Do you use Sat Navigation when driving to somewhere new?

Do you use a sat nav to help you get from A to B when driving? Do you find it helpful on your journey? Does it save time in your opinion? Which type of sat nav do you use? If you don't have one, why not? Would you like one? ------------ I have a sat nav, a TomTom which I got for my birthday last year. I haven't used it that often to be honest, but it's very clear when I do use it, as long as I have the right postcode (have been given a postcode and it's taken my somewhere else, so ideally need the house number as well). I think it saves me time, because if I'm driving alone I'd had to try and memorise the journey, or keep checking a piece of paper.

I have a Garmin. I haven't used it recently but that is only because I have really gone anywhere new over the winter. But now that Spring is upon us I'm sure my family and I will be venturing out to new places and using the Garmin to help us get there. It has never steered me wrong and I trust it completely. It is much safer than reading directions on a piece or paper or following a map. I like that it talks to you so you don't really have to take your eyes off the road. I think they are definitely worth the money.

Yes! I think that there is an art to using them really. There have been stories of people driving into rivers because their Sat Nav told them "turn left". I don't think you can fully rely on them, but you need to use common sense too. I use mine for most journeys really. Especially travelling home from Uni, although I know the route well, I love knowing how much longer the journey will take.
