one that you would not recommend? I do not know about laptops, but for desktops, I would say the Compac Presarios. They are all right if you are not interested in dong heavy computer, but they have to have this added 'Compac Organize" and when you want to save a file, instead of the regular file name, they have to add not only the My Document on it, but Compac Owner, etc. so that you have to shorten the real file name. And then there is the recovery Cds you have to make, so instead of reinstalling one missing dll, you have to start at the beginning.? So what is the worse computer you ever had? I am talking name brands.

Tehn it crashed big time before I had it 2 years.

When we had Dell it was when there was only Windows 311 and we then upgraded to Windows 95, but then we had to order it, and we only had it a short while before ordering one made by a local computer guy. We had to replace two motherboards. So it is not just the Dell, it can happen when you have one made.

I'm not really sure. I would suggest that you do not buy any used computers. they are not up to power and things still go wrong with them. I have only owned two models of computers. One was a Dell and the one 'I have now is an Emachine. I had alot of problems with my Dell, but my Emachine has been working great, knock on wood.

I am planning to buy a new one. I was thinking of a Mac, since I am more of a creative sort. But they cost a bit and I want to have the Office programs as well, and I do not mean Open Office, so that will put up the cost as well. I am getting rather fed up with Windows.

I don't even care about what is the best brand or not, first I want a computer than can work in a price range that I can afford, then, my son builds computers, so he gets the parts he needs to do the work he wants and that is the way we will go from now on.

My son is a computer geek and he built one of his computers, and he did help my husband with his first one (after the Dell) but had problems because they kept sending him defective motherboards. So we went back to ordering name brand computers. Unfortunately since we did not have that much money, we got the Compac Presario which to us are just a little better than the EMachines.

Well now now, I have a Compaq Presario and I simply adore it. I purchased it in July of 2002 and so far, I have never had to have it serviced and it always does exactly what I need it to do. This is the first and only computer I have ever owned and I would not trade it for any other model. Because it has never once let me down. I do not use the features that you are speaking of. I really don't exactly know what that are, but this computer in incredible. I have never even had to do any upgrades. I have not spent a penny on this computer since I first purchased it.

A Compac Presario is okay if you are not doing that much except surfing, writing letters, and just download the basics. But if you are in heavy music conversions, graphics, etc. and programming, it is not that good. It is designed for the ones who are of the kind who when someone says, "Are you sure you need that?" say no. The Compac Presario Pemtium 4 can only be upgraded to Pentium and not to Duo Core. Then you have to buy a whole new computer.

I have had a Compac Presario for about 2 years now and I have never had any problems with it. The worse I ever had was a dell. Even dell's customer service was not good. If you tried to get a hold of their tech department they would ask you if it was plugged into the wall. beyond that they didn't know what else to tell you.

Compac Presarios are pretty bad. I have had a lot of bad luck with HP and Dell as well.

My Compac Presario has so much junk on it, that if anything goes wrong, it messes the whole computer up. I am planning to get a Mac, and I hope that I could buy an IMac as well as a Mac Pro, but I guess it will be the latter. We had a Dell as our first computer but that was before Windows 95 and we only had dial up and there were none of the programs they have now.

I do not like Compac Presario at all. I do not know about their laptops, but I do not just use my computer for mylotting, and emailing, I do a lot of work on it so it has to be heavy duty and I do a lot of surfing as well.

i don't really know which is the worst..I have a dell desktop computer and have never really had a problem with it..I also have a gateway laptop, and i like it as well...I would have to say maybe the worst or cheapest would be the "E Machine" my daughter in law had one and she said its ok for just e-mails etc but not for any heavy things, but i am just going by what i have heard,i have no idea if that is actually true....

We had a Dell but was quite a while ago. And we had computers made to order, and a local one that was bought, plus one that lasted six years, once was my husband's and was a store brand. I finally got a Compac Presario but there was so much bloatware that it is slow and only has restore Cds, and a complicated way to restore them. So I am gradually copying my programs to a flash drive so that I will be able to put the ones I need on a Mac.

I'm no conputer geek but I can tell you since buying a laptop I will absolutely never own anything else. Mine is a LG and I very much love it. I'm too handicapped to be lugging in a heavy computer when I want to take it in to add extra memory, this is so simple to move from room to room. I could brag on and on about my laptop. The last computer we had was a Vtech, piece of junk it was.

I plan to get a Macbook Pro and I do not just want the simple one, I want the one that can do a lot. I want something to carry around with me. A desktop is all right for getting on the internet, but when I write my novel, except for plugging it in the computer room, I will hardly be using the internet with it. I also want an IMac, but I have to get enough money first.

Emachines, they are cheap for a reason - the parts are hard to find, they break easy, they are junk

My older son has a Dell computer, a lap top, but it is top of the line because he does work at home, but my other son has a made to order because he does most of his work in the office. And I have a Compac Presario, and I should have gotten one with more power since I do a whole lot of work on it, plus graphics and music.

In Canada we have the popular brands such as HP, DELL,plus semi popular brands, and the Emachines. And they are made for what the computer makers consider the average person is going to use it for and some consider the average person does not know so much and needs all the stuff in the bundles.
12 Apr 08
For me, out of the known brands I personally think that the HP ones are the worst. They come with plethora of bloatware, and if you bought a desktop, their desktop uses a compact tower case which CRAMS everything in a tiny little box, making the user have to take out everything just to add a ram or etc. Also the thing is locked in a annoying way which makes you unhook and unclip, rather then the traditional simple bolt down assembly.

I have one of those crammy desktops. And I had to get rid of the bloatware. I have the original dvd player, but the sound card does not work, I have to turn on the speakers to record something playing on the internet if I use audacity. I got bloatware and cds, but most of them are demonstration cds and only for a certain time, or they are the simplist.
