BQ's are called braai's in South Africa. I had a friend from the UK here, and she had never tasted a piece of beef or pork done on braai. Families here braai almost on a weekly basis, especially over a weekend and always when there is rugby on! Although I dont eat meat myself, just out of interest, as to other people around the world, what and how frequently do you braai/BQ?

In the summertime I bbq several times a week. We do everything from chicken to fish to bison. Bison meat is our replacement for beef, one of the doctors I work with raises buffalo for slaughter so we get a good price on it. It tastes much better than beef and is much better for you.
We also make up ribs from time to time, and grilled asparagus.
Easiest recipe for asparagus is to wrap it in tin foil, add some balsamic vinagrette, dice up a garlic clove or two and throw that in..heat it up on the grill for several good minutes and then top it with some grated parmesean cheese before serving. Very healthy, very good and makes an excellent side to any meat you might grill up.
