Losing things.. and my mind.

Have you ever come across a situation where you need something. You know you put it "there" and saw it a few months ago.. and now its not there. You need it, and don't know where the heck it went. I needed some software and papers for my old computer today. I saw the folder a couple months ago, because I cleaned out the closet. I looked everywhere and I cannot find it now. I am so frustrated because I knew right where it was.. and now I don't know what happened to it. Its making me crazy! Have you done this before? Do you want to share your story with me?

I do it every time I work on a project. I set a tool down for a few minutes then it's gone... I lose more time trying to locate something that I just bloody had than anything else. I must be hiding them from myself or something.

I do it all the time I can see something just days before and it not be there when I need it! I often though am the one to blame as I tidy things away automatically without thinking and forget ive even done it! Other times its my children they move things and then obviously dont remember, it all normally turns up in the end though.

i've been in your shoes before and i know how frustrating it is to lose something in general whether it may be an object or a person. losing a property of mine is just one of my pet peeves in live. i think that the reason why i get so upset when i can't find find something is that like you, i also think that i know where i put something in the right place and when i go look for that something, i can't find it. when this thing happens to me, i don't want anyone disturbing me. if someone was to ask me a question when i'm in the process of searching for something, you better pack your bags and run because i can assure you that i am going to make jump like are squirrle. i don't mean to sound offensive but like i said, it's one of my pet peeves. i can't help it when i get so furious about something that i can't find.

I have experienced these things before and even now. I don't know why but there are just times that I'm out of my mind. When such thing happens, I really pause for a while and think of the situation. Through this way, I tend to concentrate more; thus, remembering where the things are located.

It happens to me and makes me crazy too. Often my hubby will step in to look for it for me and find it RIGHT THERE! How is that possible??? I just looked there. You title makes me think of my mom. She has this saying, "Of all the things I've lost in life, I miss my mind the most."

Yes, most of the times, it happens. I really thought I am losing my mind or something because I am being forgetful. Sometimes even if I am sure that I left or put it there but when I look the place, it's gone! And it really frustrates me then after thinking really hard, I would suddenly remember that I didn't put it there! Or my mom would tell me that I didn't put it there but I swear I did! Haha. Guess I really get forgetful at times.

Oh yes that happens to me all the time. In fact if I put something in one place a few hours before I need it, I look for that something in that particular place and its not there.. so don't feel bad. Happens to all of us!

Oh yeah I've had that happen all too often. Actually recently had it happen with a bottle of medication. It's one for our migraines so not used everyday. My sister and I both know it was in the one cabinet but when we went to get it we couldn't find it. We searched the cabinet and the rest of the house. It was nowhere to be found. We know where it was but it wasn't there now. It was very frustrating especially since my sister had a migraine. Three days later we find it, in the cabinet. I don't know where it was for those days or how it suddenly reappeared but there it was. I think the borrowers took it for some reason.

We did it not so long ago, something went wrong with the internet and we thought we needed a disc to reboot it, we went to where it was supposed to be and lo and behold, it was not there. We hunted high and low for that disc and it was nowhere to be found, I thought that my daughter (who is 2) might have had her grubby little mitts on it as she is a devil for going in cupboards! Anyway to cut a long could be boring story, short we ended up not needing the disc as it was a fault with the supplier so the internet was back on, and we forgot all about the disc. So a few weeks later my hubby decided to sell a mobile phone and he got the box for it out of the cupboard, and what was in it?? Yes the disc, "Oh yes" he says " I remember now, I put it in here so I would know where it was" Oh boy.

Have you noticed that there is also a correlation between the time taken to find something and it's importance? So if you lose your pen for instance, it's irritating but not too important and you tend to find it fairly fast, If however you have lost your vehicle registration papers, the deeds to your house or your passport, it can take you weeks of searching before you come up with them. You can ransack your house, throw everything into the garden and search it inch by inch, but nine times out of ten it'll be in one of the first places that you looked.

I hate this! I've had this problem many times. I'll put down something, like the mail that came in today, and then when I go back to get it, it's not there. It probably was moved by someone in the house, since there are 6 other people in this house other than myself. Everyone always tends to move everyone elses things, usually because they are in the way or something. I do hate it though. I don't have this problem nearly as much as my boyfriend. He tends to lose his keys and wallet in the house, a lot, and I'm always the one that ends up finding the stuff. He gets very frusterated, and has told me he feels like he's helpless, I just shake my head and tell him he's just a little forgetful. I think he would be lost without me, because who would be there to find him? lol.
