friends age shouldn't matter, so don't pay attention to what they say, what really matter is that you are enjoying that moment, and by the way you are not old ;) so honestly you shouldn't stop doing something that you like just because other people think they are to old lol.. P.S if you have myspace add me myspace.com/princess3706 you get to meet different people from different backgrounds is reaaly fun
