Is the American Idol "Fixed"?

After booting Michael Johns off the AI last night I am beginning to get my suspicions. Obviously the result shocked not only Michael but also the judges and from the boos also the audience. The two females had both been on the bottom three before and Michael was never on the bottom list. What a shame but with his great voice IMO he will go far. I actually voted for the first time this year and it was for Michael on Tuesday night as I thought his rendition of the Aerosmith song was great. At the very end did anyone notice how Randy whispered into Michael's ear? I have never seen that happened before....wonder what he said?

American Idol is never the end for anyone. Look at how many people have come out on top and did not win American Idol. Its just a stepping stone.

Very true. I saw on the Today show this morning that many of the people who do not win actually come out better than some of the winners.

Take example Clay Aiken or Ruben whoever won, I don't remember but I haven't heard anything from either of them...

I don't think fixed, but very confusing. Sometimes I wonder what they see in some of them that put them at the top of the list. I did not see Randy whisper to him. Maybe he wants to help him make a record or something, or just told him that he should not have been the one voted off.

It was right at the very end when the credits were starting to come up on the screen. I think you are correct in what may have been whispered.

I have started to get a bit tired of AI myself. I think they should change the voting as I think sometimes its about how many people you can get to vote than whos got the best voice. Mabey the judges could pick the bottom two and America votes for the one to go. I think something needs to change.

Didn't they do that on the first season of AI? Where the judges talked amongst themselves and chose who they thought were the worst two? I don't really remember lol.

I was expecting one of the girls to go never Micheal. I voted for him 3 times myself Tuesday night. So it really surprised me. I mean both of the girl have been in the bottom 3 plenty of times. It was Micheal's first time. I guess someone didn't like him.

Makes me wonder if it is because the two girls that were standing with him did not sing as good as he did. I'm really surprised he was voted off. I actually thought that Brooke or Sayesha was going. I hope what Randy said to him, is going to help with his singing career. I would buy his cd!

I don't think it is fixed. I do think that the above poster has a very valid point. I also know there is a website out there who has a huge following of people with nothing better to do, apparently, than sabotage a show they don't even care about. And, I also know that, for some contestants, NOT winning is the best thing that can happen to them- they are not bound by contract after the tour and most of the top 10 contestants in the past several seasons have gone on to an awesome career- some of them doing more, and doing it better, than the winner.

I don't think it is fixed. What I think it is, is that most grown ups don't vote. So more of the votes are coming in from teenagers. The teenagers love David Archaletta, jason, and they like Brook because they think she is nice. They young adults are probably going for David Cook. So saomeome who has a nice voice and sings classic rock is more appealing to adults who dont vote often. I think out of all the years we have been watching American Idol, I have voted twice, and my husband voted once.
