My brother,a son of my aunt, bought a luxurous cell phone at a pretty high price. The cell phone ,as it is said,is a functional device. You can listen music, take photos, writing e-mail,as well as play games.Yes,it is a trend that cell phone no longer just for calls.
Let's get back to the original purpose of using cell phone.Certainly,we use cell phone for contact or being contacted by our friends. The purpose is simple,we need cell phone because we have calls some time.
Now,it goes out of track,we buy a cell phone mostly because it has a lot of extra functions. But is it necesary for us to pay more on a cell phone just for something with no help or relations to its original function?
What do you think of it?

I forget another function of cell phone is text messages.
Yes,the kinds of cellphone are changing quite rapidly. If you want to keep pace with the change of cellphone, you definitely need a lot of money first. Most of us use cellphone for calls only.People who really need a phone, has a ultimate purpose for calls. But some like phones with more functions may not really need phone, they do think that is fashion.

Personally I only use a cell phone for making calls, I don't really use any of the other features except storing numbers and maybe the calculator if I need it. I don't even use the camera built into my phone and thats why I took that phone lol never again, I'll use them just for making a call. I certainly do not wanna pay more than what I need to for service.

The same to you! It is unreasonable to pay for those services you do not really need.Even the calculator seems useless to me since I don't get used to do calculations in phone,it is rather inconvenient.
To possess a multi-functional cell phone has become a trend nowadays.I am afraid we are backward if we don't have one.

Well i really like those mulit-functional phones. I always away from a computer doing the day and I can use my phone to take notes and read/write emails. I don't like caring my camera around because I'm afraid I will misplace it. So have a camera built in my phone works for me.

No, it's absolutely not necessary. I agree with you completely. I do like having text and picture messaging on my cell phone for long-distance friends and family of mine, but I don't get on the Internet or listen to music on my cell phone even though it's perfectly capable of doing so. The thing that really frustrates me is when people have these high tech phones with them wherever they go, and then they completely ignore the people they're with! It's downright rude to do that. Yes, I'm guilty of texting and picture messaging people sometimes, but I'm not rude about it. It's my way of keeping in contact with people that aren't with me at that moment. I also text message and call my fiance quite often, naturally. I don't understand paying $500 for a really nice phone with all this stuff on it and then paying another $75 or more per month just to maintain all the services on the dumb phone. My phone cost me about $20 because it was a promotion the cell company was doing. I think my phone cost about $300 at full price, but I always buy them when they're on sale or have specials. I'm not wasting my money on something unless I know it's going to work well for my needs. I don't think you need all the fancy stuff like a computer in your cell phone because what happens when you lose it? If it's stolen, now another person has all your information! That would be awful. I'm sticking to my simple cell phone. Good discussion.

my wants to have a luxurious cellphones is gone when i lost my expensive cellphone i really felt bad when i lost it in a travel. we all know that cellphone is very common even those family that can't afford to buy foods for their meals intend to buy cellphones. sometimes they sacrifice some of their foods to buy loads. lately my perception for cellphone is quite different as long as i can call and text no matter the price. the most important you can pay the bills if are plan holders or can buy loads if you are prepaid.

I'm with you on this one. I only use a cellphone for calling, texting, calculator, and alarm clock. Any other "extra" function only serves to make it more expensive and complicated. Life is complicated enough. I want a simple cellphone.

I am away from the house a lot. I love the fact that my cell phone can do more than just take calls.
It has a full keyboard, Windows applications, camera, touch screen and 3 different instant messenging services just to name a few functions.
I also have 4 of my email addresses going to it.
I will probably never buy another regular phone again.
I love my cell phone.

I personally have a cellphone that can take pictures, videos, play games, go on the internet and what not. I don't really use my cellphone for talking on it though, because I text message everyone that I want to contact. I only call a few people with my phone. It was bought mainly so that I could get ahold of my boyfriend and family members when needed.

I am sharing the same opinion with you.
To tell the truth, I am angrying with my younger brother who brought a handset with very costly price.
He was assured and bold with justice when I blamed him.
I am erraticed that without listening in and out phones, what else we should have!

Absolutely not. Call me a Luddite but I am from the Dark Ages before mobile phones were thought of.
I reluctantly carry one because it is supplied by my boss but I wouldn't even do that if I didn't have to.
I prefer a phone that makes calls (maybe texts, begrudgingly!)and a camera that takes photos and a stereo that plays music and a pc that surfs the web.
Oh, and a kettle to make a cup of tea. Can you get that feature in a phone yet? Suppose it's only a matter of time....

The most important function of the cell phone is for calls.
But for me , I want it has extra function of taking photos.
Coz taking a camare along with me is not convenient . As for other extra functions , I think it`s not necessary !

Hi crystalxdr, I would go to all in one phone because this one suites my life style. Now if I'm the type of person that don't use such extra features then why would I pay for it, i wouldn't want to be called a technojunkie.
