Its seem the trend here in mylot. If you start a big and serious response, nobody is going to answer it. even if its such that it will make you feel good, then also nobody will read it. why they should? they are here to make quick money...
why to waste time after your discussion?
Its what again proved today. I started a discussion in Life interest and the response is zero as its a bit long.
I was to vent here....
I think now i should only start one liners and very simple discussions, to appear everywhere... in today's Top, Hot topics , Mylot digest and all.

Welcome to my world Sub. Took 4 months for someone to respond to the Brain/Mind/Spirit/Self discussion....
But who knows, maybe you'll be more fortunate. Its just bad that even the best can't keep track of every discussion. It may just be bad timing (like my other zero response discussions).
Also remember Sub, you tried this discussion and you have a 10 star.
I try these discussions AND responses and had a 6 star (only a 7 by a margin now... and VERY slow progress). I know you feel bad, but its only part of what I've been dealing with on lot.
One liners? Not a bad idea. Even fun (but long) discussions don't cut it...
Sigh... -_-

Its not about how long a discussion is, but how you format it that gets it read. I haven't seen this discussion you are talking about yet, but if you have posted a long block of text, chances are no one will read it. The best way to do a long discussion is to post it with spaces in between the paragraphs, that way its not as hard on the readers eyes when they read it. All that text smashed together makes things hard to read.
I have done both versions of discussions in this forum, and I know for a fact that the spaces work best. I had what I thought was a very good discussion although it was long. I did put the breaks in, but I added a picture after, and didn't know it would get smashed back together until after I had posted it. Despite the good content, I only got one response.

Your assessment is more or less correct. I have also noticed this trend. Serious discussion normally do not fetch much responses. Members like light and non-serious discussions.
Please send me the link of your discussion, which had zero response, I would like to see....whether I can contribute something on that discussion.

yeah i can relate with you subha12..i feel that way too when i made a good and long discussion and yet received no response... but when i tried posting a discussion that is not really too serious but just knowing how they like mylot, i got 76 responses...imagine that!!
then i realized maybe i just have to create discussions that are not too serious so they could easily get the point and answer immediately without stressing their mind about it...
well, maybe we also need to look for those discussions with 0 responses and try reacting on them so at least they won't feel bad or left out just like what i am doing to other postings(not just browse on top or hottest discussions o fthe day)
because i too had experienced it already so i know how it feels..

I am totally agree with you Subha. People only want to read spicy and funny discussions. Noboday wanna discuss on any serious issue. If you will start a discussion on a serious topic then response will be 0. I don't know what is problem.

my dear friend,
i just look up your profile and i see most of time you have good responses in your discussion which mean that you are well known enough in mylot so i getting curious which discussion of yours which still have zero responses?
about your opinion that nice discussion normally only have zero response, i think i have another point of view. it could be (although not always) the discussion take long sentences in detailed without giving good paragraph line. it would make the reader feel bore to read whole of the detailed information. thats would bring the discussion with zero response or only less response.
perhaps the topic discussion not too interested to response although if we read carefully in the detailed, we can see that the discussion is really interested to response. not all of people are dilligent to choose good tittle for their discussion.
well, after all thats only my opinion based on my experience too

dear,
please don't get me wrong, in my opinion the discussion with no response in 2 hours still a "fresh" discussion and still available enough to get response soon as possible. i thought you have the discussion more than one day and none of us in here put response in there
i have read your discussion which you mentioned in here, honestly in my self, i confuse how to write response in there since amazed in life about something is quite difficult to express and written in here. well, perhaps another have another reason why they don't response in your discussion. ll of this thing is my subjective viewing without any purpose to offense you

Yes, subha12, I agree. My serious discussions didn't get very many replies. I made one about KKK and it got around 10 responses. I made one about Lucky Dube dying and it got 0 response. I made one about lots of phone calls and it only got 3 responses. It is very annoying to see that my discussions only get a few responses. I know I'm not as active as I could be, but it does make me upset.
I agree, subha12, I think people like non-serious discussions and want to answer more general questions like "What do you do when...", etc. It's annoying, but I understand because there are so many discussions listed on here, right?

i have a 'phobia' here in myLot...
i fear to post/start a new discussion....
i fear that people may not interested in what i write and may not respond at all... it is not that i care about how much money i make with the discussion plus the responses... but, i really hate the thought of being 'ignored'...
i can understand you put such effort in starting a good discussion - and it is upsetting when it goes 'unnoticed'...
or probably.. we are just to 'tired' to think of a good response... not the good one to earn the money.. but, a good response that the writer is expecting to read... fearing that our response may not may not be of the 'same level' of thoughts... of the writer's... i do feel that some times... that some of the discussions - are just too 'smart' for me...
but do keep posting... i'll try to give good responses to the best that i can...

yes this is very true. I also had the same problem both on some discussions I had started, and my friends' discussions with no responses although their quality was good.
In fact that trend is caught because of the money worries of course. As you have just said. but personally, I do send some simple responses at nights because I feel too tired for serious ones, but if I am in the mood, then the things change of course and sometimes I read long and detailed discussions but if I have nothing to say, I just can't response after reading it.
But everyone knows mylot pays for better work and better responses. so don't worry. The newcomers who only worry about the money will always attack to that kind of discussions but once they learn the things are not working best with that strategy, they will be making more quality participations.

I kind of disagree with what you said.Yes,if you start a big and serious discussion, the responses are fewer than those easy and short discussions. But it doesn't mean all members here are just for money, they also want to have fun and learn more. For me,I can improve my English ,have fun,and make some money. If people here are just for money,I don't think it's the best way to make money. They also think myLot is fun and worth the time.Serious and discussions are not easy to answer, some people are here for fun,so may just skip them.

Yeah, I think my next topic for discussion is going to be: Do you like Chocolate, Strawberry or Regular White Milk?
My last 3 discussions look like this response wise; 3, 2 and 0. They are not very long, maybe they just don't appeal to the masses I don't know.
I have only had one discussion that got quite a few responses. This is a part of the reason I usually just respond to other people's discussions.
I am not going to waste my time posting discussions nobody will ever see.

dear subha12 i don't completely agree with you!well partially i do!it happens i guess with most of us.the topics i have started which i think are worth discussing on a social forum like this have been commented on though not as much as i would like to.these include legal matters too and issues of social importance and what pains me most is that some people who are in my friend list also do not care to reply.though most of them do and i'm happy that they are in friends list.so give it some time and i'm sure it will be commented on though it takes time.i would do so right away!
